Yeah. I don't want it to be movie style zombie gore but just a bit of evidence that the world has gone to sh1t :D It also wouldn't hurt to hto see bits fly of zeds when hacking them with an axe, or at very least some blood. Gimme blooooooood!!!!!!!!!!! :P -

Thanks for reply (& thanks for leaving out "its alpha"). I left mod when SA was announced so I would hasve missed discussion re "debris" though I did search prior to posting. Zombie duiscussion is around 18mins in whilst dean plays the game, theres a lot of mentions throughout though and its worth a watch as he covers a tonne of stuff thats incoming. The question time is also very informative. Fair comment on it not being like Walking Dead etc but re: 28 Days, there was evidence of the infestation from bodies to carnage to all kinds of immersion setting scenery & as DayZ Zombies feed and rip & tear on the fallen victims there should be bodies & parts. The Walking Dead, ignoring the special effects, covers the whole social interaction, breakdown of morale and morals etc etc at least as well as 28 Days if not far better. (Having said that we should see some blood spurting if we whack the ever loving out of someone/something with an axe) Come to think of it most Zombie movies from Dawn of the Dead to Shaun of the Dead ;P in fact virtually every good Zed movie covers this aspect quite well. The mod did have burial burn piles in though it was only a token gesture and far from enough "evidence" of an apocalypse in all honesty. So I see no real reason not to add these immersion enhancing bits 'n pieces regardless of DayZ's direction. Lastly the inclusion of loot able corpses - which could add a much needed element of surprise & jump scare fear potential by having "zleeper" zeds. (Zleeper tm, trademark ©Turk xD ) To explain what I mean by "zleeper":- scenario - you are desperate for water or food that corpse is likely to have something of use, suns going down but its not so dark, just yet, to need a flashlight, you hear gunshots nearby (lol atmosphere) so you want to keep out of sight, you crouch, duck into the shadows & slowly sneak up to the corpse. You rapidly start searching through its pockets mindful of being shot in the head any second... then BAM an ear piercing scream you almost soil yourself, maybe a little wee wee ;P but you won't tell that part of the story back at camp... that bloodied corpse ex.person isn't actually dead!!! It lunges at you with ferocious velocity ..... did it knock you over- does it grab you or miss, are you able to draw your gun or grab your bat fast enough to beat it off? Are you scathed? bleeding? Is it dragging itself toward you still? etc etc Personally I'd love that to be in the game. Surely that could be added with the current engine, tweak the hand cuff system as part of the capture set up to determine if you were caught by the Zed or not including a random possibility of being knocked over etc. The search ability is already in, so to speak, it would "only" require the model(s) and animation etc (as if I knew what that involved) :) Either way it'd be suspenseful, kinda scarey and fun as all hell. Even make it with a low possibility of a high tier non military item but with all searchable corpses having a relatively high risk of being a "zleeper". Damn I could go on and on with ideas, i'm sure we all could :) - i'll shut up now :P -

Of course i know alpha, & placeholders, i also said please proove me wrong, not tell me what i already knew. I even gave an example of what i know based on the contents of the video which explains the current state of zombies & their models. I was asking if anyone knew more. You don't so why reply? -

If you had actually read the contents rather than just replying to heading & assuming you knew what it was about you may have understood. Also its not a complaint based on the fact that the sentances end in a question marrk. That makes it...... amazingly, a..... question. Anyway, I'm asking if anyone knows if body parts and searchable dead are to be added or not and asking if anyone wishes to discuss the immersion aspect said items would add. Fairly obvious its a question, as theres 3 in the damn topic title. -
Thought it was fairly apparant that the only reason we are "playing" atm is for server testing / stat collection to aid in optimizations. Items - no matter what they are a secondary concern and what is in the game atm is bare bones to give us something to do. Its uterly pointless to add more weapons or anything else at this early stage. Think before posting.

Re your fps - its an optimization issue. fixes are incomming. Re: blood - black and white screen depicts loss of blood. eating food slowly replaces blood or a blood transfusion (make sure you have checked your blood type and it is the same as the blood or persons whose blood you are using. But it is a bit broke atm, and will get better (i absolutely hate the black & white screen as atm its 80% of game time. utterly unecessary and could be depicted just with blury screen edges instead which would still be a problem enough to want to get it cured but not a complete ruination of ones game experience. Something that needs a mass vote against to change unless planned. I don't know for sure. For more info check dayz wiki's or Daydb for detailed info. Google is your friend. Re: Helmets (& Clothing) as protection - 1 of many features to come. Including the need to be warm, catching colds etc linked to weather/day time etc. If an item of clothing is hit via bullet or melee it does get damaged and when the feature is fully reimplemented they will become less effective for protection to the point of only be worth ripping up into bandages. RE daylight/night - maybe server related. certainly intended to have real life times. Re: Weather. yes to be re-added asap.- see above re clothing. Re: Batteries - yes you can find them. - use the "Vicinity" option often when searching buildings (initially bound to TAB) as the battery model is (as IRL) very small. the size of a small lego on the floor. So most of your concerns are just due to Alpha & will be reimplemented, patched, fixed and optimized in time. The current DayzSA engine no longer has all the cluter from Arma2 such as controlling enemy weapons etc etc so eventually it will be far better on both client and server side. Having said all that it has to be considered that Dean categorically states that you should not buy SA in its current state unless you wish to support its development. Have faith. Lastly - no idea. most run grass as high as poss for immersion sake but..... hide in trees, behind rocks etc instead. -
I've not seen this mentioned elsewhere so here goes. As the current graphics glitch requires us to adjust either video memory or anti alising to reset graphics settings has anyone else experienced the overall image going blurry similar to loss of blood? It can be "cured" by adjusting graphics settings once again but thats not the point, is it a fixable bug? (it is very easy when low on blood to not actual realise this has occured making the game quite difficult to play of course, having to constantly fiddle with the settings just to insure clarity.) Also anyone else had that high pitched squeal occur and all other sound drop out? This happens often when throwing cans or bottles etc and your arm clips walls, staircases etc with a possible broke arm added for good measure. The high pitch noise slowly disapates and the sound returns, once you have cleaned the blood from your ears all is normal....

Dayz in stalkers X-ray graphics engine (or even the Havok with destructable/rebuildable eniroments) yes please. i guess its a bit late now, arma2 on paper sounds perfect but in reality it is holding dayz potential back, fighting off zeds needs to be a more dynamic fluent affair and use melee efficiently from gun butts to picking up sticks, pipes and anything (axes are ok but i've yet to get a crowbar swinging.) hell even the ability to jump (realistically) would be revolutionary :) and lets not imagine what it would be like to open, close doors, walk up down ladders & heaven forbid pick up an item with the press of 1 button! after all in real life it dosen't require upto 15 seconds just to get a triangle to appear to then select an action, you'd jump on that ladder, kick that door open and be gone, not in arma2/dayz its "if i can just highlight this gate then i can open it eventually..."... ouch my asss is being munched grrr!. same with trying to grab a weapon, mouse over it, scroll select and click oh zzz i fell asleep. the standalone is going to besome kind of arma2 source thing - i don't have high hopes, i wish i could be enthusiastic but by the time its remotely fixed i'll be long bored. -
Dunno I couldn't be bothered to read previous posts to find the question for you ;) better hope not everyone is like us eh? :D btw You only need read the op from Rocket to see future intentions, no mention means its not being worked on, yet. Its obvious it is required and that he's fully aware of it.

Pretty sure its just a refresh if the animal hasn't been hunted for a set amount of time. When it "disappears" its most likely respawned another in a nearby field. Happened to me earlier, cow vanished, i run around and see a sheep has spawned nearby that wasn't previously.there. On a side note re gutting & retrieving meat. If after you have gutted an animal you are unable to get the meat, walk away then return and crouch (or change from crouch to standing and back again to crouch.) seems to work every time so far. If you can't gut the animal nothing seems to change that yet though some claim running 100meters away n back works it hasn't for me (i think its related to desync). Re Cooking on a fire a second time. Often after using a fire once when you return to use it again it will only stay lit for a few seconds, the only way i have found to cook on it a second time is a bit of a key/mouse juggle. First light the fire then quickly using the scroll wheel try and select & click Cook meat asap even if the fire goes out as long as you selected cook fast enough it will complete the action. Moveing a little with the "W" key may also be needed.

What makes the eagle eyed zombies spotting you from a huge distance away unrealistic is that many times I find it hard to tell if its a zombie or a survivor myself that is running toward me across the field, so how the hell does a zombie with supposedly deteriated senses know the difference? Surely impaired vision, diminished judgement and "altered" hearing in line with brain damage are traits of a zombie infection? Before the eagle eye zombie patch the zombie aggro mechanic seemed believable (yet needed minor tweaks) , similar to when an animal attacks. As an animal would not just attack on sight rather it would upon being aggrovated by either getting too close to it, startled by noise or by being attacked / threatened. With the current set up surely we should see zombies running to attack each other from across fields?

at least being able to drink directly from wells & other water sources such as ponds, lakes & when it rains that too should be classed as a drink, ie as if we had collected enough in our hands :)certain sources could be an additional source of a fever when that is finally re-added working.

good point.1- i don't have the steam version - this maybe the problem but i've yet to see anyone else claim the m1911 or revolver is still a 1 shot. 2- earlier today i was shot 2 or 3 times by a murderer using a revolver so i'd assume the nerf is in effect against me (the nasty little shit only had a clip and liked the look of the aks 74u i was carrying, he chased me as i bled out, i guess hoping i'd drop, after a short run i switched it to full and let 2 clips out in his direction as he was running circles around me with 5 or 6 zeds chasing us, i didn't hang around but he obviously got hit as he must have gone down and the zeds finished him off (sweet sweet karma (btw i never shoot unless shot at), i bandaged in the wood and then retutrned to tea bag him :P (i digress) 3- i've yet to update from :P 1.62.95389/1.7.2.4 but next time i play i will be using 1.62.95714/1.7.2.5 though i doubt i'll see any change as its been 1 shot kills with m1911 & revolver with 3 arma2 updates since 1.62 was released.

so (i don't know which is why i ask) everytime a server is restarted all tents loose their contents?would i be correct in saying that it wouldn't matter if all tents were deleted/reset?based on the fact the problem with tents is due to their being over a million, the tents with a code of 1 million + are now the 1s causing errors and therefor any tent added from then on will be glitchy. seems the obvious action is to reset the lot no?

i guess thats typo number 2 regardless of the last 5 digits the nerf was included in the main update 1.6.2.0.xxxxxx from 1.6.0.0.xxxxxx that is why i used x's becuase that isn't important

thanks, but obviously i am and have been since 1.7.2.4 was released. didn't you read the post? only thing that may have mislead you was 1.7.1.4 when i meant 2.4 - if i'm using 1.62.0. then as i said the nerf should have been applied but it hasn't.m1911 & revolver are still 1 shot kills for me (on zombies, i haven't murdered anyone) and i'm using 1.62.0.95389 with dayz 1.7.14 (though i'll use 1.7.2.5 next but that wont change the nerf)

As weapon nerf was adeed in version 1.62.0.XXXXX and i am using beta update 1.62.0.xxxxxx then it IS the correct update, of course dayz version has no effect (yet) but nerf would be working with any version especially 1.7.2.3 onward, i was using 1.7.2.4. Even though i wrote 1.7.14 it was a typo but never the less the dayz version would not matter as nerf was in the arma2 engine nothing to do with dayz.
