Standalone could slip to 2013
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, I read the latest update per Rocket. As mentioned it could be a little "unconventional approach" ... but I still don't see a December 2012 release date. You don't add "unfinished" screen shots months ago to show off the progress of the game and then don't follow that up with anything prior to launch. I could be wrong but I doubt it. -
Is there going to be an Xbox version of the standalone?

We get it, you're a PC Fanboy. -
DayZ needs a sound improvement immediately
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to wolffe's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
At a distance a 5.56 round does infact sound like popcorn. Though I agree some of the weapon sounds are horrible (AS50, completely unrealistic) but... I think the ground movement, car sounds, etc... need a much bigger improvement. Ground movement is incredibly loud and doesn't make any sense. In walk mode, crouched down the guy sounds like he's stomping around. -
Is there going to be an Xbox version of the standalone?
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to A.Williams's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well, this is true but in the same breath the previously mentioned games have a large area of unloadable gameplay too. Only when you enter towns does the games load. Also, if you store items in a random box those items will stay there no matter what, etc. Not to mention the graphics and complexity of the games are far superior to Arma 2... -

I'm not sure about that. I think the 360 could handle it, it's just a matter of how many players could it handle at one time. There are some massive games on the Xbox. Skyrim, Fallout, etc. Though only single players. -
Killed By Hacker - Lost Best Kit Possible
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to Smax's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hackers are a part of this game in a major way, the only way to really avoid it is to join really low population (boring) servers or ones that have active admins. (Usually private hives with active admins the admins themselves are worse than hackers though). You should have found you a nice place to plant that tent and store some of your valuables. Though to be honest with the lack of content in this game the only entertainment factor is engaging others players. -
Standalone could slip to 2013
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the majority of people are anxious for the SA because of all the problems with the mod, and what the SA has promised to improve on. Myself included. I still play the mod but not as much and it is incredibly boring most of the time. Usually just pop on with friends and mess around. I know I'll be disappointed if it doesn't release in December, but I don't think it will anyway so that lessens the disappointment. There is no other game like this, so we have no choice but to wait either way. -

It has been suggested and I welcome the idea. -
Standalone could slip to 2013
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Considering the quality of games released in this past decade they are all flawed, so I don't expect Day Z SA to be any different. Rocket has said the game will be a work in progress for a year or more after release. Adding new features, ironing out features, etc. I am not suggesting it will be in Beta/Alpha/Anything. I am just suggesting that a "completed" project might be in 15 months. I am not trying to turn away anybody I am just giving my opinion and based on the gaming world it seems fitting for my opinion. The game will be incredibly unstable upon launch, that is my opinion. Just from past game experiences and this one may be totally different and I welcome that, but I'm just being real. And just to clarify by unstable... there will probably be tons of exploits, tons of glitches, connectivity issues, etc. -

Dreygar (DayZ) replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Good luck. The game has already been established that it will release as a non-finished product. They will update the game. So, you'll have probably a really unstable product that will undergo frequent changes. This enables them to create a source of income while working on the game at the same time. If you wanted a complete and hopefully polished/unbuggy game come back in probably 15 months. -
I agree the loot should have a more genuine feel other than objects laying on the ground. I'd like to see the shelves in the grocery store actually stocked with things and objects within bookcases, dressers, on tables, etc...

Standalone could slip to 2013
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Don't expect a 2012 release. Just not enough actual game data supplied to suggest that the game is anywhere near close to release. Sure, they could be doing it a bit unconventional and just release it without adding some gameplay videos, actual screen shots, trailers, etc... but I just don't see it happening. -
People like this simply have no vision for a game, and want the same basic cookie cutter crap over and over again. This game will need some innovative and creative ideas to stay afloat long-term. It is an MMO, meaning you won't see a Day Z II, or III, etc for a very long time but it is the basic platform for the game (expansions may come later, depending on popularity). With that being said why wouldn't you want as much things to do in this game as possible? Looting, killing zombies/players, dying... Gets pretty boring fast. Add in some base building, crafting, meaningless things (card games suggested, etc), as well as things like fishing/farming and you are really building an immersive game that is beyond the FPS people seem to think it's all about. An apocalyptic free-roam, persistant MMO world where the players drive the community, economy, etc has been something that has been wanted for a very long time within the community. This is as-close as it is. Another thing, Zombies are a small part of this game and not the main focus as some people would think. It's just a little sugar on top. This game is a HORRIBLE zombie game, period. DayZ Zombies suck (and I am sure will suck even more in SA if they make them run indoors/etc.) It is a much better survival game, but I do like the addition of the zombies as it brings in that "enemy/creature" NPC aspect of the game. Would also like to see some animals in the wild that can be of a threat. Mountain lions, cougars, snakes, etc.

"Zombie Logging" What's your take?
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to -Guardian-'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I had one instance where I alerted a single zombie, but even after an entire magazine emptied in him from my G17 he was either gliched or invincible. He broke my legs and knocked me unconscious and by now there were about 2 snacking on their manwich. When I got up, I just logged out. -
Namalsk doesn't even come close to Chernarus in my opinion. So it has snow, and you have to keep warm more.. and it has more crash sites basically in the form of tanks and such with zombies around them. I still like the layout and feel of Chernarus. To each their own.

Servers lacking people, where's vanilla?
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to jamieledgeway@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm all for vanilla as well, but I can see where that gets boring. I frequently take breaks from Day Z (Like now, hence why I'm playing a more active role on the forums) but there are people who change things up and keep playing instead of taking breaks. I quoted something because I do think you're giving yourself false hope. I don't think the standalone will change much of anything. Initially it might force players to play on the vanilla map, but I still think it'll enable options to be turned off/on so players can play what they want to play. Then at some point I can see them opening the game for players to mod. -
Why the skin system is fine...for now
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to FLMedic Doc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes Brew, there are more instances in real life that people do not kill one another. Is that what you want to hear? No one is disputing that. Point is you could have a serial killer in the same room as everyone else and you wouldn't know the difference. -
DayZ Standalone Information Video
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to zippo124's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Man! I messed that up. Haha. I didn't mean "Daisy." I meant why does he pronounce it "Daze." Like he's Just trying to say DayZ how it looks instead of "Day Z" -
If the bandit skins are still in the standalone I'm going to be pissed.
Dreygar (DayZ) replied to electroban's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Bandit skins are only an experiment. I guess we'll find out in the SA where he stands. Don't worry though, the KoS will die down when there is more things to do in the game. It will then pick back up again when people get bored again. -

Dreygar (DayZ) replied to electroban's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I just think people try to make the game out to be more than it really is. Only Rocket knows for sure, but some of the things he has said in his interviews suggests that he doesn't care if there are people pointlessly killing players. I completely agree. -

Dreygar (DayZ) replied to electroban's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You guys really are just chasing your tails because I hear a lot about "sniping" ... Well, if the bandit is sniping you. You won't be able to see their skin anyway because you obviously didn't see where their location was. Most of the KoS in CQB I imagine are survivor on survivor, so they have the same friendly skin as you anyway. -

Dreygar (DayZ) replied to electroban's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This game is not a simulator for human reasoning. It is a realistic survival simulator making you eat food or you'll starve, drink or you'll die of thirst, scavenge and otherwise just survive. I love the idea of having to go on someones word that they are friendly, rather than judging them by their skin. -

Dreygar (DayZ) replied to electroban's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As far as in game communication... maybe I have a group of IRL friends and we want to play the game and don't really care to group up with you? Maybe we have a buddy in our group who needs your alice pack and we don't think we're going to get it from you peacefully/and or risk getting one of our teammates shot while we demand you put it on the ground and walk away with your life? -

Nope, just saying everyone should be on equal playing field. You're just whining about being shot by bandits. -

Dreygar (DayZ) replied to electroban's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I love this part. The game is supposed to be chaotic. All you have to do is look on the beginning page of this site and look at the video DayZ portrays itself as. People not trusting and killing one another. Wow! Exactly what is being done in the game... Are you having trouble finding people to play with, is that it? You know this forum can be used for other things than whining, go make some friends and play the game.
