So you want to trade the worst weapon of the whole game... with what? An hatchet? :D Why it sucks: 1) The damage is ridiculos.. the nice part is when you try to kill a player with it, and he will shot you down with any othe rifle in 1/4 of the time. 2) The precision and distance is a joke as well (a lee enfield is tons better); 3) It is silent yes.. and then? You can use it only against the zed, but an hatchet is tons better: 1 shot to kill em and it works within 5m range. If you didn't realized yet, this game is all about PvP atm (you can forget zeds.. even without killing em), and with the recent weapon nerf.. that SD thing is a piece of crap, trash it for an AKM. ;)

We're "paying" with our time, testing a product that will be a retail game (to be sold). So it is a mutual exchange: we're getting fun *while* we help to improve (or actually to develop) the product. There's nothing free here: Rocket isn't Santa Claus. "Free" doesn't necessary means "without money". -

You wouldn't see the DayZ "standalone".. you'll see DayZ mod (this) running on a private server.. and that's all (that's what happened in any other previous conf). DayZ (the game) has been announced only because of the pressure the devs (but mostly BIS) had recently because of the competitors.. they had no other chances than announce it "asap" to not loose the possible interest (ppl starting give money to other projects...), that's the reason of having a payed alpha (minecraft model) that wasn't planned at the start. This is a way to maximize the profit... unfortunately it isn't that good for us.. but hey, you can't blame them, they are a software company, they are interested to make a profit not to please us all "for free".

So i normally play this game like a carebear because my friends wanna do PvP by i'm scared as hell to loose my hatchet so i do my solo things. While i were playing with my right hand an interesting thing happened on a RU server with 30-40 hackers. I was passing my normal day crawling around elektro, when i start hearing the mother of all the carebears fears: the blades of a choppa. I had a Makarov with no mags, an hatchet, 10 cans of beans and 6 canteens; i was on the roof of those offices (or school?), near to the Elektro hospital, so i had no way to escape. The helicopter started to circle above me to take me out, i tought i were going to die, but then i've noticed an empty wiskey bottle just near to me laying on the ground, so i kept it to try a last shoot.. i had nothing to loose after all. I awaited the choppa to get close, i patently waited pointing my glass-hoping to it, then i trown it. At the same time i've heared a guy on the hospital in front of me shooting his makarov, but he missed the choppa by a good 87 meters, while my wiskey-weapon were hitting the main rotor. Shortly after the helicopter started to spin in a spiral of death and crashed into my same building, so i seen: Yeung Hok-ling 1 has died Sun Yat-sen has died Chan Siu-bak has died Yau Lit has died. I got 5 murders into my debug monitor, the fifth must be the other guy with the makarov at the top of the hospital died by the excitement, since he tought to have hit the choppa. I was streaming so my cat saw it happen. Currently in the process of editing the video and putting it up on youtube.. it'll be ready soon. Dat empty wiskey bottle... -
Still possible to place Camps outside the Map?

I've found vehicles offmap on the official servers. Now there's some options: a) The vehicle was there by only few hours (less than 6 according to the devs). But one of them was not operational (missing a wheel) so it should have been there by a while. So the devs lied. b) This 6 hours things is not working, and some ppl have figured it already, so there still ppl hording vehicles offmap (and this is happening with the chop as well now). c) The 6 hours "cleanup" is run manually by a dev... but it's not run anymore. I want to "waste" a vehicle just to try it myself... to show (eventually) how a vehicle can survive for more than 24 hours offmap (with a server restart btw). -

I'm playing Lingor these days.. and they reintroduced the bandit skin there (plus other nice features) ... and it is great,neither the bandits are complaining about em, and everyone is happy. :) -

This is a perma-world/archive/whatever game, the cheating/hacking affair is a "serious" issue, since ONE time (ie: with a nuke) is enough to disrupt all your game progress. I don't care much tbh .. but i can imagine that this will be the major customer complaints on release: today we have the "alpha excuse" .. but tomorrow it will be different. -

Again, i rarely had it, but yesterday i got it at berezino hospital... with our team we kept like 20 minutes to move from the tree line to it (it's around 200 meters) moving between the zeds and being totally exposes to the enemy fire, since we HAD TO DO. So yes, in certain situations, it's frustrating because: a) You can't see anything; B) You risk to die because of a bug, and that's not fun at all. Stop defending the devs.. in THIS situation we needed a daily hotfix (forgiving the rest of the patch contents) because it is a shotwstopper/gamebreaker. It's not that we're going to ask to fix the helicopters (they can wait), but we're asking to fix a serious graphical issue. -
The current concept of hi-grade/military spawn being a rare spawn (for balancement purpose) cannot works with the current game mechanic (perma world), so the balancement (if any) is exploited by itself. I try to explain better: if it was a single "game round", you would have only few ppl owning a rare weapon/tool ... but in a permanent world, the spawn are being added to the users that already have them, and they increases exponentially with time (days... weeks.. months..), ending (theorically) with anyone having the "top gear", since when you kill someone you going to loot his stuff. In other words: you have the (example) 0.1% of finding an item because of a spawn + you have the 0.1% of finding the same item killing the player who found it before ... these numbers increases in a sort of pyramidal scheme day by day: 0.1% spawn + 0.1% * players. The only way to prevent it, is to place a sort of "top" number for the rare spots.. in example: there must be only 1000 NVG in the whole game, after that number is reached, no more NVG's are spawned in the loot... but then you gonna face a moltitude of other possible problems (ie: ppl owing some rare stuff but no playing the game anymore and stuff like this).

I just love ppl assuming that is the same for anyone.... i rarely have them in example, but many of my friends are experiencing them, and relog doesn't help at all. Giving nosense advices doesn't help at all. -

Some ppl doesn't handle the frustration of a slow weapon collecting.. to be killed by a camper, so they cheat. It's amplified by the fact that the arma2 engine is so customizable that cheating (without being busted) is so damn easy .. plus the BattleEye is a joke. I never liked those script-kiddies.. but how to blame em, this game (atm) is a cheater/troll party invite! -

For this reason i've stopped to hide the vehicles i occasionally find (it's better to destroy em after the usage..). It's the benefit of having/admin a server.. why do you think that 90% of choppers in game belongs to the server owner(s)? Skill? Luck? Cheaters? :) -
It's random, even after repairing it 100%, sometime it doesn't works.. so you need to repair the same thing multiple times, do the "rearm" and some random stuff until it will finally works.. then it will be found and destroyed by the first kid with a wallhack, after you have spent like 7 hours to repair it. For this reason i've repaired a couple, used them with my team, got that 1 hour of fame, and then destroyed em... to return playing on Lingor. lol

It's a bugged alpha.. what do you expect? Ppl collecting stuff for hours to loose it because of a hacker+cheater+bug? The only fun atm is to kill other players (armed or not, it doesn't count much.. a kill is a kill to increase your K/D ratio). -

This is NOT a simulator. It is a videogame with a "fancy" (to call it so) mechanic.. rocket called it "anti-game": fun+trolling. -

It's bugged. I've repaired 3 chops so far.. what i did was: repair everything (including glasses and all), then start to do random things.. like "rearm" then do in and out the pilot seat etc, then after some time they stops leaking fuel for no apparent reason. Sometime i've repaired the same piece (ie: the vMissiles) multiple times, even if it was already green. Luckily we're a big squad, so we had plenty of time to defend it near to a gas station, wasting tons of fuel jerry cans at each try until it finally works. As said it's totally random.. do not expect a guide of what you need to do *exactly* to repair one (like: you need 9 glass, you need 5 scrap metal. etc.) because it wouldn't works. For each helicopter i ended to use like: 12 glass + 7 scrap (average) + 1 main rotor + engine part (ah.. i NEVER used a fuel tank part so far). -

I have a suggestion for you: play it as it is.. a deathmatch.. until you get bored, then leave the game and chose something else.. eventually the devs will understand the mistake then (hopefully), otherwise there's TONS of good games out there. This thread is 54 pages long, they have eyes, if they are ignoring it (i hope not) they are doing it on purpose.. it's not that we need more pages. In the meantime i'm collecting more and more kills... there's nothing else to do atm. -

Apparently having a main rotor into your main inventory will make a joke finding a (repaired) chopper (it works only with ones with a main rotor already repaired) KM's away.
