New Update Makes DayZ Extremely Difficult
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to GrassyKnoll's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, I heard every Zombie encounter is going to be like fighting the main boss in any typical game. Constantly dying, they take massive amounts of damage and requires 10 friends to take down just one zombie. (sarcasm) Day Z is unforgiving, not difficult. -
New Update Makes DayZ Extremely Difficult
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to GrassyKnoll's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Extremely difficult is one thing. Zombies that have instant backup out of no where is another (Near-instant respawns). Zombies hitting you through a car with no discernable damage to it? (No windscreen damage). A timer that makes you wait to log out out of the game even if you aren't in danger? All of those, I agree are flaws. Not having peripheral dots is an improvement however, in my opinion of course. Adding more zombies, I agree is not an issue either. Though I question if you even read any of that or if you just cheerlead anything, especially things that make entirely no sense? I understand everyone has their opinions of the game and like various features while others don't, but those things are obvious flaws and don't do anything to logically increase the difficulty of the game. -
Who else LIKES the new update?
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to MissSweeney's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I welcome you to try it out yourself. Zombies are interested in any sounds. Direct chat, Drinking, Eating, etc. All of which I do not think give you any bars on your ear indicator. I don't mind them hearing me fuel, I mind killing 7 zombies and 7 more respawn instantly. It didn't take me long to figure out a way around it. I noticed that if I was between the helicopter and the refuel tank I could refuel/refill without moving. Zombies would come over due to the sound of the fuel, but never seemed to notice me (even though I was knelt down and 5 feet away from them). I would then dispatch of them and quickly get in the helicopter and fly off so that the instant respawns didn't come and ruin my windscreen again. A broken game mechanic only needs broken logic to combat it I guess. -
New Update Makes DayZ Extremely Difficult

No, I just get tired of people saying "Zombies aren't a threat and need to be made harder." It seems there really is no pleasing some people, and if this stage of Zombie is where you get off then great for you, but for many I've noticed there is no end to the cycle. They never seem to be satisfied with the Zombies until they are Cheetah-fucking you to death like Usain Bolt on bath salts. Though let me tell you, Zombies still aren't a threat because I am accustomed to the game. You might fear them and are scared of them, but there will come a time when you don't... As will the rest of the community, and then the forums will be.. "Zombies are still too easy." and it'll just be a downward spiral until Zombies are tearing everything apart and you can't do anything in the game because of it's clunky animations and lack of design for a proper melee system to protect you. -

Not to take sides, but those feeling you have are only temporary and once you've lived and played enough of the game you won't have those same feelings anymore. Then what? You'll be on here saying that the Zombies aren't hard anymore. Please be realistic. -
Who Else Thinks 1.7.5.1 Pushes Annoyance and Survival Too Far?

I purposely began including PVP in a lot of my play. I am horrible with KB+M, and this has really improved in my abilities and confidence. First time I would ever get shot at, my heart would be racing and I'd be like damn I'm gonna die... Now I am more battle-hardened, focused, and ready. If I am in PVP mode, no one is safe. Not safe from my hatchet, my makarov, my Lee Enfield, my DMR, my whatever. Balances out my playstyle. I might not be the best, but atleast I can fight back less you get me with your first shot. -
Have you ever had a good play?
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to samzerks88's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Fraggle nailed it. There is little to do in the game, and it gets very repetitive. Usually that means you need to take a break from it and come back when maybe something interesting changes or you feel the need to play it again. I really enjoy flying the helicopters and planes around. I tend to always stick with the generic vanilla Day Z, but sometimes those custom private hives with 500+ vehicles can be fun too. I also, don't give a rats ass about my gear. If I'm in a friendly mode, I will even communicate to another play... "Hey man, kill me if you want, but I'm not going to shoot at you." Some days I feel like being nice, some days I feel like being mean. So when you've done everything your imagination can think of, and you're still asking yourself the question of why you are playing the game then that pretty much means you need to find a new game; as sad as that sounds. Hopefully the Standalone provides us the tools and content we need, to really make Day Z our story. -
You also have to go into Arma and disable Day Z...

New Update Makes DayZ Extremely Difficult
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to GrassyKnoll's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Everyone has opinions of the game. Some people like certain features while others do not. The popular bandit/no bandit skin argument... Or the Debug monitor/no debug monitor argument. One would like to think that an update will only improve, and not ruin things. The term whiner is frequently used when one party disagrees with a decision the update made, but those same people whine when something they think is important to them is changed. The latest update did a lot of good, especially with the performance of the game. It also fixed the hearing of the Zombies, but some people think that the hearing/sight is a little too advanced; and they make a valid point. Others don't understand while when the combat indicator is not going off that they have to wait a really long counted 30 seconds to abort for the night, and make another valid point. Then you have things where they implement one idea, but don't fix a preexisting problem. IE, helicopters leak fuel if their windscreens are damaged; which is pretty easily done in the new update since Zombies attack windscreens. So why do helicopters still leak fuel if their windscreens are damaged??? Then there comes the issue of why do Zombies respawn almost immediately? What purpose does that serve? If Zombies never die because as soon as one goes down, another spawns, then what is the point in engaging Zombies and wasting your valuable ammunition or risk getting the one-hit bleed/leg fracture? I will note that some things, and again this goes back to a player's perspective on what they think is important, that players overreact about certain things. The new barrel roll? Not a concern. The increased infection chances? Who cares... The infection thing is yet another broken mechanic of this game anyways. -
DayZ SA: One Key One Character
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, lets hope the Standalone has better measures to prevent people from doing various hacks/exploits. Otherwise, if Frankie makes his name public and people join his server there is no telling where he is ? Secondly, there is very few things in the game that displays your name... and they can be edited/blurred I'm sure... -
DayZ SA: One Key One Character
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think along with male / female selection, you will also have to give your character a name. You cannot change that characters name so as long as that character is alive you will be forced to use that name... Don't like that name? Want to change it? Die. In the character selection screen you can just restart as the same character/name/appearance/etc for those who aren't concerned with changing anything... Or you can create a new look/gender/name to change it up. Only way to get out of your name is by death and not by editing your profile name and rejoining a server. -

KOS will still exist. Also, you can still lose zombies rather easily. I find it enjoyable to go in a city and shoot off a couple rounds just to attract zombies. They are, and will be forever silly. A sniper in the tree line taking out players will have plenty of time to move and relocate before the Zombies sniff out his location, or get out a hatchet or something to combat them. Yesterday alone, I was shot by a Lee Enfield in the middle of Elektro (messing around, crawling to hospital with broken leg) The guy who shot me? Never died by Zombies. I was at NW Airfield. A player began to engage me. I shot, killed, looted, and hid his body while being right next to some Zombies. Zombies, however hard you make them, won't deter how people play the game. I watched one guy run circles around the barracks to get the aggro of the zombies, while his buddy looted the barracks. Then they both ditched the zombies and went on their merry way. Having Zombies aggro you indefinitely, or hit through walls, or break your legs in the first hit, etc doesn't make Zombies harder it just makes the experience stupid. Having Zombies spawn rapidly, is stupid. Nothing like wasting that last round of ammunition to clear out the area so you can safely do whatever you were doing; only for every single Zombie to respawn instantly. Here is to the Standalone, for we hope the Zombies and overall function of the game will be 100x better. -
8 hours of DayZ ruined - Got to love them Hackers!
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to Harlico's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is completely false, and private hives are far from being the solution as well. One solution is to join low population servers as they don't give a hacker the satisfaction as higher population servers do; but unfortunately that means a lot of boringness. Hacking has been ramped up, if anything in my opinion. Hacking occurs in public or private hives, and generally in higher population servers where more people can be effected by their moronic ways. Another solution I've seen is the password protected servers. -

Also I would like to mention, while moving through some terrain I broke a leg and began bleeding. Prior to the bleeding I was at full health but after I luckily bandaged myself in time my blood meter was completely blank. I was fighting the unconsciousness every couple seconds... So, short of having a friend with a blood bag I hunted and ate 1 cow, and 3 sheep... and still didn't have full blood. The game made some improvements and I like the fact that the Czech backpack now holds 24 slots, the game seems to run smoother, removal of peripherals (but there seems to be player peripheral dots still), needing to boil water, etc. There are some blatantly obvious flaws in some of the decisions however. -
New Update Makes DayZ Extremely Difficult
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to GrassyKnoll's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't really care what they do with the Zombies, though it amazes me how people think making them faster, hit harder, etc will make people who play a certain way change their mind. "Zombies aren't a threat" is something that is constantly tossed around on here. Almost always I get glitched and hit by a zombie who makes me bleed, and about 50% of the time they break my leg. It is what it is. Yesterday, I was playing on a server where I broke my leg at the Elektro Firehouse/Powerplant. I hacked down the Zombie (who glitched through a wall and magically hit me) and crawled all the way towards the hospital. A guy with a Lee Enfield shot me as I crawled. Lee Enfield, loud gun. The server had death messages on, and it would have been safe to assume that in this new update that guy would have been surrounded for sure by a mass of Zombies. He didn't die, which suggests he successfully killed a player, with a loud gun, and evaded the Zombies. All in all the patch really didn't make a difference in how people play, nor should it. In short, if you wanted Zombies to be "more of a threat" then you should be happy. Though if you wanted Zombies to be more of a threat, thinking people would cooperate more and be more friendly then obviously you're clueless. -
There had been a few servers I noticed, when dead, would bring up the male/female selection window. Sadly, being a male, I didn't take notice. However, having died in other servers I can see your problem as there is no selection/disabled feature. With that being said, this mod has many of issues and if not being able to enjoy yourself as a female in the game is your primary concern then I'd try my best to just play as a guy; if you were wanting to play. Otherwise, I suspect April/May will be the release of the Standalone barring any hiccups.

Who else LIKES the new update?
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to MissSweeney's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The new patch seems fine, but having played extensively yesterday there are some major issues. I had a helicopter and was refueling it, but obviously zombies were attracted to the sound of the fuel. No problem, I dispatched of them quietly with a hatchet. The problem was, like 30 seconds later more Zombies showed up. So obviously the quick zombie respawn time is pretty retarded. Secondly, I got in the helicopter to check the fuel and naturally nearby Zombies who weren't previously attracted to me, are suddenly attracted to me because I'm sitting in a helicopter without the engine on. So they begin hitting the helicopter. Again, no problem... Except any damage to the windscreens as we all know magically means you will leak fuel. -
"Rainbow Six Vegas" had this feature and it worked pretty well. It used some kind of facial recognition as well and obviously penis' and such were never detected by it. Also required the use of the Xbox Live Camera and you had to snap a front and side picture. Remember, there are people out there that like different things in their games. Just because you're satisfied with everyone running around with the same face doesn't mean that everyone thinks like you.

??? There are plenty of youtube videos demonstrating people firing .50 Cals from multiple positions... Standing, kneeling, etc. Firing it and hitting a long-range target are two different things however... You don't need to be built like arnie to do a lot of things. The M249 is carried by thousands of soldiers, weighing in around 22lbs fully loaded... On top of all the other weight that they are already carrying with body armor, helmet, ammunition, water and so forth. Yet they can still walk dozens of miles and engage targets at the end of it.

[Standalone] Quickjoin/No server list
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to DerMarv's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Anytime I go anywhere I make sure to check my surroundings because a player can be anywhere and it doesn't matter if there is 1 person on the map or 50. So, just as you are suggesting I do anyway. -
Top 5 things the latest devblog told us.
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to Rage VG's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't think loot will be harder, it will just be different. Obviously in the demonstration it was showing cans of bean which are a little easier to pick up than say a magazine or a box of matches. I applaud them for this direction, but it should also mean that things will be much more abundant as there are just so many locations for loot and so many buildings with loot; so in essence looting will be easier. Unless every single home you go into is filled with empty tin cans... -
A message to the people who are mad about the patch
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The game will never dictate how I play. That's what is great about the sandbox style. Until there is some interesting content, I will always start up the game for a little bit, and do whatever I want. If that means running through elektro and shooting anything I desire then so be it. Zombies being a threat has no impact on my gameplay. They are nothing more than a nuisance. The game has nothing for me to value my character and so if I die, so what? That aspect of the game has come and gone, I no longer value my life and your life will be equally unvaluable. When a game lacks replayability you have to find ways to keep playing it, or to not play it at all. Some people enjoy hoarding loot, making camps. Others enjoy seeing how long they can survive in the wild. Others enjoy PVP, whether that is sitting on a rooftop and shooting bambi' or hunting down players. I really don't know what you people expect from this game? You loot, you find your desired gear, and then you survive and I use that word loosely. Maybe if the animals and hunting were more interesting and realistic you would see people out there playing Deer Hunter DayZ version; but that isn't the case. Maybe if people could occupy/defend areas and wipe out zombies all together you can see another aspect of the game, as I am sure if given the chance most people would love the idea of claiming a terroritory; but again that isn't the case. So as far as Zombies are concerned, they still mean nothing to me. Zombies can overrun my position, but I always have an alternate route or I generally don't go in those buildings. We still have an effective hatchet if it comes down to that as well. For those of you who say that the fact that Zombies walk inside buildings ruins the game, then I sincerely hope the SA has a really polished melee system or else you will never ever be able to effectively combat anything in this game and then there goes the game all together. If you want running Zombies then you should look at games that do it effectively (Dead Island) and their game was mostly focused on Melee. -
Having been fortunate enough to try out the M107 in my time served in the military, I will admit that it is a loud and powerful gun. While in the prone position it has next to no kick because of the bipod and general weight of the weapon when properly fired. The weapon is long, and it is heavy. So even though it can be shoulder fired it isn't exactly like someone can hit something very accurately. It however won't knock you on your ass or something as some people would like to believe however. As far as ear protection, even an M4/M16 can be loud especially in an indoors environment and fired multiple times. Though having earplugs in is a double edged sword as you cannot really hear your surroundings which is a problem in a combat environment where you must be extremely alert; and because of such unless we are practing on a range ear plugs are not in (I can't speak for everyone though obviously...) I'm against nerfing in all aspects, as realistically a weapon can generally be cycled as fast as a person can pull the trigger. However, this and most of Day Z's weapons do need some skill. Rarely is recoil a problem, and pulling the trigger that fast and trying to maintain a good sight picture will most likely tend to pull the round from trigger squeeze. For accurate shots, I'd like to see you having to hold down the mouse after the shot for a second or something before releasing it and firing again; just as you would if you were pulling a trigger. In the end we are playing a video game...
