    stealth abuse

    1 hour timeout if you change server (you cannot login in the previous server for 1 hour.. so you cannot reposition to have an unfair advantage). Having multiple camps on different servers.. and continuosly hopping server by server? This is not a fucking SciFi movie, there's no teletrasportation, you're not supposed to exploit the game mechanics jumping crazy on another server to stock your tent, then come back, then do it again... Mr.Scott!

    To avoid any sort of punishment, initially you may fix the most frustrating situation (because you die of it...): those players that disconnects to reposition on another server to come back on the same server to kill you suddendly. This is an easy fix: if you *change* the server (so it won't affect who goes to the lobby just to have a coffee) you cannot come back to the previous server within 1 hour. So if you simply go to the lobby, or if your connections drops.. you can come back to the same server, in the same position; but if you go intentionally to another server, you cannot come back to the previous one (the reasons you need to do that for legit reasons are few or not existant). Yes, it won't solve the problem of those disconnecting to avoid death.. but at least it will solve the problem with the server interdimensional tacti-trasnporters! :) One step more in the right direction...

    This is what every organized player is doing, including me: form a clan. But after a while (nor that it wasn't clear from the start) we stopped to think at it and we found that we were playing ARMA2 !! "Oh wait..." is the exact exclamation. So the zeds? The perma-world? The perma-death? Everything is GONE: zeds are joke (easy to kill/evade), dying is a joke (your clan is so huge or have so many stocked gears that the only pain is to respawn and reach them), most enemy are a joke too (disorganized alone players.. easy to take down while you're a tenth). So we're playing DayZ but in reality we're playing it exactly like we played Arma2 until 2 month ago. And please don't tell me again there's the perma-death... dying and having back your whole gear so fast isn't "permantent" at all.
  4. Until the game has some popularity, you're having the cheaters/crackers problem, and you can't do anything. And if you try to fight em strongly you won't obtain much: they will ddos your service so they still can't cheat, but anyone else cannot play at all. This is the reality.

    The problem is not about ppl shooting having a plan (and so.. a brain), but those ones completely brainless: the ones that shots any other players no matter what.. simply because they can respawn and do it again. This is what is ruining the game. I do not care to die, first because it's part of the game (without dying there won't be any excitment), second because i play in a clan, so i can collect all my stuff almost immediately. What i do not like is ppl doing stupid things because it's a game: yesterday we meet a unarmed guy and dediced to take him aboard on our bus.. just to do something different, so we did.. we spent some time together, until we gave him an hatchet... and guess what? He immediately started to "shoot" at us.. then he died after 3 microseconds. Now.. you see nine armed people around you.. what the hell you want to do? kill us all with an hatchet? You know you going to die.. why the hell you're doing this? Don't get me wrong, I know the reply already: "because it is a game"; but i hoped that DayZ was something different than another shooter.. and i'm still hoping. Maybe when the curiosity of the masses will pass, we will have (eventually) a more "mature" gameplay.

    It seems the disappearing mags hasn't been fixed... i logged out with half mag and when i relogged after hours one mag was missing, so i used another mag, used a couple of ammo, and when i relogged again i found no mags at all. Also zeds behaviours are convicing at all (i don't care about how hard it is... i'm talking about how they randomly see/hear you, including when they have no LoS).

    Now that i attracted whiners and some ppl looking for digital boobs i may be more serious. I just watched this video, and it pretty resumes how it should be played, i suggest to those that are claiming to die too often, or that are unable to survive to a single zombie attack, to give it a look and eventually learn some techniques from it. Being stealth or survivie to multiple zombies chasing you is NOT that hard, neither is hard find a weapon after respawn, neither is hard to do anything in the game, you only need one thing: YOUR BRAIN. Being careless and shoot at any occasion (no matter if zeds or other players) is the WRONG way to play (or it is the fastest way to die). The video is not done by me.. it must be someone here on the forum, i hope he can comment as well. Btw kudos to him: [i have been warned for this post. -Ubi]

    L85A2 disabled? Reaaaly? DICE?

    L85 was like cheating... in this type of map where the trees are your covering, you were being able to spot other players with no effort at all, and in a brilliant white color. Again, initially i tought it was an hacked/modified/cheater weapon.

    I died.... and now?

    Any of us died at least one time (but most, many many times..), so what you do after? Here's some of the player styles... what's yours? - The Angry German Kid: it's not so common in DayZ, since you're invited to replay and do it better, but it exists. It's the player that stops to play immediatly, because eventually he got a lucky start initially, he lived long enough with just his first life, collecting his awesome gear, to die suddendly by a camping sniper in the middle of nowhere. Then he broken the keyboard and fucked this game all together (not prior than come here on the forum to bitch about it...). - Leave me alone: he dies to die again. There's nothing much to talk about this player: he dies, he cries, he doesn't improve his gaming style, he doesn't try to understand where he's wrong and why he's dying... he only cries, and dies.. and cry.. and go here to cry.. to die again.. forever. - Like there's no tomorrow: he dies and he rushes immediately to the first hi-loot location (firestation, airport, tents, barracks). He's a robot, he doesn't think much, he already have a plan: respawn > respawn again and again if the location isn't one of those ones chosen before > run with no care into the loot for weapon / backpack / most important tools > then finally play "normally". If the process fails (he dies again), repeat it over and over again until the success. - The casual: he/she keeps the game for what it is: a game. He doesn't get angry when he dies, but he learns from his mistakes. He doesn't adopt a studied strategy, he spawn, he eventually die, he respawn and start again without much complaints, trying to correct himself. He got a brain but he's not fully immersed to believe this is the real life. He's that type of person: "how's bud?" ... "all fine mate"... and that's it. - The true survivor: he spent much time to collect as much tents as possible, hiding them in number on multiple servers. This surviver is prepared for his future like a someone saving money for his oldness. He stock all the possible gears in these tents to regain it when he'll die. Most of the times he fails because: the tent is magically gone after a server respawn; the tent has been flatten out; the tent has been looted by a beaver; but he believes in what he's doing, because he's a Survivor. - We're all together: he never plays alone, he got so many friends to party with! He's usually careless because he thinks: who care if i die? I have so many chaps to restock me! And it works: when he dies he doesn't have nothing to do than meet the group again, and if it's an organized group he can even being save to run to the meet location, coz a vehicle will carry him there like a taxi! It's so cool.. until a cheater nukes them all together.. but hey, you can't live forever. - The Rich Nerd: he found the way to exploit the game, investing so much money (without realizing that it still cheating). He has human tents: multiple accounts, slaves with a coyote backpack, used as offline inventories: when he dies he go to the human tent location, log in with the "alt" and restock the main account. The downside is that he usually forgot to have a real life.

    Added, "The Casual" .. :) Btw when i respawn i usually rush into the hi-loot spawn .. but i have many friends playing with me, so i usually get the essential (what i can get without much risk) then i meet again the group to get the rest (if it's not available we just go loot for it.. usually when playing in ten or more the risks of being all shot down are limited).

    Disconnecting to avoid death

    Most of the proposed solution wouldn't address (at least not completely) all the problems. - Timer on disconnect: if implemented it must have an abort function (you must have the control of your character during the countdown, eventually aborting it if you feel in danger, by simply moving), but whenever it will be correctly implemented it will only solve the problem partially. A firefight can least longer than this supposed timeout, so in example hiding behind an obstacle would give you enough time to quit, forcing the other person to rush into killing you for the fear that you're going to disconnect. It also doesn't solve the server hoppers for looting: the timeout is ininfluent because you hide in the forest while server hopping for deer stands or other military locations. And you can also still disconnect to reposition on the same server if the enemy didn't see you yet. - Spawn delay: you character won't move for X seconds during the respawn. This is the worst idea ever, exposing anyone to being spawnkilled, and anyway leaving your character without the user control. There's no need to comment here... it would be bad on many levels. What's the worst problem atm? It's not the missed kill, but the ppl killing you AFTER they have repositioned. The most logic solution is the one proposed already: blocking the relogin on the same server for 1 hour. It won't solve the "avoiding death" situations, but at least you won't be "punished" (being killed) by exploiting it!

    In real life when you die.. you die. There's no other words you need to understand this simple concept. This is a game. In a game *with weapons* you just do this: you use those weapons to collect kills. It doesn't count if they are zombies, other players, monsters, aliens. If you think that in real life in a possible zombie apocalypse you would find half of the survivors camping in an adandoned airport with a camo suit to snipe other survivors... you must be really really dumb, or a kid (-7yo) that thinks the RL is a movie or a cartoon.

    Negative... some primary weapons uses 8 slots (if i'm not the Bizon is one of them.. i'll try when i'm in game).

    I agree... go with L85 ACOG ... it has the same damage of other M16 but with a selectable zoom, making it a little more desiderable BUT no with an embedd cheat like the thermal sensor.

    Your problem is that you do too much PvP, basically youre enjoying only this side of the game, so you're suffering much the disconnecting ppl.. basically you're playing it like Arma2. If do "the whole rest" (everything that isn't focused only on PvP) you'll forget about the problem... in example i shoot at anything that moves that is around me, but i don't go around "hunting humans" (ie: camping on the balota hill to snipe noobs for no reason.. what i have to earn?) .. so if i try to kill someone is because i don't want him around (possibly killing me after...) .. if he disconnects, he makes me a favour: i save more bullets, or eventually the risk of finishing him exposing myself to someone else that was observing the fight. Disconnection to avoid death isn't much a problem... disconnect to reposition somewhere else to have an advantage and kill you after << this is a problem, but this can be easily avoided: you cannot reconnect to the same server prior than 60 minutes. Problem solved! :)

    At least you can clearly see the action here... what you don't see is other "famous" streamers that are getting help from hackers while "offline". When they die you suddendly see them again with vehicles, L85A2, ghillie and whatever after half hour, without knowing what happened in the "middle", you may believe these ppl having tons of tents to restock from.. but when you ask you get kicked from the stream. There's a streamer that were being helped by a well known cheate/hacker about a week ago, his defense was that he cannot avoid the hacker providing weapons (like this thread) .. but then after a week that same "hacker" started to play with him (without cheating publically.. bt providing weapons and stuff while they are offline). What you would do to being "famous" (or to earn some cents with the streaming donations.. lol).

    Not only you can get it from the helis, but the fact is that only a small portion of those weapons get lost, so you have NEW ones + you have all the other spawned previusly and eventually collected doing PvP... this is why the versy first days only few ppl had it, but more days (months) passes, and more chances you have to find one or to kill a person that has one. The weapons is not "rare" anymore (i've found more L85A2 than M24) and this is why it should be removed coz it's too good for spotting in this type of environment (forest/trees).

    I've recently read a dev posting about off-map items. Can we make this clear? Is it planned a mass-removal of them all? Can we inibit ppl placing items there? Dunno why ppl are complaining about other exploit but none say anything about it ... moving off-map (that since it's a game it considered: outside of the gaming area) isn't an exploit as well?

    I would say thank you to the dev team, from when they resolved this issue is finally possible find some vehicles for the casual users, i've seen "excited" ppl to find motorcyles, bycicles, cars ... etc. while until yesterday they were only a dream! :) Thank you!
