    He's right finding matches is a bitch yesterday i was searching for at least 6 hours On Saturday I literally looted every single apartment, church, and general store from Elektro to Vybor and not found matches. I eventually died due to a zombie knocking me out through a wall because I had low enough blood and couldn't cook the full inventory of meat I had. Matches...the giver of life. I guess you're just unfortunate. I could give you a package since i got two packages lol :) I'd have thought 'Road Flares' would "start" a fire quite well...... Seems an obvious easy addition. Matches are still going to be preferable due to them not taking up a slot and more importantly not alerting anyone to your presence so are a considerable upgrade. On the subject of fires:- Having to use a hatchet to gather wood is a little silly to say the least. If you are in the woods/forest that should be all that is required. And i'd like to be able to catch & gut an animal if i only have a hunting knife. But capturing them considering they move now (maybe run in the future) some form of trapping may be viable 1st. When for eg 1 has had a hunting knife, matches & hatchet yet no gun & needed to eat then been able walk upto a pig and do nothing... *shrugs*. Similarly with wells & lakes - you should be able to take a drink. and :) lastly I'd have thought an old whiskey bottle (with an imaginary bundle of grass stuffed in the neck) would hold water..... maybe make it so it takes up 2 slots?

    Re Colour Blindness & current UI. Not sure if you are aware but the majoriety of colourblind sufferers can not distinguish Red & Green. The current colour changes in food & water indicators aren't of use to me. Are there plans to change the UI or would you consider the above to warrant a change any time soon? Also when using a high resolution (1920x1080 on a 40" tv for eg) the text sizes are far too small - are there plans to enable personalization of parts or the whole of the UI?

    Forgot to mention some pluses. A significant reduction in yellow (green? i'm colour blind) & red chains of doom. FPS seem solid and that also applies to lag &/or rubber banding zeds (full or low pop servers alike.) Connecting also seems swifter than before with a near flawless connect everytime. LOS seems to be working as stated. Its a breath of fresh air being able to loose a zed that you have agroed. If LOS being broken by bushes/trees and when in forests zeds are near blind once you enter could be implemented then that side of things is as fixed as it ever can be.

    I truely like the lack of items at spawn - my best ever play was after being dumped in the sea and then recovering (after a 20 minute lucky direction swim with the W key wedged down with cardboard - i did this as it was my 1st time wearing a ghillie suit :P I was left with hatchet, watch, matchbox & hunting knife. My other point is it'd be awesome if we only had a hunting knife and a flint/strike (matchbox i guess) BUT we could rip branches from trees and kill/gut animals with the knife (and drink water from wells/ponds without having to use a bottle.) Having a torch is useful though i'm finding it frustrating to use inside buildings with no reflected light and just a very small circle of vision - i'm assuming the torch was in "light" (no pun just lack of vocabulary pallet) of the recent beta patch change in night brightness (lack of.) Anyway 1.7.1.1 is obviously an improvement over previous 1.7.1. I've managed to stay alive long enough to make it worth considering travelling away from any nearby coastal town inland. Sad to see zeds losing directional sight due to stevie wonder heads (oh thats a bit ohhh.) but for now its for the best. Utterly amazed at the dedication Rocket is showing, i wish people would be a little more considerate when reporting their experiences though i'm sure its water off a ducks back after the 1000th time of reading "i'm not playing anymore" (i cant read those words without hearing a 5 year old say them all whiney.)

    Torch is as good as useless indoors for searching - possibly due to the arma2 beta patch? There is no reflected light so all you get is a small polo sized circle of light that often disappears when you shine toward the floor the closer to your feet. Unsure if this can be fixed unless somehow the chemlight "shine" can be blended. On the plus you can dodge zeds at night even to the point of (almost) being safe in the same room and why not, if you can't see them they bleeping well shouldn't be able to zone in on you (which i found was possible in 1.7.1. Conclusion - almost there :P *update* ...but the fekkers are still master locksmiths - opening doors surely is a higher brain function? little reminder to zeds - you're a fricken zombie! act like 1! :)

    Yep of course I didn't think of the server hjumping... damn :) would have been pretty cool to have the option. And certainly would help the new players. i'm hardly a vet but i feel for them i consider myself lucky to have been able to search zerlo, cherno, elektro, airfield etc those poor sods may never get to see them as the game stands.

    Seems kind of obvious, but i'm not sure if it is possible from server side never the less i'llput forward an idea. 2 difficulties. Veteran (or call it Bear Grylls) - Items as it currently stands or just hunting knife & lighter strike (matches are kind of silly for a warsim) and hunting knife should be able to "kill & gut" any animal even if the animation (mechanics)aren Normal (or call it Mummy holds your hand) - Items as previous 1.7.0. (maybe tweaked a little (makarov, 2 clips, 1 bandage, 1 painkiller, empty water bottle, 1 beans etc) and flares should also light a fire. Btw does the torch actualy "work"? how? I tried selecting with 'f' and left clicking, right clicking it inventory (yes i had swapped it from backpack to my hand.)

    Just thought i'd try night time - seems zombies can see just aswell in the dark - i couldn't see the friggin doorway to exit a tent but zed could not only find me it navigated around 2 medical tents, found the entrance without any problem and went directly to me as if it were a snifferdog with nightvision. I'm so glad they haven't got a virus and been turned into subhuman minimal thinking incapable zombies as this "survive against a horde of superhumans" game/mod would be ruined.....

    Work harder, faster, faster, you're not sweating enough blood, more, more !!! LOL @ "eating me alive" :) You had your laugh and drink of tears (more of a swim in tears.) Now you gotta change it back :P I've become slightly suspicious of your "experiments" i mean updates to entertain the thought you may have turned the zed's sight "power" to 11 so we'd settle for 10 :P no?

    Line Of Sight Still seems pretty hard to loose them though by running around (in & out) of buildings, walls, barns etc and don't think to use trees and bushes to hide in, just pretend they aren't there. Zeds see through those without ANY problem.

    I've had a walker pass me within 5 feet, his head was obviously turned away from me. He walked toward me and continued on by, the only times i'm being spotted is when zeds are a long way away often through trees or bushes where i just can not see them ... but they see me just fine :dodgy:

    I fear if changes are made they will be in the wrong areas (again). Keep the lack of weapons etc but revert back to being able to succesfully navigate around zombies by crouching/prone - Zeds are theoretically impaired from a virus so lets pretend it also effects hearing and sight (auditory & visual hallucinations) its feasable to me therefore there was no need to boost view distance, I assume it was only view distance but i've a feeling something else has changed as well. (Atm they seem to be near superhuman not as the commonly accepted notion of zombies being subhuman.) Anyone know?

    By all means toughen up the zombies but at least allow me to block, dodge & hit back, if the mechanics aren't there then don't toughen them up. And zombies need to carry loot of all kinds or is it part of the virus to throw all more useful stuff away?

    Just another person chiming in that the game is now as good as unplayable. An old saying comes to mind "If it ain't broke don't fix it" I don't remember reading 100's of people complaining about the zombie view distance. NOW I do though. Maybe thats the way to get things changed, mention everything ACCEPT the thing you actually want changed and that is what will be "fixed".? Also LOS dosen't seem to apply with trees and bushes I take it? Here's looking fwd to 1.7.2...........

    same 6 updater to update dayz & used the 93825 patch. The way i got it working was to use this "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" to launch the game then in the game goto Options, Expansions and mark (tick/check) the dayz mod, restart game and relaunch (again using "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" shorcut found C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 (or similar for steam (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common etc.)). Just use 6updater for keeping the mods upto date.

    Can someone point me in the right direction. SixUpdater is still saying (in the bottom display) that ArmA2 is at version 1.60.0.87580 even after applying "ARMA2_OA_Build_938252". DayZ version is correct (1.7.1 and green) How do i update six updaters display? and be sure it is correct version? If i use six updater to launch ArmA2 the version launched is the previous 1.60.0.87580 build, if i use the Beta Shorcut in ArmA2 Expansion beta folder only then game version is of course 1.60.0.938252 How can i sync Six Updater correctly?

    Fix (add) the ability to hold a torch at the same time as a gun (and not have to drop said gun or keep in backpack on top of loss of ammo slots.) and a 3 or 4 (near) pitch black night cycle as IRL and all is well. Not forgetting realistic gradual light increase/decrease over the full moon period, then there'd be no complaints. (Was there realy need to type the obvious?).

    Go outside when there is no moon out, go outside with no moon AND bad weather. You can't see shit. I'm sure you are aware theres only 3 or so nights of no moon at all, around 20 days of the moon cycle you can see well enough to navigate and not bump into anything even with clouds.
