Gaming mouse. Is it worth it?

I saw you mention you were worried about whether they were worth the money. Firstly, the only gaming mouse I've ever owned, a Razer Boomslang 2007 Collectors Edition, which I've had for around 3 years now has been great value for money, I think it cost £30 at the time, it came in a really nice tin, with nice padding in it, and the driver disc. It has a really nice long cable with a gold plated USB connector. With 3 years of use, the only wear is a slight bit of rubbing on the rubber material that covers button 1 + 2. Everything else is still flawless and nothing has ever gone wrong with it. So build quality and are you getting your moneys worth with a gaming mouse? If you buy a Razer, as most people would probably recommend, YES! The other great thing is the ability to map keys and stuff. And if you're into aesthetics with some gaming mice they have fancy programmable lights that you can play around with, which personally I'm a fan of. I wouldn't bother a mouse that has changeable weights, seems a bit pointless and they're always expensive. Just make sure you're getting a nice DPI, I think 3500 is the point to aim for at the moment and make sure it looks like it'll be comfortable and have enough butons to be functional.

    Stealth kills

I think that quite simply, whilst stealth kills are fun in some games, stylistically it isn't really fitting with DayZ,

    Making DayZ harder (less bandits?)

The way to make this game harder in my opinion is to design the game so that players need to go back to the cities more often. Right now all you need to technically reach end game is: A hatchet (to kill animals and chop wood) A box of matches (to turn said wood into a fire) A water bottle (to constantly refill and rehydrate yourself) Anything more than that is a luxury. Now instantly there are at least two opportunities for the game to get harder already; The box of matches could be limited to say having only 10 matches. The hatchet will eventually get dull and need to be sharpened. There's a wide range of things that could make you need to head back to the city, illness, the need for dry clothes, boredom... we could go on. I think making the need to go back to the city is more important than making the woods dangerous.

    Standalone ( Music )

They need to get John Murphy onboard for the soundtrack, ala 28 days later.
  5. Now I'm running a fairly modest setup with a sapphire Radeon hd 6570 and I had the known graphical issues in airfields, and around medical tents and such. However, I recently did two things to my machine, I installed the release candidate of windows 8 and ran that and DayZ all from a single SSD (before I had windows 7 installed on an SSD and a spinning disk where all my games were installed). For some reason I no longer have any graphical problems. Would be interested to know if anyone else is running windows 8 and has had the same outcome as me?

All I got from that post is that you like the number 5 a lot.

What Exactly is Dayz & a Few Questions

It is a MODification of the game ArmA 2, in order to play DayZ you would have to buy ArmA 2 on steam for £25, and install the mod, which is easily done via software called 'six updater' or 'dayz commander'. You should be made aware that this is only a mod, the mod itself is free to play. However, the developers will be releasing an official standalone version within the next few months, so you might want to wait for that.
  8. Love the zombie idea, infact the whole thread is just brilliance.
  9. Hmmm, I'm going to bet all my beans owned past future and present that they will make a lot of money on this.
  10. Good point. Idea ruined!
  11. I think some people would show the red flag, theres a lot of people playing this game for the PvP elements. Thats not the point though, thats actually the most boring part of the post. You've missed the part about if you do show a white flag and still kill people you'll get blood on your flag eventually turning it red. Infact, maybe everyone starts with the white flag, and it could work directly with the humanity meter in game already.
  12. This is a bit of a silly idea but actually might work and lead to some interesting gameplay. My thought is rather than your skin magically changing on becoming a bandit or a hero, what if you had a flag attached to your backpack that you could choose to display or not. So for example if you're friendly its white, if you're not it's red. This is where a bit more depth gets added to the idea.... I propose that actually you get to choose whether you display a white or red flag, and obviously you've got the choice of whether you want to have a flag at all. If you choose to have a white flag and you have been killing players, you could perhaps have specks of blood accumulate upon the flag, which would not be particularly easy to notice from afar. Maybe at the start you don't actually have the materials to even display a flag and you have to find old clothing and chop a piece of wood to make it? Probably a silly idea, let me know.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

I've read most pages of this 35 page long topic, and I haven't seen it asked anywhere. Realistically, how many players could a server have if it does use a slightly changed ArmA3 engine? I've been playing a bit on the 80 player server, and whilst at times it can be very frustrating it can also be super fun. The more the merrier it seems to me, to an extent.

    DayZ without Zombies?

I think you're playing the wrong game if thats what you want surely?

    ArmA 3 vs ArmA 2

No it's a hackintosh, its basically just a dual booting machine. So it's a desktop that I've built myself that can boot both Windows 7 and Mac OSX, or any operating system for that matter.
