    Your First Betrayal

So I've had some great interviews about player's first murders and I'm in the process of cutting them together and uploading to YouTube. See my previous thread here for details. http://dayzmod.com/f...r-first-murder/ Now I'd like to interview some DayZ players in-game about their first betrayal. Either perpetrated by you or perpetrated on you. Like the first Murder interviews these are done in game on the server and location of your choosing. I'm hoping that by now the trust issues are sorted as the other thread shows I don't kill my interviewees for their loot. This a legitimate form of recording and reporting the stories. If your story is good then I'll reenact it in the editor and upload the interview, cut with reenactment to my YouTube channel. So who's keen for an interview. You can PM me or message me on twitter @Cherno_Journo

Elektro Peace Walk - The Outcome

Here is the story of the first ever Elektro Peace Walk and the unfortunate violence that would follow it.

Elektro Peace Walk - The Outcome

Lol that would make it look more like the Kidnap events with a team of bodyguards around me.
  4. There are lots of posts around here promoting banditry, coming up with excuses for killing others apart from greed and warning of the dangers that exist in Elektro. For those who don't subscribe to kill or be killed and want Elektro to be a place of peace I invite you to join the Elektro Peace Walk. We will be walking peacefully from one end of Elektro to the other and encouraging other survivors and bandits to walk with us. Once we have traversed Elektro we will hold a rally for peace outside the school house. The event will be covered by the Chernarus free press and will feature on the Cherno Journo YouTube channel. So next week you can keep killing each other for gear or lay down your arms and walk for peace in Elektro. Date and times have not been set yet but if your keen to walk or just want to came along and witness DayZ history then join the steam group for more info. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/ElektroPeaceWalk If anyone is interested in following events live these are the participants that are streaming. DayZ SA Event: The Elektro Peace Walk

If we're lucky and end up with The Regulators proving support then we should be safe.

DayZ SA Event: The Elektro Peace Walk

We may die. We may get trolled. But we plan on doing something different and the fact that we can do something like this in an open sandbox environment is what makes DayZ so great.
  8. This is my latest interview with Keltic. This interview is true war corespondent journalism and in conducted under nearby fire just north of Chernogorsk.

DayZ SA Event: The Elektro Peace Walk

I find the responses here interesting. yes it may be dangerous and it will be hard to pull off but anything worthwhile is. We may be attacked, we may be killed but we are determined to go ahead and march for peace regardless. If some bandits want to come and troll us or try and ruin our event then so be it - it reflects on them not us. For those who want to watch and want details on dates and time you'll need to join the steam group. These details will not be publicly announced. Some of us will stream the Peace Walk so you can follow us on twitch. I'll update the original post with Twitch.tv addresses when they come through.
  10. So I finally made up to the NWAF and decided to wiggle at the top of the ATC on a full pop server. Fun times ensured.

    DayZ story telling!

FATHER TOM I was running along the coast once again when I saw the man on the bike. He rode towards me and so I hid in the bushes, by now I'd learnt to be wary of all others. “Don’t be afraid,” the man said as he got off the bike. He was carrying an AKM. I still stayed hidden in the trees, hoping that he hadn't seen me, that he was talking to someone else. “If you're worried about my gun you can have it,” he said. That piqued my interest and so I stepped out from the bush to see what the deal was. The man stood there near his bike with his AKM lowered. “What's your name?” “CJ.” “I'm Padre Tom, good to meet you CJ,” he said and saluted. I saluted back still wary that this might be a trap. I checked the player list and there was a Father Tom among them. “You don't look like a priest.” Father Tom laughed at that, “I suppose not. I travel the coast helping out new spawns. If you want the gun you can have it.” “Really?” “Yes really. It's a good gun, one hit for the zombies. All yours if you want it.” “Okay,” I said still trying to figure out the angle. He dropped the gun but kept the ammunition. I picked it up but I hadn't realized there weren't any bullets. Father Tom watched me, I didn't know how to lower the gun so I just kept it pointed away from him. “Thanks,” I said. It seemed a feeble thing to say to this guy who had just given me the best gun I’d seen so far. “Do you need anything else. Blood, morphine, drink?” I shook my head, “No I'm fine.” “How about bullets for the gun?” he said cheekily. I looked down and realized I didn't have any ammunition. “Oh yeah that would probably help.” “I'm going to ride off down the road a bit and then leave them there for you. I hope you won’t try to shoot me once you have them.” “Why would I do that?” I asked horrified. “You'd be surprised CJ, the things I've seen men do. Take care and stay safe.” “Thanks Father Tom, you too.” He didn't say anything else as he rode his bicycle down the road. I watched him stop a little way along, bend down and drop the AKM magazines. He then got on the bicycle and rode away. He gave a friendly ring of the bike's bell as he rode off into the distance.
  12. So my first player encounter was to be expected.
  13. Yeah I was surprised they chose the clown skin considering it made them so visible but it certainly upped the creep level.

    Radio Station Recruiting for SA!

I think for the actual standalone it would be grabbing a livestream - it's just a matter of whether those live streams are actually "live" or pre recorded. For our POC we're just going to do it live in parts over a couple of days and record it. Mix is together and then link it out as a live stream that just loops over 24 hours. If we get picked up for standalone then we'll probably end up doing it part live and part pre-recorded.

    Radio Station Recruiting for SA!

I'm working with the Chernarus Free Press on a mixture of talk show, interviews and music - very much Three Dog Style. We'll be broadcasting out of Green Mountain and are busily putting together 24 hours of programming as a proof on concept.

    DayZ Inspired Book (In Progress)

I liked it thus far. I'd recommend reading "Day By Day Armageddon" especially the first book as it has a great first person driven narrative in diary format, I assume that's what you're going for. Keep at it I'd love to see more.

How do you feel about donation bonuses?

I thought this was a ridiculous money grab and pretty poor server with people abale to pay for As-50 and helis. Not surprisingly the owner did this multiple times and then after making almost $10,000 as far as I can tell the Zust server is no longer running. http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/keep-the-most-popular-day-z-sanctuary-server-running--36 I'm okay with skins and low end guns. Things that may take you an hour to find and aren't really game breaking. Anything more than that and it's becoming Wasteland.

    Your First Murder

Hi all, So I've been playing DayZ for a while and like Dr Wasteland I've decided to get into the RPG side. My role in DayZ is the Cherno Journo recording the stories of heroism and banditry in the post apocalypse Zombie world. I've been playing this role for a while and gathering stories for a novel that I'm putting together an now I'd like to interview some players about their first murder. The catch, no You Tube vidoe links or interviews over Skype, we do the interview in game over direct chat. I've done a bunch of these and it's intense. We set a meet time and meet coordinates, I have a bike so anywhere on the map is fine, and at the set time and place we meet and conduct the interview. I'll go where you say, on your server. You can snipe me if that's your thing but really it's best of we meet, you get interviewed and then depart. So now I'm looking for people to interview about their first murder. If your keen then PM me, or message me on twitter @Cherno_Journo. Twitter is usually best as it's always on and via direct messaging we can set up a time. Looking forward to recording your stories, Cherno Journo.

    Your First Murder

This is the first interview where I lost an interviewee, although it was prior to our meeting up, out of over 100 conducted. There is certainly something strange about Green Mountain.
  20. So my DayZ novel is getting close to 5000 copies sold and I want to have a giveaway/promotion to celebrate that milestone The thing is I have no idea what to do since the market and audience for DayZ is so large and spread around the world. That makes it hard to anticipate and send out physical items, although not impossible. So for 5 weeks I'm planning a weekly promotion prize, with the final week being the grand prize. So here are my thoughts/options. DayZ Specific 1) A DayZ hoodie from the official store sent to your address. - or other items from teh offical dayZ store. 2) Other DayZ merchandise, there are things like mugs, non official shirts, posters etc 3) A copy of the standalone (this would have been my top but there are so many unknowns that the winner may have to wait a while) Zombie general 4) Copy of Dead Island with all DLC and Dead Island 2 Riptide. 5) Copy of World War Z 6) Any other zombie book/movie/game 7) World War Z Audio book Gaming general 8) Steam giftcard to value of $100 9) Xbox live 12 months membership 10) Xbox live points 11) XBLA game 12) Sony PSN points 13) Sony PS3 game/voucher Or any other ideas. What would you as a DayZ player/gamer think would be a worthwhile prize/giveaway for a promotion running over a five weeks. Let me know your Top 5 in descending order.
  21. Hey I don't think it matters that I got there first. DayZ is huge, the community is huge. There plenty of room for more than one novel story, so keep at it. We need more content that just sniping noobs videos or look at my cool wallpaper.
  22. Most of the players who have interesting stories to tell are Lone Wolf.s I think that comes from the fear, betrayals and murder you just don't get rolling with a group. This interview was with Mandalore who is the Ultimate Lone wolf. I think he has a lot to say on being a Lone Wolf.
  23. The Chernarus Free Press is a website for all of the media that operates within the world of DayZ. I imagine it to be a newspaper that links to other media sources such as the Dayz radio stations the photographers, podcasts etc. Take a look around yourself at http://chernarusfreepress.com/ If there are other DayZ media organisations that would like to be linked or need somewhere to host their content the CFP would be glad to help. The website has been built with a easy to use and robust CMS system so I can provide you with your own pages around the same newspaper template where you can have your own content hosted. If you're interested just post here or PM me. Any feedback would be appreciated.
  24. The backend is all controlled by a PHP called PHPWCMS. http://www.phpwcms.de/ It allows a web designer to create the templates and do all the hard work of making it look beautiful while I can just log into the back end and put up the content quite easily. I don't know much about web design but I liked this approach because you can make something that looks great but is still easy for a layperson such as myself to use and update. There are some great examples in the CMS forums of other websites that look really good using this approach.
