i think the idea of global humanity is interesting though. Like if the global humanity is really low then more infected spawn? As more people are dieing. If the global humanity is high then less infected as humans are working together and fighting back.

yeah i made a thread about this awhile ago but it turned into an essay. The general concept was that each player is initially affected largely by horrific events that they see/do, but the more these things happen the less they are affected by them, until eventually they feel no emotion what so ever. The effects of psychological distress are the tricky part to implement, but would need to be bad enough to decrease your chance of survival. -

i like this idea very much, would give bandits a pause before opening up on a player they don't really need to kill. Just make sure how many zombies spawn are sufficiently randomised and based on the weapon firing, and how far away any buildings are. eg if you are in the middle of a forest without no buildings for miles, then no zeds would spawn. -

YES worth a shot -
rocket's recent thread about removing the starting weapon got me thinking. It would only be a good idea if players would still be able to defend themselves in other ways, such as with melee like their fists (difficult to implement), or by throwing objects. Objects that can be thrown already are tin cans and empty whiskey bottles, you could also have rocks/stones as an item as well. Now whilst tin cans won't hurt anybody, and rocks and whiskey bottles probably wouldn't affect the infected too much, throwing a rock/bottle at another player would be both hilarious and quite disorienting/painful irl, so why not have take something like 500-1000 blood off on impact, or if it is a headshot substantially more. Of course it would still be quite difficult to kill anyone by throwing things unless you got lucky and hit the head, and imo melee attacks will eventually be needed, but this would be extremely easy to implement and is a start down the road of uncoventional weaponry for the mod.

Might i suggest all characters be wiped for the new patch? It's a bit hard to test gameplay changes when there are still players with gucci gear who obtained this gear in a different version. Perhaps in the new version getting military weapons will be nigh impossible, because the zombies will be so dangerous that the NW airport will be suicide. We will never see if this is the case if players spawn into 1.7.1 with all their ridiculous gear, which has all come from a different version, thus injecting each server with far more weaponry than it was intended to have. I myself have a DMR, m4SD, m9SD plus every item, rangefinder, nvgs, and am suggesting this, because i think it would be bloody awesome to have everyone start from scratch again, especially with the no starting weapon change.

the idea of wiping was that players might not actually be able to get back to where they are currently with the new zombies, as the zeds will (hopefully) be far more dangerous, so attacking places like airfield will be suicide, so getting military weapons will be extremely difficult. This will change the nature of the game entirely, as opposed to everyone spawning in with weapons that would normally be almost unobtainable. This is of course contingent on how dangerous the zombies actually are and everyone starting from scratch, as otherwise you can shoot a bandit with good gear and instantly become godlike again. -
crouch running is actually extremely tiring as well. Try crouch running around your house for awhile and let me know how your thighs feel :D

Did patronizing me elevate your sense of superiority? I don't see where it appeared in my post that i was angry or insulting you. I was merely contradicting your statement that players with good loot will disagree with the wipe. -

it's not about what people want, it's about what is good for the mod. When running experiments variables need to be kept constant to make it a fair test. The outcome of applying the patch with everyone starting from scratch vs everyone running around with the sniper rifles they obtained multiple versions ago is going to result in entirely different feedback (most likely far less deathmatching complaints vs far more). And quit the bitching about poor loot vs players with good loot. I probably have better loot than 80% of the player population, as stated in the OP. -

well if the starting weapon gets removed then i would say it is a major update, that in conjuction with the new zombies. Otherwise it'll be a chicken shoot down at the beach with my m4sd :P Plus the best way to test a new build is have everyone start from scratch; not have players with items they obtained in a previous build when it was much easier to get those items. -

but players look vastly different when they are unarmed. So you're not going to shoot people that clearly dont have a weapon because you are "in fear of losing your precious gun" -

YES This has actually changed my mind. People will be way more trusting since every man and his dog won't have a gun, and if someone does they'll be less likely to kill you if you are unarmed (no threat). -

NO IRL you can still defend yourself with brute force (fists, body tackle) if necessary, until that is implemented, do not make players completely defenceless -
So are the infected wearing neon zombie signs now? :P perhaps amend visibility to visual detection range?
