(Rocket) Why are we logging in on the coast
freddyquency replied to Siggy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I dunno.. maybe update both your Arma2 and DayZ mod properly, then join servers that are running the latest versions of both... Its been said under this very topic multiple times by multiple people. If you read other topics about updating recently, it has also been said that people are having trouble updating with both the 6Launcher and DayZ Commander, so you may need to manually update. -

After properly updating both Arma2 and DayZ, this is not happening to me any longer. -

I am not sure exactly what I did, but I think I just fully updated both Arma 2 and DayZ. I seemed to have had to do this via both DayZ commander and 6Launcher, though I think I just prematurely closed DayZ Commander before the Arma2 updater finished. After doing so, I have joined a couple of different servers and I was not ported to the coast, I logged out near Prud, the pond in the Old Fields, and joined 2 different servers, both times I logged in at the same spot I logged out at. I am not sure what is happening here... I am beginning to think that this is Either a bug, or a poorly executed deterrent which has no blatantly obvious logic associated with it.. -

If this is indeed a feature, then props for the team for trying to solve a nasty exploitation problem. However, this solution, in my opinion is horrible simply because it punishes those that do not "server hop" to exploit loot or PVP situations. I know this next example is a bit far fetched, but pertinent none the less. Personally i like my second amendment right which is the, "right of the people to keep and bear arms" and I do not want this right taken away because some other jackasses abuse it and do something stupid. -
[1.5.7] Keep Spawning at the Coast
freddyquency replied to rickenwing@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
So after testing this on my own, If I stay on the same server, I do not spawn at the coast. If I change servers, no matter how long (tested at 1 hour) I wait and no matter where I was when I logged off last, I end up back at the coast. I can't even express in words how frustrating this is. Way to many variables to consider for this to be a server hopping deterrent. To list a few: -The server you were playing on an hour ago isn't working any longer for some reason or another. -Hackers on the server you are currently on, so you hop to another hacker free server. -Kicked for ping being to high, in which case you should find a server that your ping isn't too high at. -Friends are playing on a different server. -It is night time on the server you were on before. (Suck it up, try playing at night, it is actually fun!!) Still a legit reason to hop servers though.... -When you log into the server you were on before, you get like 5 FPS. (I am not sure this is a server problem, but it often seems so). I am sure there are many other reasons why this is not a good fix for a nasty issue. Unfortunately, I do not have any recommendations on a viable fix.. -

[1.5.7] Keep Spawning at the Coast

Same thing happened to me. Though I got killed seconds after logging in on the coast of Elektro. 550 kills, Ghillie Suit, Coyote Pack, NV Gogs, MK 48, and an M9SD with plenty of ammo, all gone!! Please fix this issue!!! -

This is ridiculous.. Joined a server, Ping too high, so I choose a different server, then spawn on coast. Sniped within seconds of logging in.. 550 kills, ghillie suit, NV goggles, Coyote Pack, all gone... This is not the right solution to the problem, please fix this because if it stays this way, I will not be playing this game any longer.
