    Fix Land Navigation

In any case... I think the map should be read correctly if it's going to use military maps, compasses, etc.

    Better zombies

I am Legend zombies were actually like Zombie/Vampires or some crazy crap like that. I'm all for slow Zombies. I think people put too much emphasis on the zombies where as the zombies are only the small setting of the game but the survival aspects are the true foundation of the game. I don't think the zombies should sprint/run. I think they should lolligag around, till they smell, hear, or see something they want to eat... They could even "quicken" their pace, but still walk. Though I think aside from the walking dead type zombies, Zombieland zombies are second best (which do run/sprint)

Fact is, it is based of a military simulator... and when the standalone comes it will be based around realistic survival...

    Workbenches and weapon upgrades

Traps are great, but I think they should be able to be made out in the wild. From simple animal trapping to human/zombie defensive traps... again, you can't start out making the advanced traps but you work your way up... materials used means the more effective they will be. I know all these wishes are just hot air because I doubt any game will take these ideas and make them a reality. Whether too hard or seen as not worth the time.

    Workbenches and weapon upgrades

Starwars Galaxies in my opinion was the ultimate sandbox, and the crafting system was pretty extensive. Though the game was considered too hard and they dumbed it down to the point that it died off. This game is already geared towards the hardcore and I think an extensive crafting system would be great. I'm not sure about having static workbenches around the map, as that feels like Fallout. Weapons, again modular design. Take an AR-15 platform. You could make it as complicated as having to find/repair the major groups. Bolt assembly, upper/lower reciever, barrel assembly. These parts can be found individually, and obviously interchangeable per platform. This means you don't need 10 different styles of gun in the game, but only 1 style of gun and countless alternatives. You have a single shot AR-15 civilian version but find a lower reciever that allows 3 burst or full auto, so you swap it out. You have a 14" barrel but find an 18" for longer ranger, you can swap it out and vice versa. Or you have something as rare as finding an 7.62/.308 converted upper reciever and magazines to now chamber your AR-15/M4/M16 platform into 7.62 which shares the same ammunition as the M240, etc... Then you have interchangeable stocks and optics/sights. Stocks might not do much other than being able to personalize the weapon. The game will need some things that just simply don't do anything for the gameplay, but allow the person to immerse themselves. Supressors is a big thing and can be found. Attached/removed as well as makeshift silencers. I do like the idea of a character gaining experience the more they do something. The better materials/experience you have the better products you make and thus the more pull you have towards trading... This would also make your character more valuable to a group, and would suck if you died because you lose all that. I mean... crafting in itself is endless in possibilities from being able to make your own clothing, backpacks, armored vests (You can salvage ballistic material from damaged vests, they won't be as good as new vests but still offer protection), etc... Some people might turn their nose up to these ideas and I really don't know why, all I do know is if it was in the game and you needed something... you would find a way to make it yourself or try to find a group that could make it for you.

    DayZGame vs DayZMod

This probably won't be what you were expecting, but I have a different question... First let me begin by saying I have never played WarZ, and have only seen the videos (and videos of that of War Inc). I am not interested in playing WarZ, as it just has an arcady feel. DayZ, is a mod of Arma 2. WarZ, is essentially the same thing of War Inc. from what I've seen/heard/read. Though comparing War Inc & WarZ, and the options and features they were able to implement it looks like they really transformed the game into a solid standalone product. Though they claim it has been in development for 2 years where as DayZ SA only like 6 months. So my question is... Will DayZ (in less than 2 months) be able to release a product that will truly transform it from it's Arma 2 mod to make it a solid Standalone product... or will it just be DayzMod ... slightly shinier? Reason I ask is because all the information available from the Dev team suggests that it won't be much different from the Mod. More enterable buildings, slightly larger map, possibly better zombies, possibly dogs, but no real addtional gameplay content. I like the game, but if I'm going to shell out more money to play this game I really want to feel like I'm playing a solid game, and not just DayzMod.

    DayZGame vs DayZMod

I've had DayZ since like May, but I have to keep putting it down and coming back to it because it's rather boring after a few days. I of course am waiting on the Standalone to see what it offers that the Mod doesn't. When I first played the game I was one of those people who were mad whenever they got randomly killed, but now it doesn't bother me and I don't even have any remorse towards killing another player. Just the content the game has right now is lacking in entertainment long-term for me. As mentioned in the previous post I purposely went on a mission to spawn/find/kill people on sight; just to see why people think that type of game play is fun... and it really wasn't. Though at this point gathering, looting, etc is equally as boring.

    DayZ standalone non-outcry discussion.

The photos shown were identical to what we already have in DayZ, and were also stated that they were an unfinished product. Though unfortunately don't expect much of an improvement to the finished product. I don't think it will be very impressive graphically, I do wish it was though.

    Some of my ideas.

I just hope Rocket & Co have a little imagination and creativity up their sleeve and just don't give us a shinier Dayz. This is some of my ideas I've mentioned. Better user-interface, This is just horrible. From trying to organize your equipment between yourself and backpack/storage to searching for loot. Crafting, I am sure this has been touched on immensely around the forums. Why? Because it's in demand in every game. Finding useless items that come together to make something worthwhile is almost better than just finding that new shiney weapon. It gives a player purpose, adds to the gameplay, and extends the gameplay. Building, we have things like bear traps (yet to see one), barbed wire, and tank traps... but really? Those are all useless. I'd like to see an extensive set of building tools which go with crafting. Cutting trees, making boards, making nails, building your own structure. The possibilities for this in gameplay is endless. Whether it's you just barricading yourself from zombies, or working with a group to make a little settlement. Activities, Fishing? Better vehicles, Why does the engine damage before the hull? This makes no sense. The engine is encased within the hull. Hull should be damaged and then after that the engine/fuel would be more susceptible to damage. Obviously the ATV won't be able to hold as much as the UAZ, and the UAZ won't be able to hold as much as the Bus... but as it sits right now they for the most part all hold the same amount of crap. Lastly! I really like the idea of every vehicle in the game to come with its own unique set of keys. Once a player adds those keys to their inventory (only able to hold one set) it becomes theirs until they give the keys away, or the keys are taken away. To go with that, a "hot wiring kit" could be added into the game, when used it will be consumed and will allow a player to steal that vehicle. When I look at this game I see it as being potentionally the best survival/horror game to date. I want to see all the stops pulled and not just Dayzmod without the Arma 2 unneeded AI tactics and slightly better zombies with more enterable buildings. I'm not asking for all this upfront but I would be curious as to the direction of the game.

    Better zombies

28 Days/Weeks is the worst of Zombie cinema in my opinion, and I am Legend is only slightly better. In DayZ there is nothing threatening about a zombie that chases you by sprinting, nor hard. You can just out manuever them and eventually lose them.. Find yourself in the firehouse top floor with only a few rounds of ammunition and no melee weapon and you'll be screwed by those "slow, not hard" zombies. I think Zombies should be attracted by smell, hearing, and sight. Weapons should have greater hearing distances, melee weapons should take more to kill a zombie. They should follow movement, even if that's from another Zombie... Zombies in this game is an afterthought though, it's the idea of zombies that brought you to this game but its core is the survival aspect. So I think a larger number and better reacting zombies would be fitting.

    DayZ Concept Art

Only problem I see with this is you're keeping to the DayZmod idea. I want to be able to find new clothing (individual pieces) and put them on. Whether mine are tattered and need replacing, or has something I can benefit from (better colors used to conceal me in the location I choose to be around, more pocket space, offers more warmth, boots that offer prolonged travel with less fatigue, etc) and not just "finds outfit on the ground, equips" and changes my whole look. So the only thing I do really like is the idea of growing beards, but would like the option of shaving them or sculpting them for those who just want a mustache, goatee, etc. I watched one of Rockets Q&As and I saw him using the Viral transformation zombie picture on his slide projection, so it's obvious he's seen this but I really hope there is more to the character customization than what this thread is suggesting and what we've had already in DayZ.

    DayZGame vs DayZMod

As far as paying for DLC Maps... the only downside to this is if within those maps are additional features. If it's just a map, no big deal... but if when you buy this map you will also get the ability to construct things, etc... then you really aren't buying a map you're buying a feature. I don't want additional content to be paid for, but earned/found within the game.

    DayZGame vs DayZMod

I guess I've taken the Arma platform for granted and see only DayZ as its fruitation! I was browsing youtube videos and came upon a few other Arma mods, though I don't know how to install them and one (BCPD) requires you to sign up on their forums and get Teamspeak, don't mind the forums thing but I don't want Teamspeak. Interesting never the less... but with Arma3 being even better, what's to stop someone from modding it to make their own DayZ-like game? With modular weapons, enterable buildings, etc already coming standard for Arma3... That is how I am judging DayZ Standalone. Would it be better than an Arma3 DayZ mod. I've been playing DayZ pretty extensively over the past few days and I think it's time to put it down already. There is just nothing overly interesting to do in the game. (Private hives allow you to type globally so that you can actually team up with people and not just shoot everyone) but then trying to orchestrate when those people will be on and you at the same time means you're most likely either not playing or stuck solo again. So, I thought... maybe just running around and shooting anyone I see would be fun... So I would run to electro or cherno with the first weapon I find and attempt to shoot at anything I see. I'm a pretty bad kb+m shooter though, but managed to get killed twice but get two kills... in the end it made me feel like I was playing COD with huge respawn times. Boring.

I'm really against DLC in every way shape or form.

    Fix Land Navigation

That's not much of my concern... I mean you could brainstorm and say that if you had a notepad you could make your own map. (You just add to your notepad every time you find a location and it kind draws its own map) but yeah... I just want a simple fix.
  16. Dreygar (DayZ)

Suggestions to make it even more FUN

I agree with the Op and so do many others, and this type of game play is what the Developer is trying to accomplish. There is nothing hard about Zombies, but only annoying when they run at you and spin their arms 80mph. Rocket said he's a designer, and not an animations expert so we can expect some better things out of the Zombies in the Standalone. The only properly acting zombies are when you get them in buildings and they actually act like Zombies. Zombies, from what I understand, was just something to draw in the crowd. The real element of this game is its survival elements. So barricading yourself, etc... has already been "tested" with what construction elements that are in the game and we should expect some real constructing tools in the future. As far as weapons breaking down, I fully agree. I think there should be modular weapon systems. From finding upper and lower recievers to barrels, optics, stocks, etc. You could find these parts over time and construct the weapon or you can have something break on your weapon and use a part you found to fix it. It also enables you to turn your M4A1 from a 300m effective range to 500m effective range with the addition of a longer barrel, etc. Again, have some vision and think outside the box. This is a sandbox game that should be endless in possibilities, but you seem content with what it haves already. I feel sorry for you.

    New Map Idea

As I've stated before, I do not want multiple maps. I like the idea of one singular huge persistant world. Whether that be "Chenarus +" or whatever the Standalone comes with. I just want it to be full of depth and community building tools. I'd rather the Dev's not waste time nor resources creating additional maps. Though it's hard to say if the SA will be locked-down content or available to be modded by the community as that invites/makes it easier for hackers which has thus far ruined the game for many people.

    Farming.

There are already tons of pastures and farm areas to accomodate this idea. I like the idea of players being able to take over a portion of the map, defending from zombies and players alike as well as fortifying it... but... doesn't look like that idea is obtainable as construction above ground appears to be "too difficult/reduces performance"

    DayZGame vs DayZMod

Not to attack your comment but I feel a lot of gamers have a really short attention span. I have never switched to another map as of yet, and I do enjoy the feel of Chernarus. Though the pressure to have more and more maps I feel is not needed, but instead more content. Chernarus might be coming with more enterable buildings, more cities throughout, and overall larger. Add to that the ability to make your own underground bases (apparently above ground is too difficult/affects performance), and a remodeling of the zombies, UI, and hopefully the weapons (please make them modular), and that should be a good starting point for us.

    DayZGame vs DayZMod

The intention of the thread was not to compare gameplay, but to compare development more or less. How WarZ took their parent game and turned it into its own game and expanded upon it. As mentioned in my original post I do not have any interest in WarZ. Though one thing sticks out to me... -Ridiculous drum mags, laser sights and scopes for the array of airsoft guns Wouldn't you want to make customizations to your weapon? It is entirely realistic to find a 100rnd Drum for your AR-15 Platform weapon, or a flashlight, or a supressor, or different sights, and the list goes on and on. I want as many OPTIONS as we can get. What is entirely unrealistic is having two MP5s in the game that take two different magazines and one is silenced and one is not.

    DayZGame vs DayZMod

Alright. So I watched the Rocket Q & A and it did answer a lot of my concerns. The goal of DayZ development is to create the structure and tools of the game and leave it to the players to decide how they want to use those tools. So I think the majority of wishes we want in the game will eventually be added as long as they add to the immersion of the game. Ill probably buy it upon release but there is one important question. Is this a game that will have constantly released content that we have to buy? I dont like people buying their way through games and I keep seeing it talk about the "minecraft model" which im not sure what that means.
  22. Dreygar (DayZ)

Dont remove Ghillie suits, Make them Burn! ;)

Is Farcry 2 a huge persistant world with 40 players? I'm all for as much stuff that can be crammed into this game and run smoothly, but I just don't think technology is capable of that.
  23. I vote no hud that tells you ammo, and unless it's a pistol or a clear magazine there is no indicators (aside from weight) that tells you how many bullets remain even with a visual inspection. Unless only a few bullets remain and you can see the follower. So I say no to this idea.
  24. Dreygar (DayZ)

Skin change/morph animations must be delayed

I vote no skin change, no humanity... players should be able to customize their look from individual items they find around the map.
  25. Dreygar (DayZ)

    Farming.

I like the idea. If you put ideas like this in the game, I think people would love them. To go with having bases and making structures it just lets you immerse yourself and busy yourself with something other than travelling 5km to go loot some place, and then shoot someone. I really wish people would stop being close minded, use some creativity, and want better from this game because it has the potential to be so much more than a zombie survival deathmatch.
