Suggestion for buildings in the SA.

Except those items would then be radioactive as well.
  2. Considering top of the line graphics cards cost a grand themselves... People can hate on consoles all they want, but they create an equal playing platform for everyone and not going to see "hackers" or altered game files, etc like you do in PC games. I'm sure it is possible in Consoles as it's only technology, but not as much/easily. Plant a DayZ type game on Xbox live and it will outsell PC sales IMO.

    Standalone could slip to 2013

    Wasn't related to Arma.

Body Armor, Vehicle Armor, base building and camo scent?

There are so many different types and styles of body armor. When someone is conditioned in wearing armor then it is much easier to move about and for extended periods of time compared to someone who has never used it. Kevlar inserts do not weigh much at all and is generally what Police officers wear while on duty. Designed for pistol rounds and also have stab plates sometimes. They can stop rifle rounds as well depending on the speed the projectile is travelling, angle, etc... They won't slow you down at all. Military vests are much of the same, they use the kevlar inserts but add ceramic plates to the front and back to protect against 7.62 and below ammunition. Usually bulky and heavy but can be fit comfortably to the point where you are actually pretty comfortable inside them. There are also, as mentioned plate carriers. Which is a simple vest that just carries the 7.62 rated plates and are much lighter. They are heavier so that will affect your speed and nimbleness but without a backpack you could move around pretty easily/fast still. Though they do trap a lot of heat and can cause chafing/discomfort over long periods of time. Add a backpack and depending on the weight that can really disrupt the weight distribution and slow things down. Realistically there isn't any trade off as far as inventory, primarily because you can still wear a backpack and you can use the MOLLE webbing to attach pouches to the front of the vest...

Drop Backpack ->"Save Backpack" Stash Idea

That's cool if you play that way, just seems a little silly. I mean, it all depends on how you play but unless I am trying to gather the things I need and create a little safe haven for myself with some extra stuff I don't really see the point in the game. Other than arming myself and PvP, die, wash, rinse, repeat.

Drop Backpack ->"Save Backpack" Stash Idea

So you play the game as if you're in some story mode?

    No new loot respawn.

Well, my vision was to have items be scattered about realistically. The amount of resources would be almost infinite seeming in the beginning. It relies heavily (and something I think this game will need in order to really thrive) is a in depth crafting system. Ammunition that can be reloaded. Resources gathered like metal for casting bullets, primers, casings recollected after fired, powders found throughout the game and various reloading equipment. Farming, which others have suggested would be an alternate food source to go along with hunting animals. Make-shift weaponry as well as enhancing weapons. It would be the ultimate survival game.
  8. Impossible. PC Components are always changing, consoles are designed to stay the same through their life span. Only way you'd ever beat out a console is if you designed some GPUs and CPUs yourself that outperforms anything on the market now and well into the future, and make those components exclusive to your machine.

Drop Backpack ->"Save Backpack" Stash Idea

I honestly like the ability of having multiple backpacks. Say for instance a person is carrying a backpack but also found a duffle bag. The duffle bag has to be hand carried and can be dropped/left some place so that they can free up their hands. Duffle bags can carry larger objects and more objects, but slow you down and can't use one of your hands.

No. I was saying that PC games have plenty of run and gun games and they are not limited to consoles. Most shooter games now are fast paced arcadey shooters. Whether PC or console. The games of tactical shooters (Rainbow Six) have been long gone.

Change use of .50 cal Sniper Rifles

.50 Caliber Sniper weapons can be fired from kneeling and standing, but not with any good accuracy. I honestly hate games that sway the sights when you're trying to aim, especially when you're in a supported firing position. Also, M249 and M240B weight as much and more than a .50 and can be carried a long while. Soldiers do it every day, and a .50 Caliber Sniper rifle can be operated by one individual.

    No new loot respawn.

I'm thinking more towards SA and not the current game setup. Initially the server would have an abundance of loot (as suggested in the first post) that would gradually dwindle depending on use. As far as the tents and vehicles they would be reworked as well. A small tent like in the game wouldn't be able to hold as much stuff. Vehicles, depending on size will have a certain amount of items it can hold as well. I am not seeing how anyone can actually hoarde everything on the map, especially when some of the items in the map can be recycled/crafted for some other purpose.

    No new loot respawn.

Also I think the time required to eat/drink would have to be more realistic. You shouldn't have to eat and drink every 20 minutes. Eating should sustain your energy, more energy you use the more food you need to eat. Same with thirst. Even still you'd only have to eat every few hours, and drink 1-1/2 quarts of water an hour ("Water bottles" in game are 1qt Canteens.)

    Hunger Games

So you basically want someone to play for 18 hours in a 24 hour period? Interesting...
  15. Dreygar (DayZ)

    No new loot respawn.

Well, again unlike the current game you probably won't be able to consume all the food/drink in the supermarket in the SA in one sitting, nor will you be able to fit it all in your inventory. Let alone trying to sit in one spot for all that time trying to consume it without encountering someone else. People enjoy playing on maps like namalsk that already have really scarce supplies, and so do some of the other maps. So I really don't see how running out of canned food and drink in the super market is going to halt game play. It would add quite a bit of realism. It's a little hardcore for most to consider I guess.

What the hell is going on with hackers?

Private hives can be equally as bad as hackers. Since the Admins are just hacking in gear/vehicles for themselves anyways and running around killing players because they know their locations. Plus people find it fun to start off with weapons, maps, big backpacks, etc... I don't get it.

    No new loot respawn.

Trash could be quite valuable if it is included in crafting. But I doubt with an active server you will get much hoarding and there would be a rather abundance of things. Though like I said, just a realistic approach towards loot. You could enter a police station and find 12 shotguns in their rack, you obviously can't hold that many so there will be more for another person. A player dies, their gear remains on their person. If it is not looted in X amount of time all that gear gets cycled back into the game. Like I said it would make things more valuable and make trading more important, would also make things like gathering resources and crafting vital. It would probably be frustrating to players because they can't just run around in 5 minutes and have a completely loaded up kit like they can in the current game, but I don't think it should be that easy.
  18. Dreygar (DayZ)

    No new loot respawn.

Also, the game doesn't have to have ALL the items loaded in at the same time. It could be the same as the current setup where loot spawns when players are near. The only difference is the game remembers what loot spawns/where. Small scale. Player 1 goes into a barn and takes the hatchet that was hanging on the wall. Didn't see shotgun behind hay stack. Leaves the area. All items disappear. Player 2 goes into same barn. Finds a shotgun that Player 1 overlooked, but the hatchet is no longer there because Player 1 took it. Leaves behind his small caliber rifle with no ammo. Player 3 goes into the same barn. Picks up the small caliber rifle with no ammo, nothing else there. It's just an idea of course, but I think it would really benefit in this type of game.
  19. Dreygar (DayZ)

    No new loot respawn.

Just wishful thinking, but as far as the run out of everything and die... I don't think so. Still would have water sources and animals roaming about. Ammo could be reloaded (reloading press + materials) This also coincides with a very indepth crafting system. Games like Fallout made me think of this idea, so it is completely possible I think.
  20. Day Z SA is going to be pretty identical to Arma 2. Pretty sure the Xbox 360 can run Arma 2.
  21. Maybe it's because I've never had a top-of-the-line PC Gaming Rig, but I think for the most part Console games and PC games are generally on par with one another graphically. Graphics, I don't think is the major issue. The ability to process all the new features is what is the major issue.

    Standalone could slip to 2013

Consoles are limited to spray and pray games? Oh... so the games like Quake where you're bouncing around the screen and shooting off stupid guns is so much better? Lets get real.
  23. The great thing about consoles in my opinion is everyone is using the same hardware. There are no advantages (other than if you have a shitty DSL connection or something compared to someone with a better one). Also there is limited control changes, which I think also brings it down to a equal playing field and puts more reliance on the players skill rather than their equipment. I am not a PC fan at all for gaming, but I understand that some games Consoles just haven't delved into some markets. Such as MMOs, whether they are capable or not they haven't really tried. Then you have your PC fans who think m&kb are so much better than a controller... And use cross-platform experiments (I don't know too much about that and how it was done) but to be honest if your PC is better than the Console game then you are probably running a better frame rate, better latency, and have your controls set up to do 360 degree turns at 500mph... So I don't think it was ever a apples to apples comparison. Have a console and PC at the same specs and I have no doubt I could outperform a kb&m player via a controller.

    Dayz custom faces?

I think Custom faces are cool. Always enjoyed games that allow you to map your own face to your character. (Rainbow Six Vegas) to allow you to play more as yourself. I'm sure that is not what the op is talking about but either way I like the freedom of customization.

Why has the "debug" monitor made a return in 1.7.4.4?

Thanks for the tips, I'll try them out. I didn't know it was a server add-on though because it seems the servers I jump in have the same menu so I was under the impression it was back in the game.
