I'm nearly 15 I don't mess and I will follow orders but I don't have game yet because I intend to buy it in september/ October. I like the sound of your group mainly because you have ex-military and have order

And I have good ideas. If you have players on 24/7 then you can set a server and secure the airfield or somewhere else that's usefull to a group and then use helicopters and planes to transport and raid bandits

Real shotguns do as such so why not virtual ones and a choice of ammo (buck shot and slugs)

Dogs would be good for security and hunting rabbits and things

Small hunting cabins DEEP in the woods with a hunting rifle/crossbow ammo plenty of food and a quad perhaps and a water pump and the building would not show up on the map

Random spawning but only in the woods and remote areas good ideas
