DE 853 vehicle hacking (teleporting)
ultimato@gmail.com posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
So I logged in today to discover that me and my friend's UAZ and motorcycle was gone. We spent all yesterday fixing the UAZ up after finding it so that sucked. Anyway nothing else was gone from our "base", and the server had not been restarted so I went over to NWA to see if there had been something going on. This is what I found there.. God I hate hackers. They completely ruin the game for the rest of us. At least I got my motorcycle back, but the UAZ was gone.. -

Aaand again today the vehicles are gone. Went back to NWA, nothing.. so I thought maybe admins had sorted things out, reset all the vehicles or something. went on a 30 min run to see if any vehicles were in their original spawn points. nope. sigh.. I am quitting this game now. What is the point of playing when hackers ruin the game. I will see you all when the stand-alone comes out i guess.. -

DE 853 vehicle hacking (teleporting)

Just a hunch. I have seen stuff like this before.. Boats in the middle of NWA, the thunderdome thing, etc. Hackers seems to like it there. Besides, I was fairly close to it anyway, and it was on the way to where we found the UAZ before. -

Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.6

As sad as I will be to see my hard-fought-for equipment go, a wipe would be for the greater good. However if it is to be so, please make sure first - I mean really sure - that all the fixes actually work. After a week or so after the new release is out should be enough time imo. -

I found that changing skins will actually change your backpack back to the one that you used previously. Most of the time that would be the patrol pack. But in my case i lost a Backpack (coyote) once, and got the Alice Pack which I had previously. however if you put down your (new) pack on the ground one time and pick it back up you should be good. -

Red Dead Redemption style hogtie! -
A hacker just teleported everyone on the server into the ocean, and then to NWA and started shooting and throwing grenades.

After disconnect, your body is still there
ultimato@gmail.com replied to YoChris's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This happened first to my friend yesterday, and today the body was still there, standing upright and "alive". Then it happened to me today, when The game crashed in the middle of a fight with zombies. I force quit the game, started it back again, and I spawned next to my "other body" complete with duplicates of all equipment. I guess servers will fill up with empty human shells if this isnt fixed quickly... -

The way "money" works is threefold: 1: A common understanding that is has value 2: There is a limited supply of it 3: It is more practical to carry around with you than another item you would want to barter with. In the real world, governments and organizations sponsor their respective currencies and limit the amount in circulation. Also it works since "dollar bills" are easy to carry around with you. Another example from the real world is valuable metals such as gold and silver. They are naturally supply limited, and there is a demand for them in jewelry etc. Think silver/gold coins and they are pretty decent in portability as well, (compared to lugging around big items for barter). How could this work in DayZ? The "common understanding of value" pinciple could be that the item itself is useful (food, ammo, meds etc.), or it could be something otherwise useless, but backed by an in-game organization (i.e. FreesideTrading.co). "You would be ok with giving away your SVD for 20 empty tin cans (a poor example I know) if you knew that they at a later point would accept those same tin cans back as payment for something else." The "limited supply" just means that the item used as currency needs to have a certain balance in supply. Too common and it looses its value, too rare and it is not an effective means of trading. The last part is what really needs to change in DayZ for a form of currency to evolve. PORTABILITY. No item in the game takes significantly less space in the inventory compared to items you may want to buy/sell for it.
