Is there no way to see a list of your items? I mean like instead of finding an item in my inventory based on its icon, I like to scroll down my list of items to see exactly what I have. That would be the only issue I think I have with this. Otherwise it looks great.

The issue is that the people shooting at you are likely doing that because they were in your shoes at one point. I'll bet most players want to be friendly at some point in Day Z, but after being shot on sight dozens of times, it destroys any sense of trust you have of other players. Is there really any benefit to teaming up with other players? The only thing they can do is heal me, but I can do that myself if I have enough food to bring my blood up. When I see another player, I can hope they're friendly and won't shoot me, but if I take that chance and am wrong I will be killed and lose everything. Or I can shoot. I typically try to just hide from other players unless they're very clearly killing players. I like hunting bandits.

I've heard of people reaching over 30-60 days, but of course they didn't actually play over 720 hours to get there. They would start the character and not play for a while, which lengthened their survivor time even though they weren't actually playing.

Just try using Day Z Commander. http://www.dayzcommander.com/ I started with Six Launcher and it worked fine, but I wanted the added functionality that dzc gives you. Once you have it installed, check what it says when you click "versions" in the upper-right corner of the window. Everything should be up to date. There is also a settings tab, but you shouldn't need to change anything there (no launch parameters, and don't check either box under "Steam options." I have the game installed on Steam, but when I launch Day Z I do it by finding a server in either Day Z Commander or Six Launcher and clicking to join from there. Steam is never loaded, I have no steam overlay (but I don't particularly care) and Steam doesn't track my playtime in Arma. None of that matters. Let us know if you're able to get it working or what happens when you try the things we suggest!

As a short term fix, maybe. Unfortunately, those will only last for as long as a bandit and his victims are on the same server. It's nice in my opinion to have a more permanent option, even if it is imperfect.

I have an m11x (the 11 inch version with a much worse processor and video card) that I use for occasional gaming on the go and I was surprised to find that Day Z runs quite well on it. I've only played once on it and I didn't really check how high the settings were, but it did the job.
