You're so wise... You're like a miniature Buddha. You're complete lack of knowledge in your signature is amazing. But in general, you are amazing. If you keep practicing, you too can color within the lines one day. Don't get frustrated, it's an instrument for teaching, and you will master it eventually.

Hello Survivors Our server is finally back online, however we have changed IP's due to a massive, seemingly never ending DDoS attack. Our new IP is listed in my signature. We restart every 4 hours, at restart it is 4PM, so you get approximately 2 hours of daylight and 2 hours of night. We have a website also listed in case you have any problems or complaints you want to take up with myself. If you feel that you need to, then you can report them here. We are NOT operated by a clan or group that plays together, most of the admin team are made up of solo players, but if you feel as though one is being abusive please report it on here or to myself on our forums, or via a private message. For right now, you shouldn't even notice an admins presence because server restarts are taken care of automatically and we don't have access to much else to confirm or deny suspicious activity. Our server is located in Central US out of Kansas City. We have a TeamSpeak 3 Server holding up to 75 people. It is open to the public, although, if you would like we can setup a passworded channel for a group that you have. Just ask on our forums and we can get you setup. The server is noobanon.typefrag.com port 60140 We do plan to have prizes and giveaways when tracking of statistics in game is available. We do not encourage KoS on our server, and most of the admin team are not bandits. We do however think that KoS and Bandits are a part of the game, so don't expect us to put a stop to it, we just do not engage in that activity. We do not take sides and we do not kick, even to make room for ourselves. We pride ourselves on having an equal opportunity gaming server. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
-
We have again fixed the "time setting" on our server, so it should now be starting at 5PM again allowing some day and some night every 4 hours. We also attempted to reset our "restart scheduler" so that it "should" once again be restarting every 4 hours. We would like to remind everyone having problems with admin abuse that our server is a fun and fair place to play. We would also like to know if people would prefer to remove third person view, or change the server to hardcore mode, which also disables third person.

How long does it take for a new server to appear in the server browser
NoobAnon replied to theirongiant's topic in Server Advertisement
Good point, that is my bad, I didn't really mean the browsing system in specific. I should have been a little more generic instead. Maybe I should have just omitted that comment, considering I don't know that there is any relation between the MoD server listing issues and the SA. However, while the listing systems have changed, definitely for the better, the way servers operate and "load" have alot of similarity. I know they are completely different in many aspects now, but there are some things that are run the same way as before. I wasn't pointing the finger at that being the problem, I was just saying, right now no one knows, but we do know there were problems in the MoD, and somethings are very similair, so perhaps the problem could just be an inherent server bug related to something minute that hasn't changed. Or it could be completely on the server hosts' end, something they never changed because it didn't need changing. I dunno. I was just throwing some guesses out there. Either way I'm glad you solved your problem Irongiant. -
How long does it take for a new server to appear in the server browser
NoobAnon replied to theirongiant's topic in Server Advertisement
There have always been issues with servers not showing up in the browser and I doubt the browsers coding has changed much. So, what I would recommend would be to make sure you are browsing "INTERNET" games, and not "LAN". Second I would check your filter, and set your ping high and make sure nothing else is "set" to anything, like a server name, so the list will show fully. Last but not least, refresh the list, and wait till it is fully populated, THEN, go back in and type your server name, or even just a few letters incase you mispelled it. If your server is still not showing up, but playable then something is wrong. Always give it 24 hours just incase it is something as simple as a cache not being reset somewhere so it's not showing up. If it's still not showing up after 24 hours I would contact your host. I assume you already have the issue resolved, but I'm letting other know. -
So, after some time waiting on a response, we were told that it appeared to be functioning properly. So... We set the server start time 1 more hour ahead, please let me know if this solves the issue so we have some day and some night as I rarely have the time to play for more than 30 minutes or so here and there right now. We are also looking for admins at different times, so we can have someone around to restart the server if it crashes and doesn't come back up. We do have an automated system to restart the server in the event of a crash, but sometimes having to wait 5-15 minutes on the automated system to catch it can be highly distressing to players, so having an admin online during those crashes would be nice. We are not in a rush for admins right now as there isn't much admins are capable of right now, but we would like to have a good team by the time the game in close to completion. If you are interested, send me a private message and I will respond as quickly as I can.
-
Thank you for the info, the host says it seems to be working correctly. This weekend I will change it to a slightly later start time and see if we get more night.
-
The server should be back up again now, I know your post was from a week ago, although the problem happened again today. Just letting you know it is infact back online. I am awaiting a response from the host on the daylight/night issue, because our server is set to the proper time to include some nighttime before restart.
-
Yea, apologies, the host has been having some issues. We are trying to get it figured out, it seems our "online" time has been rather shoddy here lately. I am going to check into the lack of night time and see if I can figure out what is going on. Perhaps the starting hour got moved back earlier than it should have been.
-
I'm not sure where you are getting that we think we are "above you". Perhaps my word choice would compel you to feel this way, but I assure you, I do not think I am above you. I would however like to say some things in regards to what you have said to others and me. I am quite certain that I was hosting and operating servers well before your time, and I am not an animal. However, your first point makes no sense, you say, long before we came along, gaming and their communities, supported any game and the mods. What exactly are you trying to say? I see you are saying, they supported coding/renting/websites, and that we shouldn't tell those that rent, that they shouldn't spend their money or dedication to run a server. Again, you are making no sense. Perfect example is Origins? Please do not compare this to Origins, there is a distinct reason Origins has been falling apart. I did infact run an Origins server for quite some time, we were ranked 2nd in terms of popularity before I gave up on Origins. The reason Origins failed is because the Developers (if you call them that) provided no support to server renters, and the server hosts didn't either because they had signed a non-disclosure agreement. So, no one would fix anything and the server renters (you and me) couldn't fix anything either. That wouldn't be that big of a deal if Origins wasn't based solely around progression and keeping that progression. So, when everyone had spent countless hours building and collecting, and the server came onto "issues", you had to wipe the server and start over because no one would fix anything and you weren't allowed to. That is what destroyed Origins, not to mention that fact that admins had full control over their server, but had no ability to actually monitor what was happening. So you could lock/whitelist/kick/ban. But you had no idea what was happening. They even locked log access. Which is fine, if someone is taking care of the hacking, which they weren't. Hacking was rampant in Origins, and no admin could control it. It was a guessing game, kick people you don't know until the bombing stops, then ban the last one out. Now onto, the games "needing" the coders and clans. I can assure you, that for every clan that dislikes what is currently allowed, there is one that is fine with it, same goes for "coders", of which they don't need. I think you are completely missing what is going on. There are Public servers and Private servers, private is not released yet. YET, being the keyword. You will get to have a private hive, where you can operate you clan and do whatever you like. But in the realm of the public hive it is unfair to allow servers to lock themselves. It is TOO easy to exploit this. It wouldn't matter at all if your character didn't carry over to another server, then every server would be private. You need to remember this is not CoD or counter strike, this is an MMO. I'm not sure if you have played any other MMOs, but you can't let people on one server have special rules, that can then jump to another server with a different set of rules and carry over what they did on the other server. You might as well ask for "clans" to be able to purchase gear sets from BI and be able to just load into servers with gear already in place. Granted, not all those wanting to lock their servers want to do this, so they can loot and jump to a non-locked server and go kill, but MANY will. This would damage the community, you CAN wait until private hives are available, then anything you do on your locked server will STAY on your locked server like it should. Lastly, you are correct, no one has the right to tell you how to spend your money. Only you can tell you how to spend your money. So....? I guess I'm not understanding what you are talking about. That's like saying, I bought a Lambo and got a speeding ticket, this is BS. No one FORCED you to rent a server. What they did, was say, IF<------- You want to rent a server, HERE are the rules. You said, OK!! But now you say, NO, I don't agree with those rules, you can't tell me how to spend my money. That makes absolutely no sense. Did you know that there are TERMS OF USE when you buy a game? They dictate HOW you can use that game and you MUST follow them. No one said you had to buy it, YOU CHOSE to do that. And your theory on who pays for the public hives is quite interesting. If you use that logic, then actually the person who employs you pays for the public hive, and if you go farther, the customer of your employer pays for the hive. I mean, how far do you want to take it? Lets say you work at a department store, just a guess...(Arrows -> indicate money transfer) Department Store Customer Buys Something -> Department Store Pays YOU for working -> You Pay money to rent server -> Server host pays royalty to BI -> BI pays Datacenter to run public hive.... Come to think of it, you are giving your money to rocket! He should be answering you directly and cleaning your house for what you pay. Seriously, come on... Put this on console if you want people to fall in line and obey? I think that's what rules are for. You must be someone who thinks they are above the rules. You probably download bootleg movies because you don't agree that you should have to pay to see them. Or you're the other side that gets mad when a bootleg movie comes out and it's not bluray 1080p quality and you go off and badmouth the person that provided you with it. Instead of telling other people what to do, why do you do what most of are doing, and read the rules, then either agree and continue, or disagree and stop. Let's not forget above all else.... THIS IS ALPHA, YOU WERE VERY CLEARLY WARNED AND YOU ARE VERY CLEARLY WARNED WHEN YOU LOG INTO THE GAME THAT IT IS NOT COMPLETE!! Stop assuming certain aspects should be completed to cater to your needs, or else it will fail. It will only fail if things promised aren't ever implemented. Until it's complete, let's all just calm down and stop expecting things to be a certain way, please.

[Falcon] DayZ Standalone Roleplay/Realism Server Private Shard
NoobAnon replied to redblaster100's topic in Servers
I think you have a good thing going, it's only a bummer really you can't technically enforce your rules until you can be on your own hive. I only say it's a bummer because you aren't doing it to exploit other servers, but there would be people who would. RP is not my cup of tea, but I say more power to you my friend. I will direct people looking for a good RP server to you, maybe if you get enough RP'ers you won't have to worry about enforcing the rules and can actually do your thing without having to wait on private hives and whitelisting. -
Just wanted to let you know since you are following this post, our IP has changed, but we are back online now. The new IP is listed in my signature.

How i can host my own dedicated server ?
NoobAnon replied to XaTriX (DayZ)'s topic in Server Advertisement
In the future possibly... however, you are saying 100mb/s. First, are we saying 100mbit, or 100mbyte, second is that up and down? The reason I ask, is because I'm not sure whether you are talking about a box run out of your own home? If it is run out of your own home, you will likely see poor performance for a number of reasons, depending on what connection you are paying for. If it is out of your home, do you have a static IP? -
So I'm geared up and know how to be careful. What now?
NoobAnon replied to pakundo's topic in General Discussion
Since we are in the alpha there isn't alot left "to do". So my recommendation is rather than becoming a bandit, why not explore and look for bugs. I'm not trying to say bandits are bad, or helping players is good, those are parts of the game that will always be there. However, assisting in finding bugs and problems will be far more beneficial to getting more content out faster. We all want more content and more things to do, but if you feel like you've done what you can, I say, explore and find problems. Search for the places people aren't going, and try to find bugs and issues, write them down and post them. Be something better than just a player in the alpha. Or, you can always just explore and look for the best places to scope areas from from helping or being a bandit. There are alot of things you can do right now, just not alot of progression you can do right now. That's my beans :-) -
I think the music made the video. I can't say I play like that, but if people didn't then it would all be happy fun time considering the zombies are underwhelming and beyond easily avoidable. Personally I think if the handcuffs and the like were put in to stop KoS then that was a bad attempt. People who KoS will always KoS unless there is a consequence. If we really want to stop KoS then zombies should be much more dangerous and highly over the top be attracted to gunshots even if they are chasing someone already. That way it's a bad idea to shoot a gun in a city or town. But even with alot more zombies it's not going to change anything, they just simply aren't threatening. So overall, I'm not a fan of what you do, but I'm not against what you do either. It is what it is and it's a part of DayZ. Although, forcing people to do bad things would be more entertaining, atleast to those of us watching.

This feature could and should be implemented right now. However, it lies in the server hoster's hands to create the scripts to do this. I highly doubt Rocket and Co. will be taking the time to develop those sorts of things as it is a server run feature. They merely need to implement the ability to write global messages, which is already in place if you are logged in as Admin as some have said above. We try to do this on our server, however we have scheduled restarts so unless we are paying close attention and logged on, we may miss the incoming restart and not give warning in time. We need to be asking our server hosts to add a warning system into our restart scheduler. All it needs to do is "message" all players in global chat that a restart is incoming. It could be developed to match the MOD's restarter's and actually give a timer that counts down saying 5 min, 4,3,2,1, restart. It's just going to take time for them to develop the scripts, and depending on what is on their priority list, this may happen soon, or it may happen later. Rocket and Co. could probably make this feature easier for them to do, but again, it all depends on what the priorities are right now. And I think most priorities are on stopping hacking and fixing bugs. New features will be slower to roll out than bug fixes I would I think, but we'll see.
-
Our server is precisely like that. We restart every 4 hours, we start at mid-day early-evening for the first 2 hours, then early-evening into night the last 2 hours. Please write us down because we are currently unavailable due to a DDoS attack that took us offline just before Christmas. We are waiting on the Vilayer team to return to work and turn our server back on. Until then we are waiting.

The reason Rocket has no say over VAC bans is because VAC bans are applied to all VAC enabled games. Therefore the system of bans for VAC must be very structured and streamlined, so you don't get alot of "Wrongful Bans" causing people to be unable to play multiple games. If Rocket and Devs create another ban system structure that is native to DayZ only, then he will have control over player bans but then so will most server owners more than likely. I would say this is a system that may come in time, but I wouldn't keep my hopes up. There will always be hackers willing to lose their privileges for easy kicks. There is no master super ban system that is absolutely correct or absolutely permanent. It just is not possible, otherwise they wouldn't be called hackers even though that is pretty loose term for most cheaters.

Please refer the to the post I made here http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158400-private-gear-farming-servers-are-now-a-thing/#entry1587961 Admins are not "allowed" to do these things. Some are, and it needs to be stopped much much faster. I would think the rules will start getting enforced very strictly after the holidays, but right now I think most people are not working on any of these issues. Please remember, everything is in alpha so, things don't get fixed over night anyways. If you want to play on a reputable server then I recommend playing on a reputable server. Most "Gaming" servers that are not run by a clan are a pretty safe place to play. Although some are still bad, just like some clan servers are reputable places to play. If you see a server doing something fishy, then stop playing on it. Our server for example is run by essentially random individuals that for the most part do not play together, for this reason, we have fairly good checks and balances. And if all else fails you can always get on our website and report any abuse directly to me and I will take care of it. Our admins are not more important than someone joining for the first time. No one has any special prileges, including myself. Only downer right now is our server is unavailable due to a DDoS attack right before Christmas, and I would say until the Vilayer team returns to work our server will be down. Hopefully they don't take long holiday breaks.

"Private" gear farming servers are now a thing
NoobAnon replied to AmirDayz's topic in General Discussion
Neither is allowed. There are no "customized servers" and there is no private testing. All that is allowed is public servers, and all must be open to all players. That is how people know. They can claim to be "testing" but that doesn't give them a right to kick people or lock their servers. So one last time for those confused.... Maintaining an empty server or kicking people to play by yourself or with friends, regardless of the reason, is infact against the rules. As Stated in an email going out to server renters... We would like to remind everyone that locking your server is not currently allowed. This may change in the future but currently all DayZ Standalone servers must remained unlocked at all times. We understand in can be frustrating when your server keeps filling up as you and your friends try to join. However, a locked server allows the nature of the central hive system to be abused. To ensure a fair gameplay experience for everyone, all servers must remained unlocked at all times. We are currently operating on a 3 strike system. The first 2 times a server is found to be locked we will temperately disable it and open a ticket. You will need to respond to the ticket to have your server enabled again. If a server is found to be locked a 3rd time it will be permanently disabled. We appreciate everyone's understanding. Q) Can I have more or less than 40 slots? A) We currently are currently restricted to having 40 slots as a max. We hope that down the line this will be lifted and we can change this, allowing you to upgrade/downgrade your slots accordingly. Q) Can I upload any of my own content, mods, loading screens ect? A) Rocket has mentioned down the road there will be modding but currently the server files have been locked down whilst the game is in its Alpha state, if everyone plays the game with the same settings they can iron out the bugs quicker allowing the game to progress to the point where modding will be allowed. FTP has been disabled for all Standalone servers, we had it pointing out FTP was available before which is not correct and this email has been corrected. Q) How do I password or whitelist my server? A) Currently due to restrictions we cannot put passwords on any of the servers we provide. -
"Private" gear farming servers are now a thing
NoobAnon replied to AmirDayz's topic in General Discussion
Locking or intentionally keeping a server empty is against the rules. All servers are public and all servers are "supposed" to be playing by the same rules. Dropping slot counts below 40 outside of the non-US servers is against the rules, and even those low bandwidth areas are still only allowed to drop to a minimum of 30 slots. I would very much hope that enforcement of these rules gets very strict. In the case of "Rape Cave", they are notorious for bending rules and hacking server files to run their own servers. I think whoever runs that series of servers needs to be permanently banned from the standalone hosting. I have seen that very same group create servers for other dayz mods that run on hacked server files when server files aren't available publicly. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if some of these servers that are breaking the rules aren't running on hacked server files with their own hive or hacked access to the public hive. I wouldn't get your hops up on seeing anything major happen over the next couple of days since it's the holidays, and maybe not even till after the new year. Our server has been down for 72+ hours now, rented from Vilayer, and it is still not back up, and no responses to our tickets. We received an email saying our server was under DDoS attack and would be started and available again when the attack subsided. Well, that was over 3 days ago. They even claim to have anti-DDoS systems in place to minimize attacks. I'm not saying Vilayer is a bad host, I'm saying everyone in the working world is probably not working or not bothering to care about anything right now since it's the holidays. It blows, but it's life. -
Player Logging is REALLY killing gameplay
NoobAnon replied to crypticsilence's topic in New Player Discussion
Although I agree completely, I don't think this is necessarily the biggest issue to fix. I think it should be fixed sooner rather than later, just not what I would call a top priority. We need a quality system in place to stop this. I don't want to see some quickly thrown up combat logging system that has issues and ways to exploit it. It is highly annoying when people combat log, just like server hopping for loot is highly annoying. I think there needs to be a combination system in place to stop both. Personally I think the best fix for both would be something along the lines of... Initially when logging out, you have a countdown timer that shows on your screen and you are locked out of your controls. However you can cancel it, incase a zombie storms up to you or you see a player somewhere near that may kill you before your timer runs out. And Logging in should stay like it is, atleast at your first login. If you logout/login more than twice in say 15 minutes, your logout timer should increase. And you should have a login delay, so you character appears in game a good 10-15 seconds before you can do anything. Swapping servers should also apply the same penalty, again, within a certain short time frame. I also think the logout/login delays should increase the more you login/logout within a certain time frame. So potentially, if you are server hoping, you end up having your character in game atleast a solid minute before you can even do anything, again, provide a timer showing time until you can play, and time until your "delay" is gone so those not wanting to exploit the system aren't punished simply because they thought they could logout and take a leak and jump back in. Of course this system would need balancing and testing to find the sweet spot that isn't too punishing on people just logging out and logging in, and punishing enough to discourage those attempting to exploit the system. One last note, your "time to cancel logout" would not change even if your character stays in game longer. So if you logged out the first time, you would be able to cancel that logout up until your character was actually gone. However, if you logout again, shortly after the first logout, you still can only cancel that logout for the same time you could on your first logout, but your character actually stays in the world longer without the ability to cancel. Hopefully that makes sense, but I think finding the balance on a system like that would be beneficial in more than one way without being to punishing or too complicated to implement. No need for range finding on other players, or whether you are "in combat" or not. Just a traditional MMO style logout/login system with a twist since there are multiple servers you can hop onto and an always PvP enabled world. -
Actually what your video is showing is the naming convention of MPGS. They just wrote the "Map Version" as "Dayz_Auto" instead of "DayZ_Auto". This actually has nothing to do with time setting. It's more likely that MPGS only has the option to set a static time for the server to be, so if they set it to 3PM, the game will just always be 3PM. Now, the "24/7" filter search does work, it doesn't show all daylight servers. It only shows the servers that are actually advertising themselves as "24/7". Our server is "mostly" day, but we don't advertise that in our Server Title. However, these methods may return good enough results if you are just looking for a 24/7 daylight server. Just not guaranteed, the first is obvious, the "filter" is mostly accurate, although someone can write 24/7 in their server title and the server not be 24/7 daylight, probably rare or never happens, but it's not a garauntee. Hopefully at some point we will have specific naming conventions required for servers to specify server times or 24/7 daylight/night. I'm not trying to say anyone is wrong, just informing people of what that all actually means, it doesn't mean those methods don't work. Although, this post does not belong in this section, this should be moved to Servers.

Anyway to configure In game time after restart?
NoobAnon replied to MarKeR (DayZ)'s topic in Server Advertisement
It all depends on who your hosting provider is. Some as stated above make it stay at a specific time. Ours, allows you to set a specific time that the server jumps to at restart. So if you at set to 4PM, then when your server restarts it will be 4PM and the clock will start rolling from there. And when the server restarts it will jump back to 4PM again. This allows you to enjoy some day, and some night. What would be ideal would be to be able to pick a global time that the server runs on. So that the clock actually moves regardless of restart, but still allows you to set the time. So you would set it based on + or - of the server clock itself. So if it's 4PM where you live, and 4PM in game, the time will always match regardless of restart, thereby allowing full day and night cycles. Hopefully we will be able to set a server to specific timezones, so if we want mostly day, when we mostly play, we can have it, but if we log in late at night, it will actually be night, rather than the current time jumping setup. As far as I know, you can only set the time in game to either match the actual server time, or a specific time, whether static or a specifc start time after restarts. I'm not 100% sure of that, but what I am 100% sure of is that what you can do should be available in your TCAdmin from your host. If you can't find it, look in their knowledge base or FAQ. If you still can't find it, submit a ticket and ask. As of right now, there is nothing you can do via RCon to set time and there probably won't be. Hopefully that all makes sense and helped you out a little.
