Suggestion: Decrease hit percentage => Lengthen the Rush + Reduce Artificiality
miqueloz replied to cuddly_rabbit's topic in Suggestions
Source? Also, protip, stop bringing up your military background 24/7. It's starting to sound really embarrassing, especially since you're apparently not even a combat vet. -
No, I wouldn't. I'm not going to lose any sleep over some thirteen year old kid's "funny" nickname.
-
Uh... no? I'll bet anything that someone called "Pedo4life" is not, in matter of fact, an actual pedophile. Do you also think people who are called "ninja_killer_2001" are actual ninja murderers (that is, to say, a ninja who is a murderer, not, as you might think, a murderer of ninjas) in real life?
-
Machete definitely isn't 1-shot kill every time. From my testing, it seems machete sometimes 1-shots from behind, almost never from the front. Takes 2-4 from the front, fireaxe always takes 2.
-
Oh really, get many pedophiles, do you? Pray tell, how does one recognize a pedophile on a DayZ server?
-
Yes.
-
Agreed, I find getting "offended" incredibly childish.
-
That guy is a civilian. He is not "supposed" to do anything. He can point the gun at his own mouth, safety off, if he wants. But what he does is reasonably safe indeed, the gun is pointed at the targets the whole time there's a magazine attached. I've been near a couple of accidental discharges of 7.62 rifles indoors, haven't had any ringing ears.
-
Uh... that's just you, then. There isn't enough smoke to obstruct vision. People are really exaggerating the effects of gunfire. There's a chance your hearing will be damaged, yes. But most of the time it won't be and if you're in a firefight, you won't even register something as insignificant as a loud sound.

Good god people, wanting to ban people for having "lockyourchildren" name now? This is the reason servers can't let you ban for "offensive" names, because some people have no sense of proportion.
-
Yep, I am allowing you to continue with yours, after all.
-
Yes. Yes! I do, and will continue to do. Getting offended over what people say and do on the internet is silly.
-
Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but... who cares? Why does it matter if someone has a racist name? By giving them attention, you're doing exactly what they want. In DayZ, you very rarely even see people's names, and I can honestly say I remember maybe one or two names out of the thousands I've seen. Why are you paying any attention to what people call themselves?

Sanity/rationale/crazy meter to encourage player interaction?
miqueloz replied to BAMO4O's topic in Suggestions
Having artificial mental effects would ruin the game. No, I don't want to be told by the game what I'm thinking. -
Would you want back the reloading sounds when connecting?
miqueloz replied to GunnyITA's topic in Suggestions
I hope you're kidding, because otherwise you're failing logic hard. How is it more realistic to be able to teleport behind someone who has already cleared the building? It isn't, it's completely because of game mechanics, and therefore there needs to be a game mechanic that makes it less good. Arguing against it for realism when the thing it's meant to prevent is unrealistic is just dumb. -
And I never claimed otherwise. However, like I said, if every server has admins with hack-like powers, then there's going to be a substantially larger amount of badmins than there are hackers currently. It's easy for good admins to abuse powers as well. When they're angry, tired, think someone is hacking, whatever. Just a little "show names/locations", just this once, to confirm something or the other... and legit players are screwed over.
-
All the servers have admins.
-
I'd rather risk hackers than admins with hack-like powers. The former are rare (and I've not yet seen anyone obviously hacking), the latter would literally be on every server. No-go on a game with persistent characters.

Anyone else think DayZ should switch engines?
miqueloz replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Gotta love it when clueless people tell the devs what they should do, all matter-of-fact like. Dean's made tons of posts about the engine on reddit, for anyone interested. They're not going to switch and for a good reason, all y'all armchair-developers. -
I say keep it as it is. Makes it harder for serverhoppers, at least they'll have to actually run to approach an airfield instead of spawning right inside/next to a building, if they want to be safe. Easy fix: log off in a safe place. This is what you should do anyway. Done.

Critical thinking is not only helpful in life, it's recommended.

Does having some specific gear in your coat-slot protect you from bullets? Or what's up? I got shot today by, apparently, a Mosin. Heard the shot, saw my screen go a bit grey for a while.. and nothing. No bleeding. No apparent blood loss. But my raincoat was ruined, chest holster was ruined, ammo I kept in the coat was ruined, water bottle I kept there was ruined. How's that work?
-
What's that? Only seen people get kicked for #16, but I just got kicked for #79.
-
CQC can be risky and I want to have a 7.62 caliber weapon if I do it, but it's definitely a ton more fun than sniping from a hill. But yes, bring 7.62 or expect your enemy to turn around and shoot you after being shot 20 times.

Zeds are too easy now. Way easier than they were in 1.7. Sad thing is that stealth is a lot less useful in the current patch than it was before. Too easy to lose the zeds and little reason to stealth because you're so much easier to see.
