  1. I think there's a difference between "flashy nonsense" and "not mspaint".
  2. It has nothing to do with Alpha or Release because he claims that the GUI will never substantially improve.
  3. That isn't true, though. Others in this thread have complained and the same can be said for those on Reddit and even 4chan.
  4. They aren't separate entities. Programming a UI is only easier when you have orderly textures to work with. The same can be said for the inverse. But Rocket already confirmed that no designers will ever "sex it up". You're just shilling. Rocket's own words;
  5. No, I'm not. Deal Hall is.
  6. That's irreverent. The functionality is determined by the programming. The textures can still be used.
  7. Yeah, you're right. But at least it looks better than this. First of all; that's a lie and a double standard. You are devoting resources to making the game more sparkly by enhancing the map. Maybe you're simply not managing your resources properly. Now then, these screenshots of your GUI may be "work in progress", but you've admitted that they reflect the end product you're aiming for. On Reddit you said the font won't change and here you're saying they won't get much prettier. These screenshots are, of course, horrendous. As someone with experience programming with DirectX, I'd like to say that it's bogus to claim you can't use pretty photoshop work in a game engine and have complete functionality.
  8. That doesn't make sense. The people complaining are the same people who loved the ever so buggy and dysfunctional DayZ Mod.
  9. A pleasing interface is the cornerstone for any software. We have to look at it and interact with it for a large portion of the game. I think it's sad to know that WarZ can muster something better over night. It doesn't matter how hard you shill for this game; I'm not the only person complaining on this forum and there are even more complaining on reddit. It doesn't just look bad, it looks worse than something drawn in MSPaint.
  10. I'm a little late to the game; I hadn't read the first few pages of the thread to see Rocket's posts. I think the following quotes are very troubling. Here, I'll propose an inventory screen that looks infinitley better. Millions of people already like it. All you have to do is reprogram its functionality to support more mouse juggling.
  11. Right, that makes sense. If you think backwards it all makes sense. Now I understand why people are so happy with Dean Hall. Sorry; I'm a programmer B)
  12. There's a difference between something only the programmers should see and something being promoted on social networks. But that's wrong. They will; and there's a difference between 'somewhat ugly' and embarrassingly deplorable.
  13. Something not drawn in MSPaint. Keep in mind here, these are images that the lead developer is promoting. Just look above, or at other examples on reddit. Random people off the internet, who spend less than an hour, are making mock ups infinitely better. That's less than an hour of work from unqualified people. The bottom line is that most people who don't like what rocket is dishing out won't post here about it. They lose their interest and move on to something else. It doesn't matter how much fans on this forum try to discredit the voice of reason.
  14. Well, I was hoping that the lead developer of a multi million dollar franchise could promote an image on par with something a 4th grader could draw. They fell a bit short. Lol, okay.
  15. It's something that the lead developer is putting on display for everyone to see. It's not just a sneak preview for loyal fans; he's advertising the screenshots on twitter, reddit, etc. And it looks awful. No one asked for him to post this slop. If people like you continue to lap it up, though, then that's all you'll ever get from this company.
  16. It's still arial fonts & ms paint, no matter how much you try to deflect it B)
  17. I'd settle for a C title. This is shaping up to be an F title.
  18. Hey gummy! ;) I'm guessing you'll struggle to see the improvement because you've still got your head jammed firmly in your ass. A pleasure, as always. Oh look, it's that guy with 2k posts who auto responds to all negativity. You look completely legit!
  19. An ugly interface and a screenshot of ArmA 2. Awesome. Even with the best texturing in the world, I don't possibly see how that GUI could ever be considered an improvement.

Nice essay B) Still? I've made one comment on it. I think that they aren't delaying it enough. If you ask me, I think they're rushing it out the door the moment they finish programming movement.

That's a misrepresentation. I didn't know who made the Christmas comment, I said that I read it and that "if it's true". You're very determined to devalue anything I say. I can back this up by claiming that almost every post I've made, no matter what hour of day, has you commenting with ad hominem shortly after.

My argument is invalid? Never heard that one before. Why does it need to be defined? What I wanted to know is if it should be called 'ready' and something to be 'happy with', not if it could be. As a side note, I read a post saying that the game would be released in time for Christmas sales. If that's true, I'd like to say that I think hyping up a Christmas release for something that won't be finished yet is immoral.

Surely 'alpha' is not a 'ready' and something to be 'happy with' Neither did DayZ, though. Dean Hall has been employed by Bohemia since before DayZ and he was not the only person working on it.

I love how Bohemia Interactive is not above silencing unfavorable opinions.
