Will Dayz SA spend a year of development not fixing the two main issues from Dayz?
mick17 replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Don't buy the Alpha. You WILL hate it. Research the MMO architecture and the network bubble before you say 'I don't care for it and don't need it.' Because I guarantee, you will want to rescind that statement after you realize what it does. -
Well they would have to change a fundamental principal in his new AI approach. His new proposal included path finding straight to the nearest target and collision avoidance. They would have to get rid of collision avoidance if they wanted to include collisions. So I don't know how that would work into the new AI.

This is looking amazing! The inventory looks amazingly easy to use (compared to how the ArmA II was for DayZ, here let me put my gun on the ground so I can get my axe out! lol!) The graphics look awesome. It sounds as if they are close to finishing the bubble too.

I don't think spawning with a bike would be a good idea. I don't like the thoight of any type of starting gear. The SS is going to be so much different than the mod. No longer will there be towns that you know to pass over because there wasn't anything there. 95% of buildings are enterable now. So there will be so much more to do in your immediate area.

It would be cool, when books/journals is fully implemented, to be able to draw on paper in game. Maybe craft a piece of charcoal from your camp fire onto a piece of paper in your inventory (or find a pen or pencil or other writing device, maybe even a knife and your finger!). Then you could click on it and select draw or write. (Like clicking on a can of food and selecting eat.) That way you could draw a map for someone or just kill some time drawing a masterpiece. Maybe draw a likeness of a tatoo you saw on a person who robbed you and put it on a bulletin board as a bounty. Who knows what people would do! Maybe draw pictures to put on your underground base's wall or something. I know Rocket has stated about writable books but this isn't what I'm suggesting. I'm suggesting a very simple drawing (Microsoft Paint from like windows 98 lol) component in game.

Yeah, it wouldn't last forever.
-
Yes! The options are endless!!
-
I have no idea where you got that lol!
-
You could... but that would be disgusting. The person who would find that might even be like 'What is this!? Chocolate? In the apocalypse!?'
-
Lol!
-
Yeah something like that. Nothing to crazy.
-
Lol!!
-
It was simple and got the job done quite well!
-
Then you could start a clan and rip them all down and burn them. Make it your DayZ life mission!

Damage is not based on 'if it's a sniper rifle'. The DMR (otherwise M1A irl) shoots the same round as the SCAR (not the SCAR S) therefore they should have similar damage. Most sniper rifles (in the US military) are chambered for .308 which is what the M1A shoots. That round is slightly smaller then a Mosin Nagants round. A sniper doesn't need a .50... they need to be accurate. .50s are for extremely looooong distances (mountain to mountain shooting in Afghanistan) or for taking vehicles down. Stop complaining about damage when in real life a single shot to the leg with .308 isn't gonna kill you. (Unless it hits your large artery but even then it takes time to die)

Taking in questions for Rocket and Dayz Standalone at Gamescom
mick17 replied to radarhead's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I third that. Also what diseases (other than cholera and dysentery) are planned/already implemented? -
Love the idea! Completely realistic with an already built in counter to it. By a counter I mean smoke from a chimney lighting up a building at night etc... could attract zombies, players and..... other things...

Really looking forward to reading/watching the devblog! I'm most excited to see what changed since E3 and how close they are to release. Hopefully they show in detail all the weapons they have as well!

Mosin's are extremely loud in real life and as hope they are in the SA. Wouldn't be the same without the BOOOOOOM! haha -

Also I have a Mosin Nagant ( or moist nugget :D ) in real life and that is a rediculously accurate and extremely realistic model of one. Awesome work! -

July Round-up: "I want the alpha" < "I want the alpha to be good"
mick17 replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
People who have no clue how game development works make me laugh... I get you're impatient. I want it to release like everybody else. It's just not something that you can just go and spend a day on and then, 'oh guyzez its in alphaz now.' It doesn't work like that. It takes allot of work and know how to do this. I've attempted to write code before and allot pf it goes way over my head. So I admire the developers who rewrote the engine and stuff in 6 months! That was an incredible feat if you ask me. -
M107, because that's what we use over here in America! :D

I think sanity should be derived by the person playing the character... if that person is insane in real life they're playstyle and character will be insane, and vice-versa.

[DayZ SA] Loot Patterns, Linear looting and more.
mick17 replied to phillipnz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The loot will be fixed in the SA.... A global loot spawn cluster thinga ma jig has been annonunced where they can control what (and quantitys of what across all the servers in the WHOLE world), where, and when. Loot maps will no longer be able to be made and it will be very dynamic.
