  1. It is not a moot point. You are being forced to wear that turban. Did you put the turban on? Can you take the turban off? Here is one thing to take away from the Rocket suggestions. Firstly, the bandit thing is an experiment that must flow with the design of the game and not be forced on a player. I don't think people really understand a key element in one of his suggestions. The bloody hands one. He says you would get bloody hands if you looted that person, and it might last for roughly an hour... So... don't loot them? You've been killed on sight many times, so you're angry about it and you come on the forums. Fact, any indicator you have is a bandaid. It's not going to stop anything. The only thing that will stop KoS is making players choose whether they want to be PVP or not.
  2. So this presents another problem. You spawn near cherno, loot the hot spots... and get shot by a sniper. You spawn near cherno again, no loot to be had... So you attempt to go back to your body to loot your old gear, shot again...
  3. If I find someone's hidden vehicle I tend to loot what I like, and then blow up the car... :)

    1,300,000 players

I think the standalone will be equally as popular. I'm sure there are some who tried and realized it wasn't their cup of tea, but for the most part it is a relatively small cost and invites people to "try it out" because of that.
  5. I guess that makes me a troll and a retard because I actually provided a valid argument where you just talk out your ass.

    Standalone Poll: First Person Only?

First person has its faults, third person has its faults. Forcing the game to first person only is just a bad idea, again... if this was a First Person Shooter, sure. That isn't what this game is, it's an MMO with FPS aspects. No one is stopping you from playing in 1st person servers. Your problem isn't about YOUR experience, you just made that obvious. There is nothing stopping you from "wanting to be the character", as first person is an option in any server setting. You want to force your experience on everyone, and that is the issue. Maybe you're unaware you can switch between first and third person. Hit enter on the keypad.
  7. Start the video at 19 minutes, and listen carefully... here i'll paraphrase. "If bandits are causing an issue and people killing new players on spawn... well, then you guys have to do something about it and form vigiliantes."

    Thermal scopes.

You realize bullet drop is a property of ballistics, right? I'm sorry Dallas, but how does that disprove ANYTHING I've said? He attempted to shoot a 300m target with 600m zeroing... Failed. He then switched the zeroing to 300m, and shot a 300m target.. and hit his target... Um... Duh? Are you just stupid? Do you have any experience behind a firearm?
  10. Did you watch the video? I know it's about 38* minutes long and might be beyond your attention span.

    Wilderness Survival Aspects

I like this idea on steroids. I'm really disappointed at the no above ground construction (As of right now, maybe forever) As it would be really nice to carve your own settlement out in one of the large empty areas of the map. I am all for schematics to be found throughout the game, which can be bartered/stolen and are bound to that person upon use, till death. It would really make people value their characters a little more if they had the knowledge to build so many things; would also make them valuable assets; as well as targets. The possibilities truly are endless, but I am not sure if technology can keep up. (Even though for the most part it was done 9 years ago) As for growing crops, this has been touched on (well... all this has really) but everything about games are give and take. Might not be realistic, but crops could mature 2-3 days to a week. It's not instant, but it's not a 3 month+ process either. Just like you aren't going to physically hammer each nail to make your tree stand. It would be all about resource gathering, maybe a couple hour timer on building structures.

    Smooth here

I say you only get a bandage and a flashlight. You don't even spawn with a backpack.

    Standalone Poll: First Person Only?

I already addressed this. Go on DayZ Commander and disabled third person in the filters, see how many hits you get. I got about 20 servers, probably 17 of them empty or near empty. Only one had around 19 people in it. 20 out of 4000+ servers are playing with 3D:Off. So their suggestion is for Day Z to "grow balls" and make it a first person only game so that everyone has to play it the way that they want it played because they think it adds to the realism. Here's a suggestion, why don't the five of you who like 1st person go populate one of those 1st person only lobbies and have a gay ole time.
  14. How many times were you KoS? This is what I'm going to ask from now on, cause it's very apparent you're all bitching like little school girls. You bitch about not being able to identify bad guys, you bitch about spawning on the shore, you bitch to bitch... When is it going to stop? I don't need this game, I want this game to be a hardcore survival, if it turns out to be mainstream garbage that caters to little bitches I won't play it. I want customization, I want the world to be a sandbox with the players to do whatever their free will desires. Guess what? If skins are included, that means player customization is not included. Hooray for all walking around looking like little dipshit cloned survivors. No matter what you do or think up... Someone is always going to spawn in, grab the first weapon they see... and attempt to/kill the first person they see. Turning you into an alien won't even change that.
  15. I think Rocket spoiled you guys with his little bandit/hero skin experiment, because now you guys can't let them go. As mentioned, from everything I have read/seen by Rocket he wants to make a hardcore game. Things that dumb down the game to make it more accessible (again something he has mentioned he's against) only take away from the vision of the game. I'm sure if he put in an option to turn off permadeath, and then took it away... we'd have another thread of people "please keep it as an option", Just like he said he's removing the indicators for food and such, replaced with more visual cues and sounds like a gurgling stomach... I'll be waiting for the threads about "Please bring back the indicators!" ... Do you see the trend here or is it just me? What attracted you to this game? Ask yourself that. Was it the hardcore survival aspects or just the Zombies?
  16. This is turning into CSI Day Z. I would like to see dead bodies being riddled with bullets, missing limbs, etc. I just don't think that is going to happen with this game. I never said I disagreed with the "Study Body> Person appears to have died from a bullet wound/laceration/etc." I still don't know how that will benefit in any way to the game however. I think you guys just have a sour taste in your mouth from being killed so many times. I've run into lots of people and survived without anyone being shot. You are only encouraging a team deathmatch environment when you segregate. I think what is always overlooked is the lack of things to do in the game in its current stage. People have looted all over the map, people have flown/driven every vehicle. Shot/collected every weapon. Killed hundreds of zombies. It's leaving them only one thing left to do. The mentality is rubbing off on new people, who join and think that is the purpose of the game. They either get frustrated or join in. As far as "contributing" to the thread, I think holding my stand beside the Op in agreeing no skins is my contribution. I'm sorry, maybe you should make the thread "Why bandit skins are needed? "

    Standalone and Helicopters.

Let me point out one thing about my demo experience. There was just something. "off" about it. I would go into free flight (it starts you off in the air already) as soon as the game opens up the helicopter makes a bee line for the right, like it has a mind of its own. So it's not like I adjusted the collective in any way. Any attempt to use the pedals failed to respond. It didn't matter if I was in expert or trainee. I do know that it started in trainee and I was flying much like I fly in DayZ, so I decided to try expert and that is when the game just stopped to work correctly, even when I switched back to trainee thinking maybe it was just an expertise issue it was still flying like that. So might be something with the demo itself. My major gripe is the lack of throttle, it replaces throttle and uses the collective to compensate for both throttle/angle of attack.
  18. You're only trying to defend your need to have some visual indicator that someone is bad. Sorry, no sympathy.
  19. What are you not getting? I don't think there should be any indicators. Stop whining.
  20. There is no difference if it's current times or post apocalyptic future. There is no reason to highlight "humanity". I'm a good person, I don't run around killing people. Who knows, my neighbor might be luring little boys into his house to molest? He doesn't look any different on the outside, same as you and me... I think people want that Gomer Pyle (Full Metal Jacket) or Shane Walsh (Walking dead) "I've gone crazy" mentality to be visible... Where that is just hollywood adding drama to the story.
  21. So now you're a crime scene detective? Do you know what a 5.56 projectile looks like? I bet many don't, nor what it looks like when it hits a target. Sorry... my answer to all this is... nothing. There are no signs of humanity. Humanity is lost, survivors remain. Stop whining that you got shot just because someone wanted to shoot you. Just so you know, and I have seen it tossed around. "You think that way because you must be a bandit." No, I am not a bandit. Though I don't see how this brings anything to the game other than.. "Oh, you're wearing that skin, or you've got flies hovering over your head, or you've got blood on your hands so you must be a bad person. Bang bang."
  22. What is working about the system? You don't think the first introduction of bandit skins, where if obtained gave you a better advantage (camo) wasn't incentive to kill? Oh... then people realized how fun it was to kill one another so they kept doing it and now it is an uncontrolled downward spiral? You don't think the lack of things to do in the game enabled people to resort to killing one another? You don't think some newbie just wants to get his first weapon and run around killing anything they see? This is a game, you cannot predict what someone is going to do; just like in the game you shouldn't be able to predict what the person is going to do. THAT is what brings the intense moments. Skins/indicators are not a solution to this, because there is no solution. People are going to do what they want in their sandbox, and having humanity is just silly.
  23. What do you want it to say? This person appears to have been shot. This person appears to be stabbed. That? Or do you want to know. This person has been shot with an M14? I mean... seriously. You, and the many others just want a dumbed down version of the game to make it easier. You're essentially whining that you get killed a lot, and you want to distinguish who is bad/good. That shouldn't be the direction of the game, and everything i've read/heard from Rocket seems that is not his intent as well. The idea is to make a game where players make the choices.
  24. You do realize the bandit skin is not sticking around, neither are the food/water/etc indicators?
