  1. I agree with grimey, Its a good mechanic, i had some guy charge at me with a pickaxe from behind when i had an AK out and it was actually pretty tricky to spin round and blast him due to the 'rifle lag (?)'. Which is as it should be.

What, why? It's not tricky to turn around IRL with an assault rifle.

  2. Maybe because that's the caliber it uses.. and it adds another item that you have to search for? Say a building spawns only 4 items. Now the ammo for you gun has a less of a chance of spawning, because the game decides that it's going to spawn a can of soda, a box of pellets, a pair of pants and some 5.56x45. Now, if there is a bloated loot spawn with many different ammo types, and each gun requires it's real ammunition type instead of say generic 7.62 creates the chance that you may not find that ammo in great abundance, because there are many other different ammunition types that can spawn in its place. How is that hard to understand?

That is not hard to understand at all. I, too, would prefer if they added more calibers. But I wouldn't be mad that they didn't. I'd be happy about a new gun. Anything else is a bonus, not something to get mad over. By the same principle, you ought to get mad over not having to collect 10 clothing parts to be able to put together jeans -- it'd add stuff to search for, after all.

No, what is hard to understand is that these people would rather not have a new gun at all if there won't be a new caliber. THAT makes absolutely no sense.

  3.

He said, they could put AK74 in, but it would be in 7,62x39mm caliber, which would make many people (me included) mad.

    ???

What? Are you joking? Is this real life?

It would "make you mad" if the ammo said 7.62x39mm........... seriously. When the only real difference are four numbers. I'm truly dumbfounded. I can hardly find the words to express my confusion at the mindsets of some people.

Like, seriously. What. Why does it matter what the ammo box says? Maybe you could just pretend it says what you want it to say.

  4. It was never this bad in the mod

Uh... yes, yes it was. Rose-tinted nostalgia classes, much? People were constantly saying that in the mod as well. "It was never this bad at release.. it was never this bad a month ago.. it was never this bad last patch... it was never this bad last week..."

  5. Yeah, but milsim clans that do -nothing- but hunt and kill people via TS3 is spoiling this game.

A lone man doing it, that you can maybe take? I'm all for it, I'm game, it's how DayZ originated. I like that rush.

But running into 4 people who instantly spray half a mag each to kill you? No thanks.

Taking on "milsim" clans alone is the most fun thing you can do in the game. I've played SA for about 80 hours, and fought more 1v3+s than I can count. I've won far more often than not. It's doable, and it's fun. Especially since they think they're the hunters.

  6. This is another one of those super complex things that will never see light in any game. It makes no sense. You would do useless work for hours and hours, because nobody would use the bad stances.

There's absolutely no point in adding incompetency to the characters we're controlling. Yes, we get it OP, you've watched a couple YouTube videos about guns, so you want to flaunt your "expertise." But no.

  7. Do you honestly think wielding sniping capable guns is a simple/easy as it is in DayZ? If using the M4 do you think you can just hit F and get a new mag out of your ammo box automatically? IRL that would take quite a lot more time and fishing and you wouldn't be able to do it while keeping an eye on your target the whole time. My point is that the lack of realism in player movement is balanced with the lack of realism in the capabilities and options available to snipers.

No, it's not as easy. It's easier. I reload faster IRL than I do in DayZ -- and indeed, I can keep my eyes on my target. Why couldn't I?

  8. Yeah, well - IRL people don't have the reflexes of a cat and can't toss around a sniper rifle as they can in game. You'd have to rebalance the guns, animations, etc if you want to rebalance the player movement. All you want is to make sniping easier, and all the people who move like they have OCD and are on LSD want is to avoid snipers like you. It's already balanced, and thus anytime people run through Berezino or Elektro they're going to do the Harlem Shake the whole way through.

Huh? Care to explain your "reflexes of a cat" comment? DayZ somehow improves people's reaction time?

  9. Yeah, that's some really bad loot for NWAF.

The only problem right now is that there's no reason to go to NWAF. You can get similar loot from NEAF, or heck, even from police stations.

What this means is that if you do bother to run all the way there, you'll most likely be by your lonesome. In the mod, Stary Sobor and NWAF were the places for good loot, and people went there for rare stuff like M107s and NVGs and silenced M4s... so while you could get good stuff there, it was dangerous, which balanced it out. Right now, it's not.

  10. before the release they said "we have a new engine. we can make soooo much cool things with it. it doesnt Limit us like the arma2 engine!"   yet now they come and say shit like this!

i am ok with the slow progressoin of developement.   atleast they do something!   but dont sell shit as Gold!!!!

What are you even talking about? The engine isn't limiting them. You clearly don't understand what an engine is. They can do pretty much anything with the engine, but doing anything takes X amount of time. They are also not replacing the engine, but the renderer.

  11. Xant and Nex... you have a very.... skewed version of "carebears" in your heads. I am not in fact, a carebear. I actually have a squad, and use "tactics" (a term you may not be familiar with, so allow me to enlighten you) to navigate, survive and gather resources... Sitting on top of a hill, sniping fresh spawns does not constitute as a "tactic". It is in fact a pathetic way to show that you think you're a tough guy, incapable of dealing with player interaction and/or a level playing field. Pretty sure if my counter-sniper leveled a mosin at your head and killed you, and then proceeded to hunt you on the coast, killing you for hours... you wouldn't enjoy that so much would you? Of course not. Why? Because he'd be impeding your gaming experience.

Don't want to talk to other survivors in a friendly fashion? That's perfectly fine. Grow a pair and bandit like a man then. This game has guns, yes. This game provides the opportunity to kill other players, yes. However, what exactly is the point you're trying to make when you kill a fresh spawn, or kill someone and then don't even bother with any of their gear and just let it respawn? Far as I can tell, you have no point. You're just looking for attention.

Congratulations. You've gained attention on the forums. Do you want a cookie?

I won't be posting on this thread again, as arguing with people who spout nonsense just breeds more nonsense. "Hurray" you may think to yourselves "we won the argument!" However, you've won nothing. All you've succeeded in doing is proving how ignorant and tactless you both are. Others like you fall under the same category. And you refer to "KoS CoD Kiddies" as name calling? Far from it. That is the universal category under which people like you fall. It isn't a name-calling attempt in the least. It's a label. And if you're so proud of your "playstyle", then why do you care? You clearly think you're better than the rest of us.

Anyway, I'm done with words. Words won't reach you, as was made apparent by your ridiculous responses.

May a hero's bullet find you, and may he/she hunt you until you ragequit.

On the contrary, if you were good enough to hunt me down for hours, I'd welcome the challenge.

"Grow a pair and bandit like a man"? Yawn. Not interested in your artificial made-up macho honor. I could just as easily claim that you're not being a man for not killing everyone you meet, and we could have a nice little circular argument. But let's skip that part and get straight to the conclusion: I don't agree with your view, so your judgement is irrelevant to me. As for killing fresh spawns, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. If I do, it's to make sure I don't lose my stuff to a Mike Tyson wannabe, or to test damage, or just because I'm bored. Nothing to do with attention. You're the one who brought this subject up: it follows, then, that you're the one after attention.

Pointless ad hominem, yay. Protip: proclaiming that you didn't lose the argument when you run away with your tail betwixt your hind legs doesn't make it reality. And sure, we're CoD kiddies, you're carebears. Fair enough. It's just your playstyle, why are you protesting when you're called a carebear? It's a label, brah.

  12. Good Idea

should be message system like the bleeding one

5-10 punches = "My hand is in pain"

    10-15 punches = "I broke a finger"

15-20 punches = "My fingers are broken. I can't use my hands"

And all helmets should break hands in anywhere between 1 to 5 hits. (Anyone who has been in a hockey fight can tell you punching helmets hurts)

The helmets do not cover the face, though. And we're never going to have sophisticated enough aiming/hit-detection to make it worth it to make your fist only break if you hit the real helmet, not just the head. And in real life, I can pull back a punch, but you can't in the game, when someone turns or runs away or whatever.

I think it's safe to say that none of this stuff will be added, though. Fantasizing about cool melee systems is nice and all, but they have much bigger problems, and they'd need much smoother melee mechanics overall before making it more complicated.

  13. The irony is strong in this one...

I guess you missed the fact that I was taking the proverbial out of you by mimicking your posting style there. I guess nuance is hard to achieve on a message board. The point, my good sir, is that you've added nothing to this thread. From your first response you've done nothing but criticise, offering no justification for your position nor arguments in it's favour. This leads me to infer that you're overly judgemental and possibly even hypocritical... and that any further input of yours can be safely ignored.

    Have a nice day!

Edit: There's a post made by one of the developers on reddit speaking about the toxic nature of the community (purely in terms of useful feedback). Might I recommend you take a glance over in that direction? Last I checked it was at the top of the page with a thousand or more comments.

Well, that is your opinion, and you're entitled to it. I, for my part, think that you've added nothing to this discussion. Your kitchen psychology is so appallingly bad and misinformed I couldn't even be bothered to finish your posts.
