  1. So suggested in the server I was playing on today that there should be a noob training course or the like. Many of the new players on the server voiced their interest in the idea and I'd like to see if there is anyone out there who wants to help with this. I based the idea of the Academy on the Stalkers of metro 2033 and their training which is briefly touched upon in the book. New players would be guided to a central base of the academy. A well guarded and convinient location which would serve as HQ for both initiates and full fledged Stalkers. Initiates would be briefed on orienteering, what areas to avoid, how to sneak, etc to learn the basis as a group. Then once they become apprentices or some such title, they would be sent on solo missions to retrieve specific items, increasing in difficulty as they progress through the ranks. Some of these would require observation by a stalker such as a barracks raid in order to insure it is carried out. Then upon learning all they need to know they would graduate to go do what they want as well as be able to display the stalker tag and show others they know what they are doing. If there is interest in this I would love to see it happen, I imagine plenty of new players would love it and it would give experienced players bored of surviving the north a fun way to help out and improve the community. I know this game is very hard a first and this could help new players a lot. I have a teamspeak server at my disposal and would be able to have a channel dedicated to this group and its students. I would like to use this thread to see how much interest there would be so if you like the idea please tell me, if you have suggestions feel free to add them, and if you would like to join the ranks of the stalkers as and instructor please make that known as well. If there is sufficient support I will follow this up with another thread announcing it officially.
  2. To deal with the rampant distrust as well as offer a little character customization that represents you as a player and your play style I have a suggestion to clear up some confusing without destroying the fun aspect of distrust and danger. We already have two skins implemented, Camo and ghillie suit. Now I know there are more skins available in Arma 2 and they could be put to good use. The first step is to make many more Skins spawn and available. The second is to increase spawn rate of skins. More common but still unlikely to find the one you want Finally, make some skins restricted by morality Example: In order to where camp you need morality over 1000, to wear the old bandit skin you need at most -1000. Civilian cloths are neutral as is ghillie suit. At high levels of morality; friendly, military, and such skins become available, maybe a medic skin for our friendly wasteland doctors. I don't know what skins Arma has available so I don't have specific examples. At very low morality maybe a badass camo suit or something becomes available. The lowest morality skins might need something to make them worth being a giant shoot me sign, so maybe they would come with night vision goggles or a DMR or something. Skins would identify a player's morality only if the player chooses to do so, and would offer unique rewards for either path. If you stumbled upon someone in a high morality skin you would know that they were trustworthy but there is still the chance they will kill you. Bandits would get to look awesome and maybe some other rewards at a slightly higher risk of death. Characters would represent your play style better and allow players to express themselves a little. tl;dr Add lots of new skins but make some of them only available to people with high morality, some available to only low morality, and some that are neutral so not all paranoia is lost. And because some people wouldn't care about skins and would just stick with civilian clothes
