I'm playing the 1.7.1.1 patch and I've yet to find a water bottle! I'm down to my last can of pepsi that I got off a zed, it don't look promising... -
I've also got a ghillie suit in my backpack but not sure to put it on or not, clarification on this issue would be nice.

I am aware that Bohemia Interactive do a Steam version via their website. I presume that's what you bought. You do need to download both games and have them in the same folder in order for it to work. It is then called Combined Operations, as long as you do that you should be fine bud. -

Start both games as administrator individually or if using steam run that as admin before trying to join servers. The CD-Key might not be registered to Windows Registry.

Sorry to disappoint OP but I and other people on this forum don't want this game to be another mainstream one. So you are bound to get people having a go at the casuals. If this game is doomed to obscurity and fade as you put it than so be it. I rather it fail trying to be different than tailoring to the COD players for another 'casual' game. -
