Why is everyone shooting on sight today?
mick17 replied to ishootcats's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't and my brother doesn't. I've also run into a few people who didn't. It's not completely hopeless. -
Limited Capacity Testing has begun.

How Optimized will the Standalone actually be?
mick17 replied to Aerosion's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rocket said to expect stable fps. Which means it'll eun better on lower end conputers. The low end gtaphics will probably look better than the mod's. -
This is awesome!

So I've played DayZ and its variants probably a total of 2 and 1/2 hours since November. Kinda waiting for the Standalone so it's fresh. Now onto the story!!! I was playing on Panthera a little today with my bro. We were headed to some kind of fortress we saw on the map. Once we got there we saw a survivor in the one building. So as my brother moves up I take overwatch on a large rock (I had an amazing view through the second story windows where they were) and I contacted them, you know the usual "I won't shoot if you won't" jargon. So they eventually come out of the house and are about to leave when they ask if we have a blood bag. We didn't. They then ask where they were and we gave them a general location. So I'm still on the rock and the have no idea I'm there as far as I know. I'm just keeping an eye on them if they tried anything funny. Well I decided to get down and join everyone. So I start moving and my character starts sliding around on the rock and then glitches off... Splat! Land right in front of the two guys and my brother and die from the fall. I hear them say through my brothers speakers, "Uhhhhaha was that your other guy?"......... I pretty much lol'd

I wish it was...

Would just make the game feel pointless knowing you could walk into a base and get a gun whenever we feel like it. The point is people have 'already' looted these places before you got there. Thats why they are rare, and not to mention powerful. Should we just add tons of food cause 'thats what grocery stores should have in an apocolypse?

DayZ: How to combat roll/somersault (2:04)
mick17 replied to incep710n's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You know no one in their right mind would do that with a backpack... It should be made into a faster vault if you have a backpack on. -
Ok, so I searched the forums and didn't find this suggestion anywhere. I'm not sure if it's possible due to the amount of resources needed or if it would take that many. The server first starts and the vegetation is normal (as it is now). Then vegetation would overgrow such as: grass becomes longer, vines grow (and overgrow) on buildings, certain forest areas are get so overgrown you would need to hack a path with a machete (leaving a trail that could easily be tracked). That path stays till it regrows. It would grow on real life time (and as far as I know that would be in-game time as well). Imagine finding a shack in the middle of the forest, at night, all grown in that you have to hack your way to, vines all over the walls and windows broken out, and then out stumbles one zombie... I think it would help with immersion immensely. It would kinda help immerse you in the 'cycle of life'. Just an idea! Here's an example picture to help visualize what I mean.

Vegetation that overgrows its bounds with time.

Yeah I have no clue how many resources it would take to accomplish it. Pre-overgrown stuff would also be awesome. -
[Standalone] Storms and Environmental Hazards
mick17 replied to Draco122's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It'd be awesome, but I'm not sure the engine could handle it. I'm pretty sure they want to do very realistic weather but I'm not sure how realistic they can get. -
Pretty sure you can't reverse the process once it's been done. There may be people out there who know more than me but I would suggest trying to fix the bad cd key like you are and then wait to see if you get GB. If you do just wipe your computer or get rid of all the malicious files and wait for the SA or buy ArmA II again.

Awesome idea that no one would ever think about >:O
