    Apparently having a main rotor into your main inventory will make a joke finding a (repaired) chopper (it works only with ones with a main rotor already repaired) KM's away.

    There's no multiple character supports in DayZ. If you want multiple chars, you need multiple CD-KEYS (OA).

    Hi, Be ware of the player Mad_Vengeangx, he has Tp hacks and i have watching him tp to my base then my helicoper that a friend was at 5km away in a matter of seconds. I banned him from my server for hacking. =================================== ^^^ The above post has the sole purpose of showing how stupid is the OP (post).

    This.. but these are not the wider category. Most of cheaters (they are NOT hackers.. to be an hacker you need some skill; to be a cheater you only use someone else's skill...) fun is about trolling, enjoying fun spoiling others fun. In example, you spent like 2 weeks to build your gear, secure your base with your friends, done everything "perfect"... so the cheater comes, destroy everything in like two seconds and laughs at your "raging", since you keep the game so "serious" to have spent 2 weeks of your life to collect virtual stuff.. (that disappeared in two seconds because of the cheater). A cheater won't get fun to rule the map (he gets bored in a day or so..), but to ruin other players experience.. it's basically a troll with "more (not legit) power".

    What about those kid admins asking repeatly when *exactly* the choppers will start to spawn, so they can safely close their servers to collect and hide em? That's pathetic... grow up chaps! Plus i would tell ya that you CANNOT hide an helicopter from when they removed the possibility to save em off map, no matter where you land.. islands.. mountains.. whatever.. it's gonna be found anyway, so closing your server to try to hide em would only save ME to repair them myself... so i should thank you for the work.

    I've seen them dropping brown tubular explosives as well.. but only when scared.

    False, since it was extremely easy to recover your humanity (and skin) if you just killed a couple by error or in self defense. The ones in trouble were only those bandits that have mass murdered or liked to play only for killing without a reason (deathmatch) pretending to not "pay" for it. I am a bandit and i admit the truth, since this is getting really really boring now and the game has so much potential that i wouldn't seen it ruined like this.

    Multiple DayZ accounts (useful for shared computers)

    1. It's not a steamworks game, so you don't have to install it at all, so yes it will be "installed" in the same folder. 2. Your profile won't be touched.. nothing will be touched, when you'll purchase it, you only purchase a cd-key. You're not going to install anything. 3. Into the Arma2 directory, you can manage them directly from within Arma.. you don't need to change anything "manually" in windows (neither you're forced to create a new one..).

    Why is this advertised as a Zombie game?

    The current (Arma2) game engine cannot handle a realistic zombie/zeds/infecteds behaviour (where for "realistic" i mean what we used to learn from fiction: novels, movies, serials): we can't have thousand zeds filling big cities, permanent zeds moving all across the map, etc. This is why the game turned into PvP/deathmatch .. if you erase all the zeds from the map, the game won't change at all. You play it like you play Arma2, as others mentioned already. The final (standalone?) game, will be probably different.. eventually based on Arma3.. i dunno. This would be just an experiment, that will turns into a promotional idea (promotional: to build the name "DayZ", so when the final game will be out, it wouldn't come from nowhere.. but it will have a well known name/brandname already). We still hope the game will turns into a real/mature survival after-apocalypse game/simulator.. but face the reality: it is a game, it is played by many different players (from the adult, passing by the troll, ending to a 12yo kid) .. so there not much you can do, unless you "force" the game mechanic (something that the devs won't to do...). So i'm not sure how you can force a 12yo kid running into cherno with an hatchet while launghing at their friends behind his monitor.. it is a game (again?) after all! :)

    "zombies" are here to attract (future) customers... for the rest it's a slow paced shooter at the moment. Let's hope it will change.

    How fast can you get the basic gear?

    I've calculated mine, it was around 17 minutes on average for my basic gear: alice backpack, some food, canteen, M1911/Revolver, an assault rifle or a winchester, compass, hospital stuff (morphine, blood bags), knife, matches. I usually collect these in the big two cities.. then i move inside. But most of the times i collect my original stuff back, coz of my clan mates.

    Whats the point of getting a M16/M4A1/AKS-7U etc?

    M4 SD suks bad.. since the game turned into PvP by a while already, you're going to die bad by almost any other weapon in the game if you encounter another player. It was good before (where the main task was killing zeds), now it's just a waste of space into your backpack. You need to go for a good PvP weapon: FN FAL (pretty common at heli crashes), AKM (easy to find / common mags), Lee Enfield (powerfull, but not so good in close). On a separate note: this game is all about camping/sniping .. if you own an AS50 you don't need anything else really. :)

I understand it perfectly, that's why i say: when you adopt a compromise (it is a videogame after all), you need to adopt counter measure to balance the game on the other side (affected by the previous compromise). For our specific case: we cannot have a permanent death (where permanent means forever.. like in real life), the death (being scared of dying) is one of the main reason that stop us to do (much) stupid things (risking your life); in a videogame you're not scared to die (of course), neither you're penalized much of risking your (virtual) life, so you are more aimed to to "stupid" things (risking much) .. like engaging PvP for your entiere playing time. Until you "fix" this (being scared of dying) you will never have a "real" ppl behaviour... it's all about running, gunning, trolling, respawning.. like any other shooter. There's nothing real doing this.... what's the point of having the ultrarealistic ballistic when i can troll around with an hatchet singing trollolo!?

    Thermal scope on L85A2 changed?

    Mine went to normal view (no NV/thermal), to b/w thermal, to NV, to "red" thermal (4 viewing modes!) .. i dunno why, but when i relogged they were gone (only the normal 2: NV/thermal red were working).

    Next time you'll respawn in the debug forest / debug hills with nothing and you don't have a respawn button, lemme know.... lol.
  17. The unrealistic part is that when i die and i can have all my gear back in 15 minutes. When you realize this, you understand that anything "realistic" in this game doesn't count anymore. In real life... In real life... In reali life... ...arguments aren't valid anymore, the only true one is: In real life you do not respawn.
  18. My KD ratio is something like 100:1 (players not zeds).. so i would defend the PvP aspect of this game.. the reality is that the OP (or anyone else criticizing the PvP) is technically correct. This game *today* is all about PvP, and i'm missing so much from my first weeks (when i were used to "talk" with strangers and such). I'm continuing to play it since i have a clan and we get fun together shooting at the noobs, that is another reason of why PvP "addicted" ppl are defending it: there's so many noobs in this game that is incredible easy to "score", so you feel like a uber-pro-shooter .. pathetic? Yes it is.. but i'm "brave" enough to admit it. I'll probably get bored in a while and i'll abandon it.. but until i've some whilling to play, i'll follow the mass (killing on sight.. camping hot spots to increase my KD ratio.. and stuff like this). Forget DayZ.. welcome to Arma2! :)

    Certain weapons, tools, vehicles doesn't works well into this game because (whenever we not aim for the balancement) they heavily unbalance the gameplay. In example a nuke exists (you can see those missles used by hackers), but we won't have it (in a legit way) for obvious reasons. The helicopter let you scan the map (even without the radar) in minutes, making the whole idea of "hiding" a tent or a vehicle (even far away from the common routes) basically impossible, especially by when they removed the possibility to park a vehicle off-map. If you just started to play now, you believe the map is very big... but it's not, it's big only if compared with a traditional game, but it is "only" 15x15Km ... it is extremely small if you scan it with a chopper. First: it is the L85A2 .. i'm not sure what's the L84. Btw.. it's its thermal view to be "OP", not the bullet power (it uses the normal STANAG, like the M16).

    Some toughts: Helicopters: they are one of the must funniest vehicles in the game when you do mainly PvP, i do admit that i had great moments with them on the private servers, BUT they disrupt the game on many levels. It's very hard to have a base camp at the moment, or even to save a single vehicle; but with the chop it is basically impossible. I would really like to discuss this before deciding to reintroduce back the helicopters, they doesn't really fit the mod. L84A2: i hoped for some days they really disappeared forever... but yesterday i found another one at an heli crash. What are we waiting to remove this thing from the game? This is OP, it's like cheating, stop finding excuses on realism and such.. when there's ppl running with hatchet you don't need to literally see trought the trees and foliage having animals and players highlithed in a brilliant white! It's like playing at "shoot at the duck".

    This, im missing so much approaching other survivors to help (even if i don't need anything myself...), i tried .. and i have been killed each time, feeling an idiot. In the back those moment you encountered chaps with surivor skins were the most enjoying part; and when you were used to meet a bandit or just hiding by another in the forest were exciting moments as well. I'm not sure why we are waiting so much to (re)introduce the bandit skin or an alternate method (hearth beats doesn't work at all).

  25. I don't think we elected someone here that can judge who needs to be spam-banned via this forum. The report are sent privately to the devs, then the devs can eventually publish those GUID's, after they have verified that it belongs to a cheater/hacker. If the devs have no time for this, then blame them.
