    DayZ Stories

My friend informs me that he raided a tent earlier and he found me a .50 cal sniper rifle. He took a silenced M4 for himself. This is our first experience having a rare weapon in DayZ. So what do we do? We decide to kill other players. Complete darkness, my friend and I camp out on the hillside outside of Elektro overlooking the power plant. I had the only night vision googles so I had to guide him around in the darkness. We lay in wait for what seems to be hours. Suddenly, I hear a strange sound: a whirring. A huge spotlight comes on. "Get under the trees!!" I shout in panic as the light comes within feet of us. We wait under the trees for it to pass. It must have been the most terrifying couple of minutes ever. Looking downrange, I spot a newbie with his flashlight on climbing a tower in the distance. I scope him and pull the trigger, the rifle rips out a powerful shot. Like lightning, it lights up the night, thundering echo throughout the hillside we're laying on. I swear I could even feel the earth shaking under me. It's too dark to tell if I hit him. I could only see the silhouette of the tower with my scope and my night vision doesn't zoom far enough. It seems like I missed; he's still standing. I let another shot out. He must have seen where the shot came from. Scared shitless, he runs to the other side of the tower. Minutes pass by, no sign of him. He must have logged out or jumped off. My friend tells me that it was the most awesome thing he'd ever witnessed in DayZ.
