Cannot update beta patch + another problem.
forfoon replied to forfoon's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Nvm I'll probably just wait until standalone. Not worth it. -
After a period of about 8 months or so of not playing DayZ, I decided to download the latest patches etc and test out the new breaking point mod everyone is into nowadays and see if i would still get wrecked by artifacts etc... So after installing everything correctly and after trying to enter a normal DayZ mod server, I become stuck in the old "tank loading screen" rather than the DayZ specific screen I remember. Then I end up stuck at "waiting for character to create" with a non-moving loading bar. After trying to enter a breaking point server, I received the simple error: "you cannot play/edit this mission. it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted" then it lists a lot of gun and item files. I followed the best guides on how to install breakingpoint and I figure all of the other issues I'm having have led up to this error. Another issue: My DayZ Commander only says that the latest patch is 103718, while the online beta patch lists 108074. When i try to install this latest patch from a browser, I run it and then i get an "invalid CD key error". But here's the thing... I've followed FORUM MODERATOR guides, including these actions: running Steam as an ADMIN, reinstalling both Arma 2, and Arma 2 OA, making sure I have the correct expansions selected under OA, and running each individually. In the end, I receive the same error and probably end up worse off with fragmented files etc. Aside from all of these issues, I have done all of the little things such as setting the correct Target for the OA.exe file, etc.. I know that I have a lot of stupid problems but hopefully someone can help.

I just had a thought... it could conflict with the backstory of DayZ but what about an infection that completely takes over only during death (not through scratches and obviously not through the airborne strand). (If that video was telling me that my suggestion was retarded, then I don't understand why you were that mean)
-
Agreed. Good work solving this one, team.

The zombie aspect was sort of a placeholder because I haven't read up on DayZ lore and how the apocalypse started etc... so its the idea that should be looked at, I guess. But thanks (though I didn't understand what you meant by the last few words).

I saw that in the devblog Pax East event, a fan asked if a player could turn into a zombie after death. This player would still maintain the items that he or she wore while alive alive etc... so other players could kill the "zombie" for the loot. After hearing this, I had this idea: maybe the player would turn into a zombie but would then lose all of the loot that the player originally had. This could create some unique situations such as: lets say two friends are hiding in a house after being hunted by zombies or players or whomever.. and one of the players dies to illness or bleeding or infection… then while the friend that is still alive is thinking over his or her next move, the dead friend could come alive again as a zombie. This would create a more intense situation for the player left alive… should he or she shoot and give away his or her position, further cornering them within the house? Even hacking the zombie down with an axe would create at least some noise and commotion. This could add a very unique aspect to the game. Maybe even in cities such as cherno or elektro, players killed by zombies could eventually increase the size of the horde within the city, creating a major problem. This could lead to alliances, though likely temporary and also risky, as we all know there are those who become famous on servers for backstabbing behavior etc... which in turn adds an extra level of excitement for those who wish to hunt down the notorious individual(s). This whole idea, to me, would add another feature to DayZ that would add to its immersive nature and intensity.. DayZ is so fun because of all of these crazy aspects of the game that make it so nerve-wracking. These ideas might seem to be randomly said but it only makes sense... once you think of a good idea for DayZ, you begin to realize how many situations a player could be in in which this one idea would greatly effect their experience.

^That sounds like a good idea And there could be a toggle-able visual blood-number or whatever under the interface options.
-
Well it's not like when you are hungry and thirsty (we can say, for this example, that the person is well fed) your body just simply doesn't make blood. I figure its a legitimate idea. But I guess you could say it makes the game more interesting to "feel" your blood levels.. FOR EXAMPLE: I was just in a firehouse bleeding out unconscious.. and woke up with blinking blood levels. I had no idea if i was going to be able to live through bandaging myself or not..
-
Doesn't it make sense? Humans naturally create blood all of the time. I figure some number could be figured out like 10 every 5 seconds or something small... It will also to provide some sort of help to those who wander for long distances with low blood levels.. passing out every once in a while.) (I also would appreciate bringing back the blood level on the UI in game. By this I mean the 12,000 maximum blood that each person starts with that was shown before debug was removed) --CJ

Updated servers wont load the world!
forfoon replied to Narktor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I guess just revert to 1.7.2.4 :) -
I think that's what I do :o. I don't patch with Six Updater. I manually swap files etc...
-
Yeah I do, I figure it's just some sort of file I don't have matching up with server's --- I've updated my beta-patch and DayZ version recently to 95883 and 1.7.2.5 and the same few servers that I've been trying (the ones that have also updated to 1.7.2.5) still don't load, if that is even the issue here. I still think it goes deeper than just trying new servers :o
-
Thanks boss (hopefully a programmer or someone thats knows anything about this will be able to tell me what is wrong with the server / any files i have in my folders)

Hi, I've been playing DayZ for a little over one week now. Up until now I haven't really cared about not being able to join certain servers (specifically the high population servers). Now, since I've finally been able to acquire end-game items, I've been trying to get into servers with 30+ people. For the majority, I get stuck in loading forever. I figure it would just take like 20 minutes or so because of the amount of players on the server, but now I dont believe that that's the case. Off the top of my head I can think of the "717 Fat Farm" server and plenty of Seattle servers. These servers peak at over 50 or so players sometimes and I simply cant connect to them (I know it's basically suicide going into these servers haha). edit: version + beta patch is up to date (though i was allowed to join a 1.7.2.4 game with version 1.7.2.5, weird)

Too bad almost every solution, if not all solutions, make the artifacts spread and make them more dense. MAYBE the windowed to full screen works. I actually found that V sync is the worst solution to the problem (amplifies the artifacts the most)
