People spawning anywhere destroys tactical play

This is what happens when you post your opinion here
septuscap replied to fml's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I just spawned' date=' it really didnt matter. I always play friendly in case a person wants to team up. Direct chat (text) only has a 20m range. [/quote'] I'm sick of this excuse. Friendly does not mean "be a fucking moron." What you really mean to say is "whatever I'll just respawn anyway," which is what PvE players are always complaining PvP players do (play "suicidal" b/c whatever they'll just respawn anyway) -
Why is everyone I meet an ***hole?
septuscap replied to Deacoon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No I said that's the only minority that would be affected negatively by this change. The feature itself adds a social fabric to the game that is simply non-existent outside your VOIP group at the moment. And apparently you're one of those trolls who just joins pick up groups to backstab them, as you think it's one of the "defining features of the game." What % of the 200k players do you think actually does that? And why do you think a reputation system is such a bad idea, considering how it can help friendlies hunt bandits, form larger groups for trade cities, and make the game that much more interesting? You hide behind realism when you want each respawn to be a "new" life (disregarding the fact you have all the same friends, tents, and knowledge from your "previous" life), and then cite reputation systems and the like as "unrealistic." You're a fucking tool. -

New Stealth System would be totally fine IF

I killed some one in 1.7.1.2 and the server notification read "Septus killed X (friendly fire)" Is this a bug or just some added info? Also posted a bug in bug reports where trying to loot a corpse freezes your game now.

It was balota airfield you clowns.

The issue is even if each of you chooses skins #1-10 to differentiate, the chance of a stranger using one of those skins is equally likely. How fanboys can defend this idiocy is beyond me. You have to doublecheck in ventrilo before shooting some one b/c everyone has 1000 clones that *aren't* in your group.

I can confirm this. There was wire fence at the base of the stairs of balota air traffic control tower on the first floor, I just 'V'aulted right over it. No bleeding. I think the fencing may have sunk into the floor or something which made this possible. -

To people blocking doors with tank traps
septuscap replied to slappyham's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You friendlies are idiots. When you cried for these traps and what not, bandits specifically said you'd also see them at the top of ladders to help snipers, at entrances to keep players out of buildings, etc. How can you be surprised when they're implemented and used in those exact ways. -

Is it just me? Killed by connecting players.
septuscap replied to hkurban's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
He's not complaining about logging *out* he's complaining about people logging IN after he already "secured" an area, thus negating all his work making sure the building/area was empty in the first place. Normally once you know a building is empty you can cover the entrances, but not so when players who had logged out in the building just happen to log in. There's no easy fix to this, other than making you vulnerable on log-in so players take more care in where they log out. It is RIDICULOUS how often I see people just appear in hangars and shit, whether they're just server hopping or happen to be logging in, or whatever. I'm constantly scanning anyway so I haven't gotten screwed over because of this yet, but I can imagine how annoying it would be. -

To many Bandits? Suggestions for Co-op.

Those incentives already exist. I personally think you have to be an idiot to solo this game unless you're doing it purely for the challenge. The point is, grouping with a random is too dangerous, regardless of the benefit. 9 times out of 10 he'll just shoot you in the face before you even type "friendly." Maybe he's already in a group, maybe he's a bandit, whatever. And *if* you actually get a group going, you have the additional risk of being betrayed the moment you have something the random wants, or being used as zombie bait just so the random can get to where he wants to go, or being killed on a whim when the random is bored. There is simply no TRUST. He is just as likely to kill you out of boredom than help you. That is what a trust system (reputation, whatever you want to call it) would allow for. Obviously the system I outlined isn't complete. What happens if one friend labels some one a bandit and another labels him a friend? Clearly, rather than an absolute value, there needs to be some measure of stats. Not just an average rating, but also an indication of the standard deviation. My brief outline also didn't account for an obvious piece of information -- is this player himself a friend of a friend? This is a videogame, and you can't expect people to take as much time remembering people as they would in real life. It's just not going to happen. As for ruining the bandit playstyle, I don't think bandits would give two shits about it (me being one). Maybe a few trolls who specifically enjoy grouping up and backstabbing repeatedly would have their jollies taken, but I don't think anyone cares for that minority, and the trolls would simply find their jollies as a regular ol' bandit. -
