    Full Clothing thread - Compilation

I have no issue with these and we all know that Day Z is implementing individual clothing pieces, just not sure to what extent. I would like to see everything have their own properties. Obvious things like color choices. You don't want to be running around in a bright yellow t-shirt unless of course that is what you want to do. Different styles of footwear should offer things like increased stamina or better traction in the wet/snow environments, etc. I think this area has been touched on several times so I won't go in any further detail... but all in all I like it. Common sense things, a pair of cargo pants should offer you more useable pockets(inventory space)... A new t-shirt shouldn't offer anything other than its clothing properties. A ballistic vest, unless it has pouches should only offer its ballistic resistance properties and also increased body temperature (which can be bad in warm areas). Just waiting anxiously to see what the creative minds on the Dev team decide to do with all this.

    DayZ PC vs Console

You are 100% correct. I am no expert on hacking, with no desire to hack. As a console player I have experienced 0 hacks. As a PC player I have experienced countless hacks. To me, the term hacking is more than just doing what a game allows you to do. It is about manipulating the system into doing something it isn't supposed to do. So "scripting" isn't exactly a hack, if the game is designed to do that? No? I could be wrong, please enlighten me with your greatness. I'll be amazed if the standalone has 0 hacks, but even Rocket said himself and as you pointed out its impossible. As far as consoles, and possibly because my experience in not dealing with a hacker is because it's a relatively closed OS compared to a PC OS. I would be interested in knowing how many people who "hack" their Xbox are actually playing games on XBL using those hacks.
  3. It's already confirmed that your outfit will consist of multiple items. Headgear, shirts, pants, boots, jackets, vests, etc. Skins won't be making a return is my guess.

    Sniping needs to be balanced

I'm not exactly sure how I should word this to make sense, this is true but what I was referring to is the combination of the bipod + a proper position in prone essentially traps the bipod in place, the recoil on the weapon isn't strong enough to then blow your body back. Having fired an M107 a few times in my military career, never having issues. No amount of training can train stupid. Put your nose on the charging handle but don't have the rifle properly in your shoulder... and bam.

    Sniping needs to be balanced

Being "scope bit" happens to morons. I've seen it happen with stupid people shooting M16s even with the carrying handle smacking them in the face. It's because improper technique. Wouldn't like this feature to happen in a game.

    DayZ PC vs Console

Couldn't find anything about those programs when used on XBL, other than being banned from XBL. Kind of solidifies my point? The point I made about never experiencing things like that on consoles is because it is almost certain you will experience it when playing a PC game.

    Remove Death Messages

Agreed and has been suggested already, but doesn't hurt.

    Sniping needs to be balanced

I think he's speaking in terms of range. A sniper in Arma really isn't going to care that you're putting down supressive fire and will probably take you out... Where as taking precise aim shots at the sniper will cause a better reaction.

    Sniping needs to be balanced

You can't post a video of a moron shooting a .50 caliber sniper rifle and think that is how recoil works. He is firing from an unsupported prone position, for one. M107 uses a Bipod which pretty much eliminates all recoil when fired from prone. Secondly he's a wimp.

Namalsk is a horrible map, and that is my opinion. Rocket has a vision for the game, and he does not want to sacrifice that vision to cater to anyone; that is the beauty of this indie-type development compared to big game developers who just care about profit. Day Z became popular because of its diversity and difficulty in its approach, so obviously that has some meaning. It might not be an 11 million subscriber like WoW, but who cares. An M107 has purpose in the game, it is a great anti-vehicle weapon and can be used against personnel.
  12. Threads like this and the others pop up every day. I'd graveyard all that shit. lol. You're a better man than me I guess.
  13. Also, I guess I didn't understand what you meant at first... but now I have a better understanding (I think) I am even more urged to say no. That is the most pointless data ever. Jo-schmo looked at me with an M16. Billy J looked at me with a hatchet. Who cares? If you didn't see a player, then that is your fault. You shouldn't be awarded with any data?
  14. Are you serious? Out-playing someone, not what you're supposed to do? There is NO mission to this game, it is entirely up to the player on what they want to do. If a player wants to run around playing doctor, they can. If a player wants around playing body guard, they can. If a player wants to run around playing sniper in the bell tower, they can. That is what the game is about, it's what you as the player want to do. Only way to remove "mindless deathmatching" is to remove PVP altogether, which just won't happen.
  15. Can we please stop making threads about ... I got KoS, I got sniped, I have the best suggestion to eliminate deathmatching, please give me indicators that tells me every aspect of the game, please give me kill cams... Seriously, it's a never ending whine fest around here. The game has a pretty basic construction in that everyone in the game is in control of their fate, their actions, etc. That is what makes it awesome. Realize this, or realize that this game may not be for you.
  16. I always like to point out stuff the creator of the game has said... tough shit, more or less.

    Sniping needs to be balanced

People never cease to amaze me. They think the solution to everything is to remove features or tweak them to their liking. I think choosing between a backpack and an M107 is pretty retarded, as realistically you can have both, so I am glad you can in the game. You're right though that some choices are a no brainer, but in terms of using an M24 over an M107 currently the M107 wins. Though if the sounds of the M107 were fixed then there would be some pretty distinct differences, that being sound signature. Which brings up another thing. Sounds in the game need to be fixed, along with Zombies awareness. (Not making them faster/hit harder as some would suggest) If you're on a rooftop, shooting your dinnerbell.. Zombies shouldn't climb ladders but they should advance to your location via the sound. At that point they should pick up on your SCENT... and never leave the location. You might have a hoarde of zombies. So great, you just trapped yourself with no way out. THAT, is how it should be treated. Same with a sniper in the hills, zombies should investigate the sound... causing the sniper to move... If they are within scent... they will investigate that... Snipers will never be able to sit in one location.

    Sniping needs to be balanced

Not to sound cliche but if you think this game is about balancing and leveling the playing field.. then I feel you are playing the wrong game.
  19. Left 4 Dead, is in my opinion an awful game. Dead Island, is much better... Though both are fast-paced Arcadey games. Day Z, in my opinion would fare better with The Walking Dead, slower zombies. Awareness needs to play a larger role on smell, as well as hearing and vision. This has been discussed over and over again however and the only thing I can say to the people who want harder, faster zombies... To actual envision them in the game. Take how Zombies slow down into more traditional Zombies while indoors, remove that feature and have them burst in after you. Is it harder? Yes, does it make it better? Not for me. Or have an "oopsie" and get a hoarde of zombies after you out in the open. Try to engage 12 zombies with just a hatchet. The primary focus of this game, despite some would think, is not about the Zombies. They are just a PvE element in the overall scheme of things.

New Dev Blog Report: November 2012

This is a popular misconception of the game. The primary focus of this game is not about zombies, but it is just an element / setting of the game... The primary focus of this game is about the survival aspect. Rocket has already stated that as far as Zombies he just wants to get them "acting" right, and then return his focus back to the survival aspects of the game. There are interviews, just google Rocket Q&A interview and you can see for yourself. Not saying you won't see some of the things you suggested, which have been suggested by multiple threads. I just wanted to touch on the fact that the main focus of this game is not the Zombies, it's just people see "zombies" and think that's all it's about.

    Sniping needs to be balanced

I'm not going to bash but to nerf snipers is rather ridiculous. A sniper weapon is designed to reach out and touch someone from afar, and is a very important element in this game. What the above posted said. I would like to see you actually having to zero the weapon though. Meaning a weapon might be out of zero or battle zeroed. You would also have to be in a steady firing position and control your breathing using the natural respitory pause many are "trained" to use when firing a well aimed shot instead of just... shoot, shoot, shoot as fast as you can click the mouse. Weapon modularity has already been confirmed. Hopefully we will be seeing a large variety of optics. Some more rare than others. I agree if a certain scope is fixed zoom then it should remain that way, though if the scope has a variable zoom then it should also be capable of that as well. Again multiple optics with their own unique properties. Minus the "cool" factor, it would be nice to see an assortment in ammunition availability.

    Dont get too carried away

I voice my opinion whether good or bad about the game as most come to realize. Though I don't have very high expectations for the SA release as mentioned in other threads. I do think it will be an improvement over the mod, but essentially the same game play. It might have better zombie AI, more enterable buildings but like any game these days there will inevitably be new glitches and exploits. Those are my realistic and personal expectations and I will even wait some time to see some youtube videos and find out if the new game even appeals to me before I purchase it. Edit: Things like modular clothing and weapons has already been confirmed, and moving towards an actual MMO Architecture is exciting but it will be interesting to see how those things are implemented.
  23. Point is you essentially want a kill cam. Or an ability to see where your assailant was/is. The game is merciless in when you are dead.. Your dead. You don't get a replay of your death, or any indication of how you died. Cept those stupid servers that broadcast what you were killed by.

Give players the tools and ability to occupy houses.

This is yet another example of what the mod limitations have done to how people perceive the game. There are a lot of people who prefer the community server ran stuff, which is something I'm not for. Letting the community run the servers is definitely the easy way to go, but would much rather get a more genuine experience of game run servers that create something like I mentioned above. There is no point in having a public hive unless everything transitions from server to server. Your tent, your vehicle, your whatever. Which means creating one massive world that everyone can connect to. If groups are large enough to control a section of the map, then so be it and kudos to them. Just means another group will have to form to combat or ally with them. Like I said it creates a more genuine experience.

Give players the tools and ability to occupy houses.

Considering they are going with an MMO Architect, it is possible that all servers and server properties will be linked. Meaning your base on X server will also be on Y server. This is just a possibility and who knows it may be just server dependent like it is now, but I'd much rather see it the other way around. MMOs aren't as large as some would think. They usually have multiple "worlds" a player joins upon creation of a Character. Those worlds are not linked in anyway shape or form but basically control population. World 1 might be at its limit so you are forced to join World 2. How this could work with Day Z is connecting each of the servers to a given world. An individual "server" might only hold 50 people, but 3 servers link together to form a 150 person "world" ... if you can understand where I am coming from.
