    The constant discussion about 'hacking'.

Cheaters/Hackers in a permanent world is different than cheating in a traditional game (ie: in a FPS based on "rounds"). A single cheater may ruin the experience collected by several players per days.. weeks.. whatever. This is why the cheaters/hackers issue should be the VERY TOP priority for a game like this. It should come before anything else (including the contents) and you should put more effort into it (more that a dev team would do for a "normal" game). I did not see this kind of effort so far, i see the devs talking about the contents, about what will be dayz, about caves, dogs, and realistic anymations... but when you ask about the cheaters, then you read: "we know the problem, and we'll handle it..". This is a mere promise, and i hope (when/if the game will be out) it won't be too late to adjust the aim, coz no matter how good the game will look, if the cheaters remains (at this level), all this project is going to fail: i'll personally buy it the first day it'll be available, but as soon i'll find the first cheater, i'll ask for a refund.. (i won't drink the "this is alpha" story anymore).

    too many 50 cal snipers

Not sure what you mean.. the AS50 is the god of all weapon, you can basically use it for anything, auto killing machine, even in close combat. SVD is not even a cal 50 .. so you can kill ppl only with headshot, coz the others will ALT+F4 right after the first hit.
  3. Players are dropping from initial hype.. no matter if official hive or private hive. The truth is that the game (for the traditional gamer), without constant updates, is extremely boring.

    too many 50 cal snipers

Sometime i think i'm playing a different game.. lol. I play Lingor regularry, and the M107 presence is alot more than in Chernarus (a AS50 is way more rare). Anytime i die i find another cal.50 within the first half hour of playing (i just sit on a populated server with an AKM near Calamar waiting for the first camper shooting... to fire him back).

This... plus you might have a small chance of dying because of a bug or a server restart so your body will disappears without anyone looting it. But these are small chances, and would only slow the inevitable process of weapons flooding. Unless someone here has an idea of resetting the database every X months, or placing a spawn limit according to the weapons circulating in the game (but then you risk to not spawn that weapon anymore if the current owner stop playing.. so it should be much more elaborate than this, ie: accounting the active weapons, etc.). In other words the solution is much more complicate than just "lower the spawn rate or resolve the dupe issue".

this is geting out of hand

They go on low pop servers to test out their hacks (so they won't be noticed if something "fails")... the concentration of cheaters on low pop servers sometime is higher than on populated servers.

Nice to know that 2,000 bans do nothing

The 7-10% i'm referring to is about the ACTIVE players. It means literally this: i've (with the help of other ppl and admins) analyzed the cheater across (about) one month of gameplay, on both hive and not-hive servers (the number of cheaters, whenever ppl thinks differently is almost the same..), and 6% of them were cheating (in different ways). I've then increased the number by 1% because i'm not a wizard and i have missed some cheaters that have cheated without me noticing them. So the above numbers are real: they doesn't account the "fake" userbase (in example who tried the game for one week then dismissed it..), neither duplicate accounts; it's about the number of cheaters versus who is REALLY playing the game "today" (active userbase). I'm repeating it today, coz the number of cheaters increased because of two factors: public released cheats + ppl getting bored/annoyed; for what i've seen the last week we're around the 10% now.. but it requires time, and i don't have much time (plus i'm playing DayZ a way more less today.. so i can't spend "hours" analyzing data.. neither my friends). Unless you have different data, the numbers i said above are pretty accurate, and they are more than enough to ruin the whole gameplay.

It's a perma world, no matter how "rare" you span an item, even without "duping" the number will increase. You're going to make it slower but their number will increase anyway, it will require 6 months instead of just 1 .. but a rare weapon will be again common. The only solution is to remove certain weapons from the game.. but this is not going to happens, because it wouldn't be liked by most PvP and ex-CoD players, that are (sadly) the ones that will pay for the final game (casual gamers are a way more and more than the hard-core platea).

Nice to know that 2,000 bans do nothing

According to my calculation, for those 80k, 5000 to 8000 are cheaters (this includes cheaters using active cheats, passive cheats, and scripting). This is due to some public hacks that have been released some time ago. In other words joining any server today, it means you're going to "play" with one or more cheaters. It doesn't mean that you'll necessary interact with em, they'll eventually kill someone else.

This kind of behavior is unacceptable! *TAKE 2*

I understand your frustration but you cannot punish "random ppl" because some others are ****head.
  11. WalkerDown (DayZ)

Nice to know that 2,000 bans do nothing

Quit unrealistic.. when i calculated it (some weeks ago) they were about 7%, it seems they have increased a little recently, but they won't be more than 10% of the total. Anyway, even with that 10%, due to the nature of this game (permanent world.. death.. whatever...) a single cheater may ruins hours, days (or even weeks) of a user gameplay... so you notice their presence a way more than traditional FPS.
  12. WalkerDown (DayZ)

This kind of behavior is unacceptable! *TAKE 2*

That's indeed very stupid, and it cannot be done on official HIVE servers, because you're filtering out many users that are not cheaters.
  13. WalkerDown (DayZ)

    immortal?

There's a tip: you can bandage (even if you aren't bleeding)... then you'll be "unstuck".
  14. WalkerDown (DayZ)

    thanks hackers

So you're happy of ppl totally unbalancing the game, spawning rare stuff like fresh water... but the most fun part is when you'll return here on the forum crying because another one (this time with god mode) have shot ya in the back with an hatchet while you tried to kill him with your scripted AS50 TWS gently donated by a script kid.
  15. WalkerDown (DayZ)

    About pvp...

^^^ even if you hit em, coz your 107 is loud as hell, after the very first shot all the city and surrounding will know your position and you're basically dead, if you don't move right after. Also, don't forget about the cheaters.. there's so MANY players using a well know public cheat (it displays every user on the map) that makes playing DayZ today basically impossible. I usually play in team so if i die i have another of my mates watching my back, so who killed me is shot right after (and i can have all my stuff back looting my own corpse), this is the only way to fight em... except when you find the one with "god mode".. in that case (if you're fast enough) ALT+F4 is the only solution.
  16. WalkerDown (DayZ)

    Cheating itself

The problem affects Arma2.. this is nothing to do with the "mod". If you believe that DayZ (the game) will be based on something completely different (and i'm not talking about the scripting) then we have a different idea (and continuing the discussion wouldn't end anywhere). I'm asking to handle the issue "today" (arma2) because i'm convinced that the core engine will be the current one and it will suffer the exact same problem (exploitation).. coming here to blame at the dev team when it'll be too late, won't help to have a good game (the only thing that i'm interested to).
  17. WalkerDown (DayZ)

This kind of behavior is unacceptable! *TAKE 2*

    - Is not that offending me, makes you more intelligent. - I've explained you that there's no sense to ban a dynamic IP; on the other side a static IP is an important information for certain users to risk to publish it for the wrong reason (we have several proves of FALSE POSITIVE posted here.. browse the forum pls), so you can't spam a user data (his IP) just because you believe he's a "cheater". - You refuse to follow the forum rules.
  18. WalkerDown (DayZ)

Is KOS really that big of a problem?

Killing other players is the only "fun" remained, because the game is broken and there's nothing more you can do: - no bases (cheater will find your vehicles, tents, whatever); - no reason to survive (cheaters will kill you anyway); - if you are lucky enough to survive for "some" days .. you'll eventually being killed "by" a bug. So, anyone with a brain will think: "why the hell i'm hiding here.. i'm collecting stuff.. i'm taking safe... if my destiny is to die, not by a mistake, but because of a script kid?" << as soon you start to ask this to yourself, your eyes will opens, and you'll enjoy the "real" DayZ: PvP death-match.
  19. WalkerDown (DayZ)

    Cheating itself

By my logic if i gave my money to a company that is unable to handle a problem, i won't trust their words (promises) until they PROVE they are capable of doing now what they have failed to do previously + (see my previous post). PS: and about "modified engine", my idea is that it will be this same engine with minor tweaks and stripped out (hidden) scripting... unless you have more informations.
  20. WalkerDown (DayZ)

    Cheating itself

I'm referring to the no-script cheats.. that are worse than those scripted ones. Those cheats must be "fight" putting their hands into the engine a/o adopting a serious anticheat (not that joke called BE), that's why i'm asking to take care of the problem today, or we will end to have the final game with the same problem (not scripters, but tons of cheaters anyway). The current number of cheaters is ruining the game dynamics, so it's not helping the players (neither the developers) to give a direction to the final game, everyone is just playing it as a "traditional shooters" because there's nothing else to do.. since you're going to die no matter what, because of a cheater.
  21. WalkerDown (DayZ)

    hacks?

Official = hacked. Private HIVE: it may exists (depending of the settings).
  22. WalkerDown (DayZ)

    3 Cheaters (with logs)

The problem is that you posted the IP's of "normal" players with their nicknames. Reported.
  23. WalkerDown (DayZ)

This kind of behavior is unacceptable! *TAKE 2*

If an "admin" doesn't know what's a IP address is.. and how it works.. then it doesn't even remotely deserves to call himself an "admin". It's you that didn't got the point: when the IP are dynamics, there's NO reasons to post em; and when the IP's are static you risk (because of a mistake) of posting a STATIC INFORMATION OF A INNOCENT USER. Now you got the point? You don't understand the importance of the privacy (especially on internet), and i'm not here to teach you. Byez.
  24. WalkerDown (DayZ)

    Cheating itself

Yes, and i'm asking to handle the issue there today before moving to another product that will use the same engine (coz removing the script wouldn't eliminate the cheaters). Otherwise i will end to spend more money for another game full of cheaters.
  25. WalkerDown (DayZ)

    Cheating itself

The standalone comes from the same company that have SOLD to me Arma2. To have the cheater issue addressed i have to give em more money? There's no "other" things.. the game is totally ruined by cheaters. The number of threads about the cheater is the indicator of how huge is the problem, they should give to it the top priority, instead of making another game with the same issue... oh wait, i forgot.. MONEY!
