  1. Possible, but I doubt it. Normally with a game, it just gets downsized. You'd have to re-do EVERYTHING in order to make it fun if it went singleplayer. Player on player interaction is basically what this game is about. Playing alone would get boring quick. They'd have to add a story, quests, this and that. At that point, might as well just develop a new game because it's no longer Day Z..
  2. I don't remember where I read it, but I know it was in an interview or something. Rocket said he was interested in developing Day Z for the console. However he also said that he wanted it fully developed and coded for PC first as it was intended. Probably because of the restrictions consoles have due to their hardware. He doesn't want to have to compromise his vision of the game. So yes, after Day Z is finished for PC, consoles may have a chance at a port. However, consoles are extremely limited and be prepared for a watered down game. Look at BF3, it's a great game but it was watered down for console. And the experience between the small console matches and the large PC matches are extremely different. The servers and the console hardware just have trouble handling multiplayer games with massive maps. Especially sandbox ones. As far as WiiU, I really don't think it will be able to handle it but only time will tell. So in short, Yes he's interested in porting it to the console after the PC version is done. However, don't expect it to stack up to the PC version in graphics, size, nor feature wise.

    Loot spot

You are correct. Rocket has said numerous times that upon the initial release of the Day Z Standalone Alpha, their main concerns are having most of the bugs taken care of and the main features working properly. Then they will get creative.

    Players as Zombies?

Only being able to wonder and the actual fun part, killing/attacking, being an "auto pilot" feature would definitely take away any fun factor. Solves the problem but completely guts the feature itself. The idea isn't bad by any means, it's been successfully implemented by L4D which I love. Aside from that though, I just don't think it fits in Day-Z. I just don't feel player controlled Zeds fit in a game of this sort. The only way I see it working is if the players turned into a reanimated Zed NPC when the virus took over. At that point it's game over for you, but not necessarily for your group if they aren't keeping tabs on your condition or if you even told them you may be infected. You'd turn within seconds without notice, instantly aggro, and attack the group.

    Players as Zombies?

No for two reasons. 1) People would abuse this and try to attack fresh spawns and such. 2) People can't accurately portray a zombie/an infected. They are suppose to be mindlessly aggressive and only have a desire to feed. Human controlled Zeds would greatly take away from that. Some like the idea completely, I only like it partially. I wrote another thread in which I agreed with having an X% chance of becoming infected and having a varying X amount of time to get antibiotics before the virus takes over. I feel having that chance of being infected and turning adds a whole new amount of depth to the game, especially in group settings. However when you turn, I think you should become a reanimated ZED NPC (non-player character). Check out the thread. Let me know what you think. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/69405-dead-players-turning-to-zombies/#entry662756

possibility of seeing WHO killed you

I don't like it, You're dead, how are you going to know? When making a new character it's a new life. You shouldn't go in knowing who killed you in a past one. If this was put in the MOD to help with the hackers, okay. However it is going to have ZERO place in the standalone.
  7. Did a quick search but didn't see anything. This is a rather simple suggestion so I'll keep it short. It's more of a suggestion for aesthetics rather than a feature. I never liked loot piles being all over the floor in one spot of buildings. I know this was definitely a restriction of the MOD so I'd suggest something a little different for the standalone. If you make objects actionable, maybe put loot piles in more realistic areas. If it was a hospital they'd be in the cabinets and such, shelves. If it's in a home, food may be in a cabinet/fridge while a gun may be in a closet/gun cabinet/trunk. I think you get the gist of what I'm saying. If it's loot specific to the area, have it spawn in realistic parts of the house/building so you actually have to look around. The way loot piles look currently should only be for loot that players drop.

    Loot in the DayZ Standalone

I would definitely love and prefer loot to be just like fall out. You would physically open cabinets, drawers, storage containers, etc. etc. and actually see the equipment within it instead of a separate screen popping up. You then put your cross hairs over it and press the action button to pick it up. Loot could be in a plethora of places, both in plain site and hidden so you really have to look and scan the buildings. If this route wasn't taken, I would at least want a skyrim-esque loot style. Loot would still be within various places but you would have engage the actionable storage container and your standard item screen would pop up showing what you have and what you can pick up. Regardless, I feel items need to be in their proper spots or at least put away with some random stuff on counters/tables maybe. Not just have loot laying in the middle of the room. I much rather the fallout way but I'd be happy with either.

    Loot in the DayZ Standalone

Yes, that's exactly what I'm going for. I want to bring that tension and fear into more parts of the game, maybe increase it. As you described it, that is exactly what this would do. I want you to go into buildings and constantly question if you have checked every place, as you probably would in real life when scavenging for supplies. Constantly wonder if you're taking too much time and if someone is watching you, wondering if someone will walk in on you.

    different zombies :D

I'm not sure if I like the idea but it's alright. It would have to be realistic though. No l4d or resident evil zombies. To implement this I would have them have different bodytypes. -Your base everyday zombie would be as is. -Maybe an infected zombie that's smaller in appearance would be faster and have more stamina. -Zombies with a bigger body frame would be stronger though. Things like this would probably work without breaking the core way DayZ infected are. Not HUGE variations in thier characteristics, keep it simple and realistic. Just to get some variation i the infected NPC. Obviously have more skins and throw different randomly generated clothes based off different professions and mostly civilian type clothes. Again though, I'm fine with one infected type with just different skins and clothing but being that it's in alpha, I wouldn't mind testing out a feature like this. Obviously that is what alpha is for which I think people tend to forget. They just shoot ideas down instead really reading them and then just altering them where they see fit. No OP idea is done but a concept idea. It's so the rest of the community can give their input and further the idea. I just want Rocket to get the standalone out to the public in alpha and I'll test out any and every feature Rocket thinks might work.

Make Death a Loss, Re: Tents, Inventory

This is definitely something that needs to be done. I like the OP's idea better than not being able to go on the server for X amount of time. If I wanted to meet up with friends I was playing with, I wouldn't want to server hop any time anyone permadeaths. Especially if it's a certain server I enjoy playing on. Beans for the OP

    Hallucinations

It's been suggested. http://dayzmod.com/f...ving-delusions/ I still like it in theory. Concept is very fun and could really suck you into the game. Hallucinations have to be very slight though. Seeing a huge building in a game will become too obvious that it isn't real once one is familiar with the map. -Something slight like seeing players/zombies/animals in the distance/peripheral. -Hearing footsteps/gunshots in the distance/zombie groans. Stuff like this could work. Would definitely have to be tested and played around with.

    GETTING. INFECTED.

I don't think it should affect your blood as the virus isn't doing anything to your blood count. Remember that number is not hp, its the amount of blood in your body. As I mentioned in my post, your only tool to gauge roughly how far along you are is your body temperature as your fever spikes. However there would be no set time of how long you have until the virus takes over, it would vary. Maybe dependent on your overall health (if you already had a regular infection, are sick (have a cold), low blood count, dehydrated, malnourished etc. etc.). This will make other decisions come into play. How long does your group wait until they kill you for their safety? Do they give up antibiotics they have if they may need it later? Do you tell your group your sick even though they might kill you? You see a group member get attacked, they say they arent infected but are they lying? Your going to turn within a second without notice when you hit that certain point. After this there is no way to warn anyone and they can get injured and contract the virus from you reanimated player Zed NPC. This adds a lot more depth to the game. I mentioned all this stuff in depth in my thread.

    GETTING. INFECTED.

By the way, not trying to thread jack but I've suggested this before. I went a little more in depth of how this virus contraction would work and talked about the elements that would be added to the game with this feature. Check it out. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/69405-dead-players-turning-to-zombies/#entry662756 cheers though, I agree with the idea, minus the whole incurable thing.
  15. Lights Out

    GETTING. INFECTED.

As I mentioned, players can't accurately portray zombie behavior. They are mindless aggressive beings that only want to attack you and eat flesh. They don't coordinate plans, ambush you, wait for you, none of that. Players would take away from this. Not to mention all the people who are going to abuse the zombies by flocking to spawn points, attacking new spawns, hiding in buildings around corners, covering loot piles. It just won't work.
  16. Lights Out

    GETTING. INFECTED.

    1) As far as not getting infected/being immune, well the thing is viruses always mutate and different strands of the virus are created. I don't know how long someone can stay immune. 2) Antibiotics should cure it from a gameplay standpoint. As far as hiding your gear and finding it with your next character, I hope they find a way to get rid of this. When you die, you die, it's permadeath and it should suck when you die. Meaning you lose EVERYTHING and have to scavenge yet again. You should NOT be able to come back and get it. Plus it would suck if EVERY time you got attacked you were infected and that was the end of it, it was only a question of time. You should have X% chance to contract the virus and from there you have X amount of time to get antibiotics before you turn. 3) As far as reanimation being off the table, no it is NOT, think about. When you're fever gets to a certain point and the virus begins to really take over, you'd just instantly turn into one of the ZEDs. You'd basically be an aggressive being driven to mindless behavior by the virus and fever. A reanimated ZED NPC, not player controlled of course. 4) For the person who mentioned surviving as a zombie, NO! haha Please no. The point of these zombie is mindless aggressive players. Players cannot accurately portray this behavior. Not to mention people would abuse this and attack all newbies by the coast, hide in houses for ambushes, stand over loot piles, etc. etc.

Lock sniper rifles in first person?

I don't think third person has any place in this game at any moment. As mentioned it's not realistic. You should only have your view as you would see it through your eyes. I hate how people use it when sniping as mentioned above and hiding behind walls/objects and looking around the corner in third person to see whats going on. If you want to look, you should have to take the chance of leaning and peaking out.
  18. Lights Out

    A static skill system.

Which I think is key. Ideas need to be tested so the best possible game can be made. The worst that happens is it doesn't work and it's removed in the next patch of the standalone. I still think something along the lines of this need to be implemented to put more worth in a character. Make them more of an asset in team settings.
  19. Love it. Would like to see hunting become tougher and more realistic. It's a viable method for getting food but shouldn't be easy. (Anyone who has went hunting knows this) It will definitely add to the depth of the game and give you more to do. Tracking a bear by mistake could and should possibly prove deadly for you and your group if you're with one.
  20. Lights Out

    A static skill system.

The way I see skills being implemented is every one has the base ability to do every task, but skills allow you to become better and efficient at certain things. Maybe someone with a skill can fix certain engine parts instead of having to find a new working one. Maybe someone proficient in medical tasks can heal/bandage/transfuse blood more proficiently and efficiently. Someone without it may not be able to stop bleeds right away with a single bandage. May take another bandage or just a little extra time for the wound to clot. Or possibly when giving blood transfusions they may spill some blood so you don't get as much blood as you could have. Things like this. Implementing skills as I have suggested won't punish a "lone wolf" but make it a little more difficult to survive and carry out certain tasks as it should be. Doing everything alone in a post apocolyptic world should be more difficult for someone trying to survive by themselves. When you group up with multiple players with varying skill sets, surviving should still not be easy, but rather more manageable.
  21. Lights Out

    A static skill system.

Which is what exasperates the player killing problem there is now. I can just kill you and take your pack, problem solved. Now if I actually had to team up with you because you're skilled at special task, well that adds an element to the game. Don't put a player's worth in their pack, put it in their character themselves. I don't think you should be handed a skill though. Should have to work for it somehow. Doing X things X amount of times. To stop people spamming a task. It should also take X amount of in game days. Should only be allowed to learn one, two skills max. And like I always say, no skills that give PvP advantages. Only survival skills and nothing crazy.

RE: Rocket announcement of new feature at PAX

Lmaooo alright see, I thought you were serious. When you talked about calororic deficit and losing weight/becoming weaker. :) The excess calorie intake or adequate intake would help you maintain weight and stay energized. :D This would mean you don't unrealistically die so quickly from hunger. Then you talked about squating and deadlifts in industrial areas.. >:( <_< I just got trolled.

    Hunting; a revamp

I'd love to see more of a variety of animals in the standalone. Maybe some dangerous animals? I'd love to see bears above all. They'd be a high risk, high reward hunt.
  24. I have this idea in a thread however I'd like to post it here as well being that this is the official standalone suggestion thread. I'd love to see this virus be contagious through attacks by the infected/zombies. Say you have an X% chance of contracting the virus during attacks by the infected. If infected, you would have X amount of time to get antibiotics to stop the virus. The body temperature mechanic can be put to use here. As the virus takes over, you get a fever and your body temperature increases. Maybe some visuals? Dizzyness? Blurred vision? Time until the virus takes over varies a bit so you don't know when you'll turn. Just an idea. Finally without notice you get a "you died" screen pop up. However it's not over for your group. Your body now turned into a reanimated infected NPC and without notice. Did you even tell your friends that you were running a fever and might be infected? You're reanimated infected body will attack them without notice. They may now also be infected. Do you trust a group member if he says he hasnt been infected after an attack from an infected or cast him out from the group? Would you tell your group you're infected? They may shoot you in the head for their own safety. Then you lose everything you've worked for with your character. You could suggest looting a hospital "for fun" hoping you'll find antibiotics and avoid the whole situation. They may find your request suspicious though. This will give your team an extra decision to make. A decision that really drags you into the game. you're making a decision that matters. If you know someones contracted the virus, how long do you wait and scavenge for antibiotics until you put a bullet in their head for your own safety. Maybe you have antibiotics. However you may need them later if you get the virus. Do you give your only bottle of antibiotics up? You just got attacked by a bunch of zombies, is someone infected and not telling you. This adds so much more depth to the game.
  25. Original Concept: Not really going to add anything to game play but if Rocket gave the ability to customize your player in the game, it would be cool if your character became a zombie in that server if/when you die. I don't mean that the player would become a zombie but so that your player now roams the server as an A.I. controlled zombie.Would kind of be cool to come across one of your old characters in the game as a zombie. That would add to the realism. 9/8/2012 update: Feature refinements and explaining the depth this will add: I'd love to see this virus be contagious through attacks by the infected/zombies. Say you have an X% chance of contracting the virus during attacks by the infected. If infected, you would have X amount of time to get antibiotics to stop the virus.
