Oh I missed the part where you put the certain amount of hours for skills, completely agree. As far is with the steady aim, to modify it a bit, make it so that when you're out of breath you're aim is not steady. Now if you're in shape, you can catch you're breath quicker, slow you're breathing and get your aim steadier to get off an accurate shot. I also enjoy running a lot and I think this would be a realistic way to implement it in game. Yes please do and I'd love a bit of credit, sure. I mean we're all here to try and help and mold the game into something great. More minds, means more viewpoints and better ideas. Little by little we can perfect ideas. About the whole blood thing, yes I don't believe a single blood bag should completely restore your blood count. Should take multiple bags depending on your blood count. Now if you're skilled in it maybe you waste less blood during the transfusion and you can also carry out the process quicker. I also believe that blood should SLOWLY regenerate as it would in real life. Very slowly and in an amount of time that best mirrors how it does in real life. Eating and staying nourished will speed the blood regeneration SLIGHTLY. I guess my whole point in this is subtly and moderation. Many ideas I read are good as long as it's subtle and not too extreme.

    Seperate Profiles?

I agree with the others. One profile and that is it. More profiles is going to do more harm then you realize. You may have good intentions in using it but just think, not everyone wants to use it like you. There will be more consequences then I care to list. So in simple no thank you.

What kind of zombies should be in DayZ

To add to the variety their body type and clothes should also vary. Depending on their body type, their speed and strength would vary. It only makes sense that even though they are infected and enraged/aggressive that their body type would have some type of bearing on how hard they can attack you and how long/fast they can run. Even if you decided against differentiation in their strength and running capabilities, the variety on zombies would make the game more immersive. Above all I think there should be an X% chance of being infected with all that goes along with that as I mentioned in the OP. Whether the undead or the infected route is chosen, this feature can be implemented to either type.

No skill should be easily obtainable. There needs to be precautionary measures taken to stop people from spamming an action at the beginning of their character to get all the skills. You also have to be careful with certain skills to make sure people aren't getting a huge PvP advantage. I don't like the extra blood and the inability to get your bones broken/a concussion. It's just unrealistic. I love the fitness. I hate the way you can just run forever currently. However I don't like the steady aim it gives you. I don't see the correlation. To add to your point about fitness. The requirements should be running an X amount of distance in X amount of days. meaning it'll take a few days of you consistently running to slowly get your fitness up. You can't just run all day and get fit. Being that its a game and our characters technically don't have to sleep, a time span must be incorporated to stop people from running around a tree in circles until they are fit. There also needs to be a way for you to become unfit if you don't continue running consistently. Extra slots for items is already being taken care of believe. Besides being able to find bigger packs I believe they are also doing clothes that you can find and stuff with more item spaces. Bandaging blood gives you more blood? bandaging a gun silences it? This is the wrong game for this type of stuff. It's unrealistic. This is suppose to be and realistic zombie survival game and this just has no place here. Not trying to be an asshole or anything but it just doesn't work. I do like the idea of gaining certain skills by completing certain actions but not this way. Example: Bandaging and giving blood bags X amount of time makes you more effective and efficient at the process. Slightly more blood is given during transfusions and one bandage stops blood loss more often. The process of doing these action would also be quicker then a survivor who doesn't do it as much and isn't as trained. Another example would be hunting. After gutting animals X amount of times you're able to more efficiently use the animal. maybe the survivor is able to harvest an extra piece of meat or two. They may be even able to utilize other parts of the animal. If Rocket does indeed put in weapon degradation then this can be used to implement your gun skill without giving PvP advantage. After should a weapon X amount of time, he now knows how to better take care of his weapons and they while degrade X% slower. Nothing crazy but it will be better. i think you see where I'm going with this. Skills should be realistic and not give PvP advantages but survival advantages. Nothing crazy though. This will also encourage team play because if you're really good at something, you'd be an asset to have around. gaining these skills should be difficult and as I mentioned before, precautionary measures need to be taken to stop people from spamming actions. Maybe only X amount of skills can be learned in X amount of time. the time would be quite lengthy.

Give Current Dayz Players Free Game Keys On Release

Not to mention they're devoloping the standalone still. He said he plans to get the MOD into a stable state. So if you want to play DayZ but don't feel you should pay for it then keep playing the MOD. You don't have to buy nor play the stand alone.

Give Current Dayz Players Free Game Keys On Release

I know exactly what it means, I'm far more eduacated then you probably realize. However, you just sound bitter because you have to buy a new game which will probably be $10 or less for early adopters. Do you realize it's going to cost money to develop this game? So he's suppose to give you a free game because you bought another game for a free MOD? Where's the money coming from to pay for the stand alone? No money means a longer wait for it, a watered down game due to under staffing, or they make the game more mainstream and less hardcore to bring in more players and money. Not trying to be an asshole but look at the big picture and the consequences. Good if he's getting transfarred money, he put a bunch of work into it himself and drove ARMA II sales up. He's already supposedly offering a hefty discount for early adopters when the DayZ alpha is released (which means you get the finished game once it's done as well). Be happy he isn't just releasing the full version for full price. Not to mention you should be happy that he's designing according to the minecraft plan and listening to your input as far as what is in the game. What developer have you seen do that? Cool story is the same as "you mad bro?" So I don't get the point you are trying to make. Every statement probably has some correlation to another statement. And believe me, I'm not in any way angry but I do think someone who puts the work in should reap the benefits. Look at the facts. You bought a game that other developers made. Then you downloaded a free MOD that Rocket made. You didn't pay for DayZ yet. Would it be nice if we got something for being the early "early adopters". Yes, that would be great but not paying for the game? That I don't agree with. Maybe if we can be compensated in another way that has nothing to do with money, that would be great. But fund the game, money is going to give the resources for a quality, hardcore game.

Give Current Dayz Players Free Game Keys On Release

I'm tired of hearing this, you bought ARMA II and played a FREE MOD. So now Rocket's going standalone and he'll actually see money from a project he worked so hard on and you don't want to pay? Shutup and stop being cheap. You are not entitled to a free game because you bought ARMA II and downloaded a free mod. You never actually payed for DayZ.

    Slender Man

If anything there should be a rare special infected zombie on the server. Not necessarily that unrealistic boss like resident evil zombie, but something out of the ordinary. Something that has you fearing for your life yet you're unsure what you're even running from because you're afraid you'll die if you even try to get a good look at it. Whether it's deep within the woods that you have a rare chance to encounter or only comes out at night we should not know what it is. It should be much deadlier than your average zombie and it could maybe be changed periodically by rocket and the designers. It wouldn't take much work to put out new patches every couple of weeks or so with a new looking special infected. Even mistakenly running into a mob of zombies you arent expecting would scare you. I don't know about you but as much as I want to survive in the game, I wouldn't mind meeting up with a few friends in the middle of the night and trying to find this new special infected they put in. Go on a little hunting trip not knowing exactly what you're looking for but knowing it's out there and putting your life on the line. And getting that "oh shit feeling what is that" when you see it. And if its the middle of the night and you can hardly even see it. even better.

    Make Dayz Scary Again.

There should be a rare special infected zombie on the server. Not necessarily that unrealistic boss like resident evil zombie, but something out of the ordinary. And if its the middle of the night and you can hardly even see it. even better. I think even putting a bear and other deadly animals in the game would scare the crap out of you. the thing you have to do it make it completely random and make you wonder if you're going to live passed it. That's what needs to be achieved. That is exactly the feeling people talk about when they encounter players. You have no idea how it's going to turn out. Currently zombies don't exhibit that same threat. I definitely wish Rocket would go with the undead zombie. It has so much more depth and room for creativity with features.

    Party/ Buddy System

Problem is if you don't implement any feature AT ALL to tell players apart (name over head or clothes to differentiate) any player can sneak in your group if you look alike and it would take a second to figure out which player isn't someone you know. In real life, you can spot a stranger instantly. I personally am not a fan of having names over the head in a game as realistic as this one but there should be a lot of clothes and or face options that allow me to differentiate friends from strangers. If some kind of more visual friendly system HAD TO be incorporated I would COMPROMISE if a sort of "facial recognition" was implemented. It would work like this. -A small prompt on the screen would tell you whether you've seen this player before on the server. Maybe you had their face in your scope or binocs at a earlier time or you actually ran into them. (You would not recognize people from other characters that you died with, this would reset with each character) -When meeting certain players you can choose to share your name and or some info as if you're friends so from now on, when you see this player, a small prompt with the players name would pop up but disappear within a few seconds. But again, my vote goes to more apparel options and face customization and maybe body customization. Nothing crazy but just for some differentiation between players. It's the most realistic ways of handling a friendly system.
  11. Players Can Contract Virus From Zombies & Need Antibiotics To Stop Infection I'd like to see zombies be able to infect you. Whenever you're attacked by a zombie you have an X% chance of being infected. From here on you're temperature will slowly rise as the virus progresses and your fever continues to increase. This will give you X amount of time to find antibiotics before you turn. When antibiotics are administered it would stop the infection but if you contract it again from another attack, same process. Your team mates will have to make a decision as to how long they wait to put a bullet in your head as if you turn without notice, they risk also being attacked and infected. Infected Players That Aren't Administered Antibiotics Will Have Their Character Turn Into An Infected Zombie NPC Which brings me to my next feature. Players that are infected by the virus will turn into reanimated zombie NPCs if they are not treated within a certain period of time or shot in the head. This will add to the game by giving team mates a decision to make as far as, how long do they search for antibiotics before they shoot an infected teammate in the head for their own safety. Or do you give them your antibiotics when you may need it later. This adds more realism and more decisions that will allow you to really become engaged with the game. It adds to the story you and you're friends are creating. When the infected player turns and becomes a reanimated zombie NPC, he will act as regular zombie and attack anyone near him. This could be a bad situation as he will turn without warning. Adds A Realistic Way Of Spawning New Zombies Not only will it add that extra element but it also gives a realistic way of spawning zombies. Being that zombies are expected to be a much higher threat in the standalone, player deaths by zombies should be more common and would be a great way of keeping the zombie number up while spawning them realistically. Plus if zombies are killing many players in an area, this is probably a hotspot and there should be a greater number of zombies in the area. Running Into Your Old Character or Friends'/Teammates' Character As A Zombie On Same Server It would be cool to go back to a server and run into one of your old characters and or teammates'/friends' characters that is now lurking the server as a zombie. With more character customization, you would easily recognize the character who is now an Infected NPC.

To Put It Bluntly- DayZ Is Too Easy

I would tweak some easy things to make zombies more difficult whether it's for the standalone or mod. 1) You shouldn't be able to sprint forever. Knowing you can't simply run away would make you much more cautious around zombies. 2) Zombies should travel more as a pack, alert one and every zombie within the small vicinity would be alerted. Shoot a gun and every zombie in earshot will be drawn to the location of the gun shot. This combined with having a realistic amount of time before you are out of breath and can't sprint will make zombies that much more of a threat. Plus increase the zombie count. I also would definitely do a one hit kill to the head however body shots would take multiple hits. I don't know about the knockdown thing as it could be a very glitchy action. Could lead to many moments of "he barely touched me or how do they knock me down so easily and consistently". Not to mention you should be able to shake some tackles off. Want to make close quarter interaction dangerous? Make the virus transmissible. Everytime you are attacked by a zombie there is an X% chance for you to be infected. From here you now have a certain amount of time to find antibiotics before the virus takes over and your body turns into a reanimated zombie NPC.

What kind of zombies should be in DayZ

Another point, yeah currently you can easily run away, but I expect Rocket to make sprinting more realistic and not allow you to sprint forever. In this case, zombies of any kind would be harder to just get away from and it would make vehicles that much more precious. Not to mention you'd be ALOT more careful around zombies if you knew you couldn't just sprint forever.

What kind of zombies should be in DayZ

They don't have to all be slow. Like I said, based on decomposition of their body, some would be just as fast as humans. It just depends on how long they have been a zombie. As mentioned above, gun shots and such should bring zombies in from all directions within a certain radius of the gun shot or loud sound.

Dayz. Why is it so buggy?

He did make BIG changes to the game itself in many aspects. He's modded an OLD game to an extent most games don't get modded to. When you start changing things bugs arise. Now when you fix one bug, another bug pops up and so on and so forth. Reason being is he can't touch the source code. It's like putting bandaids ona broken toy, it's still broken. Maybe I can partially agree with you that possibly he doesn't put his full focus into fixing bugs but he's not trying to polish a game at this point. He's messing around with features and stuff trying to see what works.
  16. Lights Out

Dayz. Why is it so buggy?

    1) It's in alpha, you know what alpha is right? 2) This is a mod you're playing, it's much harder to make a game when you can't touch the source code. Leaps and bounds of improvement will be made when the ALPHA version of the STANDALONE is released. It will still be buggy but thats the reason for an alpha. To find the bugs and to also add features and see what works. I wish people would understand this and stop asking.

    Training over time (Character skilling)

I don't mind so much the skill increases but one I don't think you should choose where to add skill points nor should they give you any type of PvP advantage. They should be small things such as being able to harvest more meat from gutting animals after doing it X amount of times or being able to give medical attention more efficiently/effectively after bandaging and giving blood bags to X amount of people. These things are slight however they give you something to work for which will also help you survive. It also promotes team play as having a person that is good with a particular survival element would be an asset. It gives players worth rather then just the worth of what's in their pack.

    Party/ Buddy System

Yea it could work but after a certain distance those name should disapear regardless because you wouldn't recognize someone after a certain distance. Maybe in order to "rerecognize them" you have to look at them for a second or so at a certain distance. Facial recognition has been talked about within the forums so in a way, you're character can recall players they know or have seen around. This whole friendly thing can be easily helped in a realistic way by allowing customizable clothes. You'd recognize the clothes and overall look you're friends' characters.

More Secure/Permanent Means of Item Storage

This is such a tricky gameplay add on and the reason is, yes you want to keep a stash so you can store weapons and stuff you can't carry for later. But when you die, you shouldn't know nor have any idea where it is as you are starting a new character.

What kind of zombies should be in DayZ

I've always liked the traditional undead zombies. I also feel they give you the most room for creativity. Not to mention a type of zombie that is known for taking multiple bullets unless shot in the head would definitely make them a higher threat within the game. I want to fear zombies just as much as players if not more.
