Things that should reduce banditing
Aftershok replied to Woman! Make me food's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
On the contrary, they are far too easy to find if you look in the right places, the amount of them going around in-game is ridiculous and although I have access to several of them, it is true that they should be removed altogether. -
After you've played the game for a while, you realise how easy it is to gear up and dying becomes as fun as playing as you get to go back to the coast with absolutely nothing.

From what I understand, once you have expended your cartridge it is replaced by an empty one, which you can refill with bullets? I like the idea, but having boxes of ammo allows people to carry too much and the whole point is that your space is limited so carrying so much ammo is not efficient.

I don't often post threads of this nature, but unfortunately sometimes it is necessary due to the problems myself and other players within the group I play with have experienced playing on US 1543. The first problems were nothing too serious, a bit of combat logging and some ghosting but nothing unexpected. Our group found a few vehicles and as such we started to frequent the server more often. It's been fine for a few days and we had had no problems with them until today. One of our group discovered their base, within which 2 of their tagged members {PAF} BoomPow and {PAF} Foxtrot, as well as another untagged player named Matthew. At first they were firing off shots at will, seemingly random which seems a bit unusual as ammo for the particular weapon, an M240 (I believe) is not a particularly easily obtainable item in large quantities. After a few minutes of this random firing Matthew was killed, although the three of them within the group had been running around. Our friend who had been maintaining over-watch on their base then found a player right next to him and subsequently was killed. This is where things got really interesting; I met up with a friend who had his motorbike that we were going to go north with, upon getting on to the motorbike a black SUV teleported in front of us with both Matthew and {PAF} BoomPow inside it (PMC addon SUV), seeing this I immediately opened fire on the two of them within the vehicle - Matthew was killed although even after 8-9 shots {PAF} BoomPow was still alive and had time to take his M240 out and kill both myself and the player I was with. By no means am I clearly stating that {PAF} are a clan of hackers, although an explanation from a {PAF} member would be nice to clarify this situation. EDIT: After respawning, we were greeted by the welcome sight of a UH-1H over Elektro, which proceeded to mow down any, and everything with little care for ammunition consumption. They landed, carefree, in the middle of the town and a member unloaded who then killed me, you'd think that one would take a little more care of a helicopter in-game. Not the best behaviour from a clan.

really laggy, and unplayable, tried almost everything any help please?
Aftershok replied to Gabyy's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
There is one of your major problems, the 6150 SE is well below the recommended requirement of an 8800 GT How much RAM is your system currently running? You could try a few FPS configs and run on the lowest possible resolution but you won't be able to get high fps constantly. DayZ demands a lot more in terms of processor and RAM usage due to the amount of activity going on, you could try an overclock on the processor and GPU. -
{PAF} suspected hacking - US 1543

Much appreciated. -
{PAF} suspected hacking - US 1543
Aftershok replied to Aftershok's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The server logs would prove otherwise. BoomPow teleported in front of us with a hacked-in SUV, i can guarantee you it was not a desync issue and I insist you examine the server logs, considering we are not the only group who have had issues with BoomPow you should have a closer look at his activity. -

I would think that by saving the vehicle, it is being interacted with and so communicates with the server so it shouldn't despawn after 7 days. But to be sure i'd get in to the vehicle and turn the engine on and off every few days just to make sure, as saving isn't 100% reliable.

Macbook - Run DayZ Through Partition?
Aftershok replied to Kazu (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
GT 210: £18 = $28 Radeon 4550: £35 = $54 EVGA GeForce 8400 GS 512 MB: £18 = $28 Radeon 6450: £23 = $36 They are all of the prices BRAND NEW, so second hand should obviously be less. As for performance, looking at benchmarks you won't be able to get high constant fps, but it will be playable on low settings (just try and stay away from cherno/elektro, i get an fps dump on a 2.5gb 460GTX SE). Just ensure they have the same slot as your PC and you have enough power to run them and you should be fine! You could try going for one of the intermediary cards between those listed and the 8800 GT (i.e 9500 GT), although again this depends on your budget. Hope this helps -
Macbook - Run DayZ Through Partition?
Aftershok replied to Kazu (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Depending on your budget, you could look at upgrading to an 8800 GT; I used to run ArmA 2 a few years ago with the 8800 on a 375W PSU. The 8800 GT uses about 105 watts of power so check your consumption stats before buying it (methods can be found through a simple google) You can pick them up for relatively cheap on ebay, just ensure you have enough space and a PCI-E x16 slot on your motherboard and in your tower. Here is a comparison of the 8800 GT vs the GT 210 to give you an idea of the performance of the card. http://www.hwcompare.com/893/geforce-8800-gt-512mb-vs-geforce-gt-210/ -
This server is running an incorrect version of the server side application.
Aftershok replied to Pignoussi's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Found a possible fix on the forums A friend of mine had this yesterday, he had a corrupted DayZ .pbo file, so a fresh install of the mod may help. -
Try this; Run ArmA 2 Run ArmA 2 OA Then try running ArmA 2 : CO. CD keys can require activation by launching the game before they work properly. Also ensure you are running as admin.

Have you tried relogging on a different server, this should fix it following the newer updates? If you have a map place a marker on the map and run to it (shift-click on enabled servers). If you are on flat, rolling hills without trees run east for about 3km. If you are in the debug 'forest' area run SE for about an hour and you should reach the normal map again, otherwise you'll just have to run until you starve. There is a chance you are not in debug, and are simply in part of the map that is unnamed so try running around a bit if unsure, you may have just been moved a bit.

Macbook - Run DayZ Through Partition?
Aftershok replied to Kazu (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
What is your current GPU in your pc? Do a dxdiag if you're unsure and go to the 'Display' tab, also if possible could you provide your PSU wattage as you need to make sure there is enough power to handle the game. The graphics cards you have posted are ok, but you might want to spend a little more and get a better card for decent performance -
This game is going to shit if we dont do something soon

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/forum/14-survivor-hq/ Group up for protection, it improves the game a great deal. You have to remember that some people are just cruel. -
Macbook - Run DayZ Through Partition?
Aftershok replied to Kazu (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Unfortunately your GPU isn't powerful enough to handle ArmA 2, and unfortunately it doesn't have any equivalent to Oblivion's 'Oldblivion' mod allowing it to run on ancient machines. Your processor would also struggle a bit. You could try a GPU upgrade on your desktop, if you could post your other specs I'd take a look and see if it's worth it. Chances are, as your graphics are integrated you won't be able to upgrade as there won't be a spare slot, and the other components let you down a bit so there isn't really an option to play DayZ on your laptop. -
Windows XP is a solid platform for most games although it is dated, I've used Windows 7 64-bit for a few years and have never had any non-fixable issues, most newer games are easily compatible.

That all of the birds are actually players.

On steam, right-click on ArmA 2/OA and press 'Reinstall battleye client'. Otherwise go to www.battleye.com and download the newest version, then place it in your battleye folder within the ArmA 2 OA directory.

Lag Problem Tried everything
Aftershok replied to badpaint@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
What kind of lag are you experiencing; fps or latency? If its fps, could you post your system specs? -
problem after reinstalling everything
Aftershok replied to butterz (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Try this, seems like a possible fix. -
Considering it's still down, it may have been taken offline by the owners but all you can do is wait as I can't find anything relating to the server elsewhere on the forums. However, there are a large number of other UK servers available.

Try saving the tent more than once, sometimes it doesn't register properly. Sometimes servers are rolled back to earlier points so things on the server can sometimes revert to their previous states, although there are a few more problems with the newest patch which should be fixed soon. As for more vehicles/bikes and covers, take a look in the suggestions forum.

I use the same headset and everything is fine for me. Try turning down other volume settings in-game, increasing your volume and put the VOIP volume to full. Also, remember that the closer you get to people the louder they will be; so from far away they will be quiet.
