    CoD Zombie Mode!

I'd like to know where all these kill on sight players are playing, every encounter I've had with another survivor has been cautious but friendly, I had 10 encounters up until recently and was shot by another and according to the other players on the server he was using a glitch to cheat, I don't know, it was my first game and I wasn't familiar with the mod. I'd also like to know where all these bandits are hiding, I've not seen one yet but according to some they are running amok everywhere.

Hey, quick question to the community.

As I posted to someone else yesterday, my games are currently 80% good with the occasional bug, some are just irritating and some are game breakers (spawn bug) meaning I have to find another server to get my character back where he was last saved. The mod in its current state plays better than some games I've paid full price for, once you're on a server and everything works well you can just lose hours in the game, I like to explore and this mod gives you every opportunity to do that. It's still an alpha and going through a lot of changes with more to come but it's still a lot of fun and I can't wait to see where it will be in 6 months time.
  6. I don't play at night, it's just too dark to see anything at all and I won't be altering game settings to enjoy a game that I like to play. I'll stick to day time for now.

    Spawn Bug

Also had the same, logged off outside Novy Sobor, no health lost, etc. I logged back in around 1 hour later (server was SE1) and I was on the beach near Komarovo, shivering with more zombies killed, low food and low water. I tried a different server and was back where I was in Novy Sobor.

    Devils Castle

I was there the other day before I was shot, I found a torch, ammunition, food and an M1911 with 2 magazines.
  9. Long time ARMA player, bought in 2010, the mod is a bonus and a very good one too :)
  10. Date/Time: 24/05/12 What happened: Floating Items Where you were: Around Gorka What you were doing: Exploring *Current installed version: 1.5.8.4 *Server(s) you were on: EU3 *Your system specs: *Timeline of events before/after error http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/559816845907631265/D53A7D4AA776580416B630F4C8A115AFA75FCEC2/ I tried several times to pick these items up but I couldn't, I also tried standing under them and then looking at the floor to see if I could pick them up, nothing. I tried walking around the items and just clicking gear to see if they'd show but again nothing.
  11. That's an interesting percentage: Have you played ARMA II before playing DayZ? 53% yes and 47% no. The mod has brought in a lot of new players :)

    HOTFIX 1.5.8.4 Rollng Update

I was just about to post in the other thread too, I can see why they call you Rocket! :D Thanks for the hotfix and my FPS has increased and I was seeing other players saying the same too.
  13. A new one for you OP, I was still in the same building I was in previously, my temperature takes a while to go up, I was playing on a different server and was in-game for around 10-15 minutes, I hear footsteps outside so ready my weapon, I'm in complete darkness. I'm waiting and waiting, nothing, then a flare lights up right behind me, I see the door open and in walks a survivor, he sees me and salutes, we talk for a little while and I ask him if he has water, he has only 1 bottle so I give him a spare water bottle that I was carrying, he had plenty of opportunity to shoot me and I did to him but neither pulled the trigger, that's now my 10th encounter with a different survivor every time and we've both walked away. You've just had some bad luck.
  14. Done, nice survey. I'd be interested to see the answer to this question too: What is it that you dislike most about DayZ? *
  15. Stick with it, not everyone is a gun toting lunatic that will shoot on sight. I've just finished a game and I was raising my temperature inside a building when I heard a zombie scream just outside, as I opened the door a survivor went running past, seen me with my weapon drawn and headed towards me (I presume he was out of ammunition), I killed the 3 zombies chasing him and he said over chat 'Thanks for the help' :)
  16. No I wouldn't open fire and for one simple reason, yes I could kill him quite easily, he's unarmed and poses no threat but other players could as soon as I open fire on him. I could be attacked by another survivor/group/bandit, I wouldn't take that risk and will only open fire when I have no choice.
  17. I'll take back what I said about this earlier, it drops far too rapidly in rain, I've survived for a while but I'll die due to heat loss, my hands started shaking at 25 making it difficult to aim and I'm now at 19 degrees and inside yet my temperature has not moved, if I'm shaking it should rise steadily and if I'm inside it should rise a lot quicker than it does now, if it does rise now when I'm inside. I lost over 70 degrees while in the rain and the distance covered was around 1,000m.

    Everyone is a Bandit

No obviously, whatever gave you that idea? Every single survivor has a little thing they do that I look for, that gives me an idea on their intention, it's what's kept me alive so far. I'm not posting that here so don't ask, that's my own personal tactic. Any survivor that doesn't do what I'm looking for will be shot. I forgot to add, I've met around 8 survivors so far, them and I have walked away from each encounter.

How do you survive as a lone wolf?

Some of my tactics: Always carry food and water and if you find an area with lots of cans, drink one and take the rest with you, same with food, if you're near the red, eat and take what's left. You won't need to drink or eat for a while and you've just stocked up on what you've used. If you find a road, that can be used to find your location, follow it but stay around 50m either side of it, Do NOT run down the middle of the road as I've seen other players doing. If you're spotted by a zombie in a town you can run inside and they'll slowly walk, you don't have that choice if you happen to meet one/two in open ground but you can lose them, head for a forest or an area with a lot of trees and keep on running right through it, they will eventually lose sight of you and you can carry on as normal. You MUST be very careful if you're in this position, you are making lots of noise and are a huge target for a bandit so once you're clear find an area that has some cover and wait, make sure you're not being tracked, take as long as you need then move on. Only fire your weapon when you have no other choice, killing that 1 zombie might be easy but you could have attracted the attention of a bandit/survivor who needs food/water and some will kill you to get it. Stop and listen, you'll be surprised what you can hear when you're stopped and listening to your surroundings, I was tracking a guy earlier to see what he was up to and he had no idea I was even watching him. Always crouch, I don't think I've ever stood upright yet. Prone if you have to cross open ground and wait, don't automatically assume it's OK just to run across. Use the tree line if necessary.
