E3 Expo - June 2013 - Interviews and Gameplay
gummy52 replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I also agree that DayZ SA should have more, not less, weapons. Rocket is going in the wrong direction with limiting what's available. Civilians in the US / RUS are very heavily armed. That's not even considering the fact that there are MILITARY BASES in Chernarus. I think scavenging the remains of a lost war is plenty interesting and plausible. The reality is that we want to look badass. I don't want to be myself running around in the apocalypse. I want to be a badass running around in the apocalypse. That's why I also greatly prefer ArmA 2 's movement array. It's not only smoother but it's also more visually exciting to see ourselves moving tactically. -

It's a basic and core feature of the game. It's not something they should try programming into the game after many people are interacting with it. Keep in mind; this isn't a silly little feature. From the perspective of a programmer it's much more involved than anything else they've been doing. The risk for issues will only rise if they choose this path. It's been a year, though, so I doubt Rocket has much choice but to release without them. I personally think the game would be dull without them. That's what I personally believe. What's not a belief is that it will be a shit show if they try to patch them in. Keep in mind, they don't have many programmers assigned to DayZ SA. I recall reading somewhere that it's just one guy and I doubt he's a prodigy who will defy the odds. -

Sure. I have for a number of games. In fact, my previous post is relevant. -

Look at Minecraft. People loved alpha videos of Minecraft and it excited more people into buying it. That doesn't apply here. In fact this is very much the opposite. If you have to say "its just an alpha" then you're admitting that the alpha doesn't look good. With every new video less people tune in and more voice concern. http://i.imgur.com/YfI7Eht.png -

Another comment I'd like to make about the inventory; it's functionality is not well thought out at all. Every time you want to pick up an item you have to drag it all the way across your entire screen. Back and forth every time. -

Why am I not surprised that a member of DayZ Forum Team would opt to troll. Contrary to popular belief, humans can not pivot directions instantaneously. I thought the point of the game was to feel realistic? I'll say it again; the movement and animations feel completely dysfunctional just watching them. -

Is that a joke? I'm asking earnestly because I can't tell. -

I really do not like the new movement at all. It has less momentum and it twitches often. I don't like the counter-strike cross-hair or the cheap attempt to make the gun-play more like it, either. This looks more like WarZ than it does DayZ, and that's awful. -

I don't understand how a server dependent game is played without credentials. Is it not actually server dependent? -

I see, then. His post made it sound like a preexisting issue before DayZ. -

It's not constructive; but it's not trolling, either. It's a negative comment completely the inverse of "looks great!". -

Right, but I think (hope) you'll agree my posts have been constructive. As others have pointed out; some people simply want to defend Rocket blindly. If you want to ban me for saying what needs to be said then that's your call. -

First of all; I have offered suggestions. As you're doing now; sometimes it doesn't make sense for every post in this thread to be a list of suggestions. Also, why do I have to hate DayZ to criticize the Standalone? Obviously I've played and enjoyed the mod. Like others, I want the game to succeed. I think praising everything we get is the worst possible way to do it. They don't need encouragement, they need a reality check. At this rate they're going to get it once its too late. -

Yeah, okay. I'd like to know how this is not considered trolling, DemonGroover. -

Not a single comment I've made can be sanely considered a "troll response". Several of my posts have been liked and qualified by other posters. I see no reason why I should take my comments elsewhere, either. They are all completely on topic. That's completely childish behavior on your part. Comments like the above, however, are in fact a "troll response", made by the individuals you've decided to side with. You specially requested that I "prove" I'm not trolling, so you can go ahead and compare the above comment to mine below. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/137630-no-devblog-this-week-but-here-is-some-screens/page__st__460#entry1350633 -

Yeah, it doesn't have a central server. It didn't double in quality, either. -

So many disillusioned people think its possible to drastically improve (double, triple in quality) software once many users are interacting with it. -

That's a misrepresentation. Apparently it's more than a temporary place holder. Granted, Rocket said things such as the pure Red/Green buttons will change, but others, such as the font, won't. However, he has defended the way it looks here and on reddit/twitter as well. -

If you want to debate his syntax, I could easily point out that he literally said the interface won't make itself prettier. That isn't what he meant. Rocket has made it very clear on here, and in his posts on Reddit, that the GUI will not drastically improve. He did not say it will improve in time, he clearly went on to defend why the interface does not need to be pretty. -

Textures are images. They can't not be compatible. Again, aside from the shills on this forum, these screenshots are universally disliked. Yes, he did. If you want to debate syntax then we may as well throw the entire sentence out because it's technically nonsensical. You're taking the meaning out of context of the post. It's perfectly clear from the subsequent paragraphs that Rocket is saying that the GUI will not substantially improve. -
