    Any way to make your base 100% secure ?

    There's a proposal in the suggestions forum, in a thread opened by me. To resume it was about: if you logout and change your server, you will respawn in a random place; if you relog on the same server from where you just logged out, you will respawn in the same place. This will not only give us the possibility to fortificate certain places, but it will also solve many other issues: you cannot do server hopping for looting anymore; you cannot swap on another server to move behind your enemy; plus if you're a serial disconnector you're going to spawn on the beach at any disconnection.

    That's not the main problem.. because it forces you to camp in a certain place (it is boring), the main problem is using multiple accounts as offline repositories, like tents that cannot be looted, to secure your loot. So if you die you just collect the stuff from the repository accounts.

    You don't need a boat, you can just go there swimming on another server, even if you loose your backpack isn't a big trouble since you can then loot the (supposed) camp there and get all the stuff u need.

    I lost my hopes.. more time passes and more cheaters comes. Even worse now half of the streams on twitch.tv in example are about cheaters "helping" the streamers (ie: spawn vehicles and weapons for them) or the opposite: cheaters hunting streamers. The "funniest" (if you say so) was about a guy helped by a cheater (L85A2 spawned in gear) but then killed by another cheater! lol ... If i were care about my gear (at least a minimum) now i'm trolling all over.. you never know when you're going to die, even if you pay much attention you can die suddendly by a nuke, by being pushed in the air, by being shoot by a cheater teleporting to you. I start to agree with ppl that are playing this like a death-match .. there isn't much sense to collect stuff, coz the only way to "survive" against cheaters is: to not play at all.

    Wtf you talking about? 20mbit (or more) is the standard in US big cities... it's not the standard in the US, where certain large areas doesn't even have a damn ISDN! It's the same in UK, and the same in many other big countries. You gonna have metropolitan areas with crazy fast lines, and other large areas with crappy internet. It's not that anyone lives in the middle of NY or London.

    Incredibly for the first time i see none coming saying: "I disagree.. blablabla .. lot of excuses" .. since i believe neither who's hording over there is cheeky enough to say it publically. :) Don't start trolling now! Btw .. if anyone agrees that placing stuff there shouldn't be allowed, why they didn't solved the problem? It doesn't look that hard to me to implement an easy fix (coords checking > despawn ... die ... whatever).

    Now with "alternate" HIVES you can have as many characters you wants on private servers.

    1) It's not rare (plenty at heli spawn); 2) It only accepts FAL magazines; 3) It has a NV visor (making the the weapon useless in day light); ...basically a Makarov is better than it! :D

    u only need to buy another OA if you want another account, there's no need to buy Arma2 again.

    That's fine, he should have asked in global chat for the permission to disconnect, and be authorized by the majority of players in the server. And if the global chat wasn't available, he should have found the support email, send a message there and wait for the admin reply prior to disconnect. Otherwise it is exploiting. I hope the OP will be globally banned from DayZ and eventually from the whole internet.

  18. It's fun to read all those PvP kids blaming at ppl on that server.. if you really want to do PvP go play elsewhere, why the hell you want this server to be closed? Nor that they can collect more stuff, in fact you can collect the weapons so easy that you don't need a "friendly" server to do so.. to not count the moltitude of cheaters in the game. Plus: did you realized that there's private server now? With their own rules? That cannot be closed/banned .. on some of them PvP is authorized, on other PvP is banned. Stop pretending that anyone plays the game as you like.. there's chaps that doesn't like PvP and they want to play this game as a zombie survival only and do RPG, it's not your affar, you have thousand of other kids to shoot to! ;)

    Who told ya he was a server hopper? He may be just loggin there... he seen you and you died. You didn't died because of a server hopper, i mean the circumstance is not relevant, he didn't moved back to your position while he was already on your server before, he just spawned there and you got unlucky to find on your path a spawing player. Also you managed to break a leg in the NW airfield.. you have been lucky enough to manage to return back crawling, so be happy to have survived 5 minutes more. :D

    The 5 seconds delay has been removed for this reason.. since another player (ie: a friend) had 5 seconds to retrieve stuff from your back pack while you were disconnected already, duplicating the items. Without a proper implementation a timeout wouldn't works, and it's a Arma2 thing... it requires much more works than just adding a timer.

    So, before the "local" HIVE servers where used to play DayZ offline (LAN), but now it seems that we have communities running their own private HIVE servers. Apparently then you can run multiple characters: one on the official HIVE, plus many others on each private HIVE server. Techinically this shouldn't affect you main (official) character progression, since they doesn't communicate, but i'm asking for a confirmation here to the devs. Are those servers ok to play on? (they are identified with "ALT.HIVE" or tags like that)... they are pretty useful when the official HIVE is offline too.

    This lead me to the other question: is there a way to distinguish em beside the server name? I'm asking because i smell that more than one joined there to find their character reset on the "beach".. while in fact they are not! They are there because it's just a new HIVE where their character doesn't exists (yet). Am i wrong?

    It's already like this.. and not only for tents. I play in team and i can die many times (while in fact im recently doing, since i run around like rambo) .. simply because i have my own gear back minutes after: my mates collect of it, or i just grab it from our "reserve". This is the HUGE advantage of playing in team: you basically nullify the perma-death ... the only hassle is about those 15 minutes to get back to your mates, but if you have the vehicles they can grab you back in a couple of minutes as soon you leave the respawn beach.
