    Zed not being able to see you trought wall was a nice fix, but it doesn't address completely the problem. When they are aleterted/aggr'ed they will know where you are, and they'll follow you even if they cannot see/listen you anymore (break of LOS). If i manage to hide inside a building, or just using a building to break the LOS, they should only have an idea (inspect the area) of where i may be, not the exact location.. otherwise it still too unrealistic; as unrealistic is to crawl around them without em noticing you.
  3. I started to play it pretending to the be in one of those zombie serials (like The Walking Dead or such...). It was so great that i tought it was the definitive game of all the time, i said to myself: oh man, i'm gonna play this like h24 for the rest of my gaming life.. lol. I was right, it was exactly like i imagined: i was exploring, i found survivors, we joined to find supplies, to fight those zeds, i passed nights alone in the forest, or with some occasional stranger, then with some more regular players we started to build our micro-society. After a while the game started to change: the mass come in force, and you started to see ppl spawning and shooting right after 10 seconds (i lived for more than a week before), but luckily it didn't affect much the mood, but one day everything changed: the day they removed the bandit skins. I remember the first 30 minutes i joined the game after it.. i died at the first encounter, and said: well, it's just a coincidence.. nope, i died again and again and again.. i dind't FOUND A SINGLE person to "talk" to, none were gaving me half second to say: "WAIT I'M FRIENDLY!". I awaited two days.. then i said: this is too much, so i started to play the death-match myself, it looked like the only way to stay alive, and so my friends. The result? We got bored in 4 days and we abandoned DayZ. I'm sad because something magnificient, something that i waited for years, a dream comes true, had been transformed into an idiot kids rambo deathmatch in a couple of weeks. That's why i'm still here posting... nor because i need attentions (lol), but because that something will change again in the future to give us back that great esperience i had the first days. I'm not confident because i recognize to belongs to a minority (kids playing videogames are much much more...), but you never know.

    What is "Binocular_Vector"?

    Rangefinder doesn't give much help.. the binocular can be used with the nightvisor, plus you can have any distance using the scrollwheel. It is a nice device but redundant.. if you own already a NVG and binoculars.

  6. Hello noobs, here's the definitive guide to master the game. If you follow this simple rules, you can live forever without much hassle. - Forget any friendness whilling. You're going to be a "bandit". There's no reason to be anything else, specially with the upcoming bandit skin removal. What it means? That you gonna kill anyone at the first occasion. No exception. - Pretend to be friendly if you're not 100% sure to being able to kill someone. In example, if someone spots you before you spot him, and he's ingenuous enough to ask if you're "friendly".. do not esitate to reply: "yes i am!" .. then act like you're the best person of the face of this deadly earth and back stab him at the first occasion. - Do not play on "night" servers if you don't have a night visor, it's a nerd affair and doesn't give you any advantage. But if you're forced to do so... turn the HDR and gamma at max. - And finally the mother of all the rules: don't care much about what you do, this is a videogame, you're not going to die for real, and you have ALWAYS an escape, it's called: QUIT. IF there's many zombies following you > quit; if there's someone that's going to kill ya > quit; in other words quit and join another server, without loosing your precious blood and loot. It is your most powerful weapon. And no, it's not cheating: quitting is a game option, you can quit anytime. - Benefit: no more paranoia, no more boring walks in the middle of nowhere to find a can of coke, fun to read other players rage. - Downside: you going to be bored in a week or so.. and you'll return to play CoD. Tip: after doing all the above expect others to tell you that this is not the "right" way to play... and ignore them. :D

    Which pistol do you prefer?

    Best pistols: Revolver and Colt .. they both do the same damage tho. 1911 Pro: less louder than the revolver.. but still loud indeed; Revolver Pro: much more ammo around; I take the 1911 anyway, the ammo aren't that common like the revolver, but they still very easy to find, and in every place (they are not military loot; in fact i usually find em in the general stores and apartments). 1 hit 1 kill and not crazy loud to attract any damn zombie around you. Any other pistol in the game is just too weak: the G17 is only a good looking weapon, but it needs too many bullets to kill, at this point i'll take a Makarov (some power but much more common mags); the beretta SD is pretty useless (doesn't make noise.. but men, you need a whole clip to shot someone down, even with headshots!); PDW, it's nice because it accept any 9mm mag.. *but* too weak.

    About the "life expectance"... did you realized it is "bugged"? Or to be exact it is "exploited". This has been mentioned by rocket weeks ago already. It accounts numbers that shouldn't be accounted, like in example those ppl respawning (suicide) for a better respawn point, etc. So even a huge difference in the gameplay won't change those numbers.. in fact actually they are more around "hours" (3-4) than 30 minutes, if we extrapolate the real numbers from the "fake deaths". The bandit skin removal changed dramatically the gameplay, you don't need a statistic to notice it, you have just to look at the user behavior.. i see myself: i didn't killed a single player for 8 days, then suddendly (after the skin removal) i killed EIGTH in 2 hours.. and so i continued.. why? Because it was too risky to do not (the only two times i didn't i got shot in the head...) and because i weren't paying any price to do so (it's tons easier to shot someone down, rather than asking him if he's friendly). So boring and childish that two days of this were enough.. so i abandoned the game until something will be done.

    0.19% or Why I stoped playing

    I have collected the WHOLE gear TWO TIMES in a week, including the NGV, the Range Finder, and whatever... the only weapon i did not find myself was the L85A2 AWS. Anyway don't "cry" much.. after you have collected anything, you'll get bored as well.. i'm not playing it anymore since there's nothing i can do now. I can die again and start to collect everything back, but it would be stupid. So my mates, aren't playing it anymore, since it's getting bored to raid together to find something that we already have. I've buried my "avatar" with all his complete gear by a week already... waiting for better and more interesting days. :)

    You're both wrong.. first because you ded, so you shouldn't be able to recover anything from the body of "you in the past life".. it makes no sense at all; second because the "killer" is waiting for the same person he killed already to go there again to kill him again, that (again) doesn't make sense as well. It's unrealistic on many level... unless this is a inception simulator. However recently this mod is turned into a sci-fi (see multi-dimension server swap) videogame and generally into a FPS/shooter/deathmatch .. so i wouldn't be surprised of this stuff.

    Abusive disconnections doesn't exists. It is a player choice to remain in game or to leave the game at any moment he/she wants. I may join now and leave after 5 seconds, or after 5 days, or i can decide to leave if i meet a cow, or if i see 3 trees in a row, or if the the north star is covered by a cloud, or if i meet another player because my religion say so. It's my only affair, if you don't like me or my playing style, ignore me, i'm not here to please you. This is a sandbox.

    Yes, and you have persistence too (at least the "mission" is saved upon exit, so you'll be "there", with your loot, when you launch it again). How do you launch the SP player version of the mod. I've tried all the campaigns, but none are working..? There's no official SP version of the mod.. there's a guy released a Mission. Google it.. you just need to a file to the Missions folder.

    Gfx settings should rely (much) on the game mechanics. It's not a matter of PC performance but of players attitude. I've seen ppl playing with super-uber PC's, capable of running the games maxed out, but running games almost wireframe to have an advantage. So no, the game must looks the same (when we talk about view distance, fov, dof, etc.) with any reasonable spec, whenever it's possible. You still have an advantage of running it with higher FPS's (or/notrelated with a better ping), but they can't do miracles.

    Syrasa, try the DayZ SP (single player) champaign and see if it runs smooth for you. If you're thinking: what the hell this guy is saying, and how it's related to this thread; well, it's not related, but i found myself playing the SP quite often when i cannot play online (in example where there's too traffic on the servers..), it's a great way to elaborate your strategy, to try all the weapons (manual spawning), to see the zombie reactions, to try the vehicles, and to be prepared when you need to do this things online and fights those mofos. (for this pro-tip, please prepare me a sandwich)

    Nope, it would reward (too much) who has a hi-spec PC. I do have one, so i would be happy, but there wouldn't be much fun playing against disadvantaged ppl.

    One thing... just to be sure.. atm you're having normal (your usual) FPS with Arma withtout DayZ mod? A week ago i had a problem with the drivers, and were going nuts, the FPS went down to 8FPS for no reason, but that wasn't related to DayZ, it were affecting even the vanilla. This rarely happens.. in the worst case (in my experience) they will run the same because it hits the CPU limit.. but in most case lower resolution = higher FPS. In your case 1080p should be an OK resolution for your config.

    Lower everything (gfx options) until they comes up with a hotfix. I've used to have around 50FPS with everything almost maxed (570SLI) ... but with the recent patch my FPS (luckily only sometime..) goes down to 8FPS .. so i lowered everything and now i'm having crazy FPS, but when things goes wrong (low FPS), they remains high enough to play confortably. The gfx is shitty indeed.. but it's ok for a couple of days.
