I am not saying WarZ is any good or trying to compare it to DayZ, I know it's confusing. All I am saying is they are the same concept. Take a shooter game, and turn it into a Zombie/Survival MMO. From what I've seen in videos, WarZ looks to have implemented quite a few features that I'm not seeing in War Inc that makes it stand out as its own game... where as DayZ just has zombies and you can eat/drink food... but the rest of the game is still about shooting and vehicles. I will probably get DayZ SA, don't get me wrong. Though I might just wait a few months post-release as even the latest "interview" with rocket states that the game will be in development for like a year after release. I just don't see the SA product being a game changer compared to DayZmod and dunno why they would release it early?

Dont remove Ghillie suits, Make them Burn! ;)
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to Serious Stan's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Setting forest fires seems super complicated for today's gaming technology at a massive scale... so... I don't see that happening. -
Well, as of right now my assessment of DayZ SA is similar to Dallas. I don't think it will be much different from DayZ mod at all, and I think it's being rushed (especially with claim of being released End of 2012) because I think there are way too many things wrong with DayZ for them to fix them all. I'm just trying to get an idea of what we can expect change-wise on release of the SA, if anything much aside from the few things like different zombie AI, more enterable buildings, and larger map. I know people boast about how large this map is already, but like 95% of it is fields/woods. I never buy anything anymore until i've seen enough to convince me to buy it (so for you youtubers, I'll give ya some views!) I just don't want to pay for the same exact product, is what I'm saying. Why would I buy DayZ twice (I know I purchased Arma II, but I purchased it only to play DayZ) when there are so few changes.

I don't know. Maybe I didn't see enough War Inc footage but in WarZ they were being fortifications, had a trading system, a user generated quest system, even silly things like time capsules. Can someone link that Dev Q&A?
-
I have noticed most of them have been mentioned (I've been browsing the suggestions for an hour or so now), but again I don't think it hurts to reiterate the things I feel are important. One thing I haven't seen mentioned is car keys (unique to their respective vehicle).

customized clothes with more for standalone ?
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to Flexxo 4100's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
To go with that I went into a town and only had an M1911 with one magazine... A zombie was chasing me into a building and I shot him... only to find out about 15 more zombies followed him and I was running out of room, luckily I found another magazine and was able to kill them all but if I didn't find that magazine I would have been overun/killed. The fast zombie thing is just stupid really, and if anything it just deters me back into the woods to lose them. I don't engage them. -

Dreygar (DayZ) replied to Flexxo 4100's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Zombie animation when they are running around or hitting you in a frenzy is absolutely horrendous, but I guess this is what you like? The only time the zombies behave like zombies is when they aren't argoed or inside buildings... I think weapon sounds should have a greater distance/attract more zombies... and there should be more zombies within towns... -
Radio Frequencies , stable message feeds and Communication
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to monalisacry's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the idea, but I would like to expand on it some for you. Civilian radios should have just a few channels. 3-5 Military radios should have frequency hop/secured frequences like the military. The frequency hops around but stays synced within all radios on the same time as it and so no one but those synced to you can hear what you are saying. -
Only after I posted my thread, and some things were mentioned and some things were not. Though it doesn't hurt to reiterate what a player wants in their gameplay.

Bring back the debug menu! or at least another way to find out my humanity!
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to elf cakes's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Remove humanity is my suggestion. Nothing ingame should tell another player, beside that player, of how they are going to respond. -
Simple idea to fix mindless deathmatching
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to thealgerian's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I disagree with the whole bandit/hero thing. I agree that it should be a choice of the player. This is a sandbox to do as we wish, game mechanics shouldn't change your appearance based on your choices. -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
A lot of great suggestions, and because of its popularity we'll see if any have been read/considered/implemented in the Standalone. -
List of various suggestions for stand alone.
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to Lupatchi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like a lot of the suggestions here, though it really seems like we won't be getting SA this year (and if we do) it won't be much different than what we have in the mod. -
Endgame content in Standalone
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
One last suggestion would be that every vehicle (minus those that do not require) have a set of car keys. Whoever posesses the car keys can start the car/drive (if it is repaired obviously). Any player can hold up to one set of keys... that will stop people from just hoarding keys. This will give you a sense of owning something and while you would still hide the vehicle it would make it harder for someone to run off with it. Now let me be clear. This hasn't happened to me but many times I have run off with someones ride. It just adds more immersive/personalized play. To go with that though, there would be a new item! Hot-wiring kits, which are consumed on use and would hot wire any vehicle you find. -
Endgame content in Standalone
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think what he is saying and what I agree with is there needs to be more content. What I really want to know is what the Standalone is planning to offer us. Is it just the DayZ mod, with rewritten zombies and some more enterable buildings? I think the user interface and a lot other things need A LOT of work . Just manipulating your gear is a pain in the ass, and I am tired of counting how many slots are in my tent before items start to disappear. I don't think this game will be anywhere near ready by end of the year. I stopped playing for months because I had gotten bored. I am not a computer gamer really because I am horrible with keyboard and mouse, and most games I have ever played on the PC were MMO type. This game fits in the MMO category with FPS aspects. (What Fallen Earth wished it was) There needs to be a lot more content. One of the best sandbox games I ever played was Starwars Galaxies. Huge persistant worlds and endless content. Crafting is an almost given in a game's success. Crafting alone can add so many features to the game. Whether that be making a make-shift silencer, ammo, melee weapon, etc... Also our lame excuse for "base building" options is also limiting additional content. Just ask yourself, what do you do in this game? If you find the best gear and then go hunt other players and are content... then those players will probably disagree with most things needed in the game. Though if you're like me, and finding a car and some gear isn't the most you want in the game then you are probably wanting more features. This is an MMO, whether you want to admit it or not... and here are some related content that I think it needs... Crafting: Needed in any MMO for success. Do I doubt this game will be successful? No, people have already paid for Arma 2 just to play it. Though this will help put it over the top. More basebuilding: (Whether that be something as tedious as cutting trees/making boards, making nails, building structures, etc) Just imagine how much time consuming/fulfilling it would be to just make your own tree stand? It is already time consuming to find a vehicle/repair it and you can see the fulfillment when you drive off in your new ride. This might not be for everyone, but again if it was in the game and you got bored with whatever you find fun... you will probably find enjoyment/resort to it at some point in the game. Tank traps, barbed wire.. is a crappy implement for this. Larger map: When you get 40 players in the map, there is very room for them all to fit. (One being there are only a few major cities/areas with decent loot) While this means immediate player engagement/interaction... I just think more larger cities and a variety would be nice.) Outdoors activities: We have "hunting" persay, but we could really benefit from fishing, making traps, etc. These are just a few of my "main" things I'd like to see. -
Can't Even Play DayZ Anymore.
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to perkins704051@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
People really need to stop using this as an excuse. It's a mod of a game. Does Arma 2 have all these issues? Do the other Arma 2 mods have all these issues? -
Guys, use dayzCommander
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to yousolold@yahoo.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I checked Dayz Commander out of curiosity... and just by the screen shots it does look like an improvement over Six Updater. I'll give it a go. -
Can't Even Play DayZ Anymore.

I can't seem to find a server that isn't laggy/low fps and unplayable. So, unplayable here too. -
Still playing?...let everyone know how you feel about dayz right now
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to pooya's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It just needs more content to keep people interested. Guys like the trading company have a pretty interesting thing going on, to add a little depth to the game so a lot of interest might need to come from player interaction other than just shooting people. I just hope Rocket is a creative guy and can come up with a lot of content other than just... go find food/water/sneak past zombies/kill other players. As mentioned before, would be nice if players could take over cities and fortify them or create their own outposts. Would give bandits something to do (infiltrate/kill) would give people who like to work cooperatively something to do to collect materials/build/defend. That is the basis of survival. Character and gear customization would be a plus too, just to help people personalize/immerse themselves. Since this is a permadeath game, it would still be a nice addition even if you did lose everything you worked for. I feel the "hardcore" players of this game though are only concerned with the FPS aspect of it and just want to kill people and don't care about the side content, in my short experience on the forums anyone who makes comments or dislikes... that is what they fall back on. Different floats for different boats. -
Just discovered that you can use a Xbox 360 Controller.
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to CoolCain10's topic in New Player Discussion
Minus all the rambling about how the Keyboard/mouse is so much better, I'm glad for threads like this! I'm horrible at keyboard and mouse, I don't care how 'precise' some people find it. I maneuver with a controller much better. If it helps me even 10% over using a kb/m then I'll be happy. I might die either way, but almost positive I'll die against a player while I'm using a kb/m. -
First, The concept of this game is simply amazing. I love the idea of survival and with the addition of Zombies. I, like many others, purchased Arma 2 to play this game specifically and there are a few issues that is probably going to turn me off to this game. 1. The Zombies. Why do zombies climb ladders, swim, etc? Rocket calls them "infected" but the game calls them "zombies" so... I'll call them zombies too. Either or, it's silly. Also, if you're in the water and you just let the zombie approach. The zombie will actually stand on the water and begin attacking you. The only ways to avoid zombies is to hop in a pine tree or run through a barn and escape out the other side. Kind of silly. 2. Douchebags. This has been touched on many times i've seen... but seriously. What does one get from just killing another player, aside from their loot? Oh... that's right, the loot! Lame. It's not that hard to find your own stuff, and if that's your idea of fun to just shoot other people then you're pretty pathetic. I've been shot with nothing, and I've been shot after days of collecting things to survive. All I wanted to do was attempt to find a larger backpack so I can better thrive in the wild. 3. I attempt to join the least populated servers so I can avoid most of the nuisances but no matter where you go it always seems to follow. Starting over repeatedly isn't so bad in the beginning when you're learning the ropes but the more you learn/gather... sure.. it makes it easier because you have more knowledge of what to do but in the end... what is the point? Some lame hacker is going to transport you somewhere and everyone is going to kill one another, or some douchebag is going to kill you for your axe and flashlight. I might give this one more go... but after days of playing I'm just tired of having to restart over and over again. The element of the human factor can make things tense, but people know that this is only a game so that factor is stupid to even consider. I just don't see how this game will ever progress unless it fixes the PVP.

My playstyle I don't think is capable at this stage in the game. I actually want cooperation and teamwork, not to run around solo/surviving on the wild. I have died countless times from zombies, and a few times from players. One time I was trying to team up with this guy. We both were starting out, he had an axe and so did I. I went to go chop up a zombie, and he came up behind me and chopped me up. I'm sure the whole time he was like. "I'ma cut this dude up, ahhaa.." Ah well, people are simply stupid. The game lacks depth. There is nothing in this game worth hording over/shooting people for; other than your personal enjoyment. At the time of being sniped I had a good amount of equipment as mentioned. (Rifle, Pistol, Cooked Meat, Water Bottles, Morphine, Gullie suit, Matches, Compass, watch, map, etc, etc... ) I was pretty proud I was able to collect all that stuff. I could have just stayed near my water source and lived off the wild but I wanted a nice shiney new backpack, which I was hoping would be near the airfield. Sadly I ran into Mr. Snipe-alot. The game will never get boring enough for me to want to run around and shoot other people, I'll just stop playing all together if it becomes super boring; which I feel could be inevitable because of that whole lacking of depth. The zombie AI is horrible. A gunshot isn't going to give a pinpoint location on you. They will chase you endlessly. They defeat the purpose of barbed wire, doors, ladders, water. PVP via Computer gaming is not really my cup of tea. Other than trying to team up, scavenge to get vehicles up and running... that appears to be the "end" game for me.

I feel yourself and Bacon are missing my point. In my opinion, and in my eyes this game is seen as a zombie/survivor game. Not a Kill Each other, and oh it has zombies in it, game. The survivor part comes by scavenging for food/water, etc. That's the extent of the depth in this game, which has potential to be quite in depth. This game however lacks the replay value (reason for this post) in that players get bored/just want to kill other players/etc. There needs to be more to this game then just collecting all the cool stuff you want, getting bored and then killing other players or resorting to hacking/scripting/whatever those weirdos do. Hence the suggestion of adding more things to repair/build/scavenge to keep people occupied. The game is not hard at all, and it's not tense in any way shape or form. You guys keep bringing up things like "Stop running out in the open" and all that. No one is saying I, or others are doing that when they are shot. I've spent countless times rubbing my belly raw crawling around trying to get to where I need to be. When I was killed earlier (mentioned in this thread) I was trying to enter the NW Airfield Hangars, and there is only one way to get to them and no brush. I was prone and crawling, hence how easily he shot me. There is no tactical way to approach that. Throw out some smoke? Yeah, and attract the 10 zombies I was trying to avoid in the first place. Again, my opinion... but I don't see the point in gearing up just to camp out somewhere and wait for someone to approach just to kill them for sport (I say sport because there is probably little on them that you are interested in anyway.) To each their own and this is my opinion, my thoughts. We'll see how the game progresses for better or worse. It's gotta do something more to keep me interested though. Even if I had everything I wanted and camped out in the wild, surviving peacefully that will get boring. Maybe I'll go repair/collect vehicles and by the Jay Leno of DayZ or something at that point. Either way shooting people for no reason is still a tool bag thing to do. If you argue that fact then you're probably the toolbag shooting people for no reason, the end.

Sorry, but clearly you are the douchebag-type we speak of. No one is saying that we don't want PVP. I simply suggested maybe there should be PVP areas. IE, Beach = No PVP. Small towns = No PVP. Lare Cities = PVP. Castles = PVP. PVP areas will have the best loot obviously, with a slight chance of good loot popping up in the No PVP areas just for random. You start with no food, no water, no weapons... you are FORCED to go into areas to obtain those things, same areas people like to shoot people. There is no way around it. Stop being stupid and forcing people to only think your way. And if your idea of replay value is shooting people, then maybe you have the wrong game? I don't see this as COD with zombies, sorry.
