DayZ is a great game, it is a thrill to pillage for loot and fight for one's life, sometime though there isn't a clear enough goal other than survival. For the standalone game or mod I think there should be a seperate mode along the lines of escape. What originally made me want to play DayZ was to experience a situation like Cormac Mccarthy's book "The Road". The quest for survival in inhospitable lands Escape mode would go something like this: Everyone spawns along a start line of sorts. They are then given a map and shown an evac station set up to rescue survivors, however every other player is trying to reach the same evac station and supplies are too limited for everyone to make it. There could be multiple paths and the mode could be incorperated into the same open world as the DayZ we know and love. Edit 1: Additional ideas: Have the players start out in the country, limited to country loot. As they progress towards the Evac they can approach a military zone and begin to receive better loot. This would mean that all guns are viable at the stage in the escape the player is at. Further, the upgrading of guns off (perhaps a dead soldier?) as they approach the military zones would add to the sense of progression Secondly, a greater need for food. This would force players to scavenge more even if they are armed and would reduce teh instances of campers. Moving forward to find food would become necessary for survival. (perhaps food would not spawn for the player in areas they have passed to stop players from taking endgame weapons back to spawn....) This mode would work well because it would encourage movement and dynamic gameplay, a style of play that is not always rewarded in DayZ today. I think this mode would be tremendous fun, and would clearly delineate a goal for players. Please, if you see this rocket consider adding it to your upcoming game or patchs.
