    Why the radio silence?!?

Personally, I'd say DayZ has become popular because of the idea and the promise of agile development. The idea is getting more and more competition and isn't new enough anymore to hype over. Agile development is simply not used anymore, Minecraft updated often and Notch communicated a lot. Pretty sure he didn't go to all the conventions just after releasing his pre-alpha of Minecraft. I understand you'd like to see DayZ in some form on all platforms available, but without a game to promote you have nothing. Modding has been around for years in many forms, and just because this mod touches a genre people want to play for about 2-3 years now has this become popular. Long story short: Develop the mod/game -> promote it -> distribute to multiple platforms -> infinite fame and riches.
  2. Pretty sure it's the game or server that causes long loading times, not the launcher.

    DayZ at GamesCom

They only had 3x4 pc's lined up, to show Carrier Command(Not sure), ArmA3 and DayZ. No further info whatsoever. EDIT: You were talking about the business area, never mind then. Rocket has given at least 2 interviews, that's all I know.

    1.7.3 @ gamescom

I'm lazy. I know I can manually install, I've done it a couple times before installing SixLauncher. The reason that it's not SixLauncher-approved says to me that the patch has not done what it was supposed to do.

    1.7.3 @ gamescom

Not sure you are replying to me, but that's not what I meant. I simply don't understand why they are running 1.7.3 on gamescom when we have no news at all, not even regarding patch 1.7.2.5 which was released a week ago.

    1.7.3 @ gamescom

I'm kinda confused as to why there is no news about development after the still-not-rocket-approved patch 1.7.2.5 was supposed to fix artifacts. Basically this: OMG WHY YOU NO WORK HARDER!? :)

    1.7.3 @ gamescom

Looking at the youtube videos, not much.
  9. OMGWTFBBQ!!11!!1 DOGS AT GAMESCOM!! On a serious note, why are you guys running a version of the alpha that is "not ready for release" at an event? Just to generate hype? Also, what's up with 1.7.2.5? It's still not SixLauncher-approved but not only is almost every server running it, there are no updates at all about why it isn't released or new fixes for artifacts.

Can people PLEASE read the goddamn reddit? Rocket's AMA cleared a whole lot of questions, including the mod support.. He said they will probably allow community-made or custom-made maps in the standalone eventually and maybe in the mod too. Also, the engine for the standalone is a heavily modified version of BIS' latest engine, the one for ArmA3. But as far as I know, they will be tweaking it down to let people with mid-range pc's run it on normal.
  11. Hmm, liked the idea of DayZ being unique in the way that it's completly free-roam.. What's next? The need to have mechanic skills to fix a car? Oh, here's the rage: "omg y no survlv pvp!?!?! i wana shoot dem peeps not learn talent trees and skillzz!!"

    DayZ on consoles

Don't see any problem with this at all, what the hell is wrong with you people? Some people prefer console gaming, it has nothing to do with what a game will become after it has been ported. We should actually be happy by the way, nowadays a lot of games are made for consoles first and then PC gamers get a crappy last-minute port that ruins the experience. In this case, he said it will be a port after it has become a good game, just like minecraft. Also, there is no reason at all to say that this announcement is somehow too soon. EDIT: See the answer to my first and rhetorical question in my sig :D

    Standalone pricing clarification

The Minecraft model works something like this: you pay a heavily discounted price for alpha, for example €7,- , and the price increases when it gets closer to version 1 of the game. By doing this they'll have some money while still developing the game and early buyers will have the game for a discounted price. Rocket said the final price will probably be around 15/20$ , just like minecraft.
