After spending most of my time tonight, trying to figure this issue out, I think I've narrowed it down to something wrong in the latest Arma 2 Patch (95883). More specifically, I believe the coast respawning bug was happening after the game was force closed. Either from Alt+F4'ing or getting stuck on the loading screen and having to end task on the game. So basically, try reverting back to the prior Arma 2 Beta Patch (95819) located @ http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php/ Props to Chimaera for these instructions (Found them in a post he made back in July) Download the (95819) patch from the site linked above Now we need to Uninstall BattlEye (just in case, not sure if this step is really needed, but it's what I did) Go to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\BattlEye and run the uninstaller there. If no uninstaller there, you can try uninstalling it from the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs. Delete the Beta folder located @ C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta Delete the BEClient.dll in this folder @ C:\Users\Your Windows User Name\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 OA\BattlEye Once you have done all that, extract the files from the (95819) beta patch, and run the .exe to install the patch. It will also reinstall BattlEye since we removed it in the previous steps. Now after I reverted back to the (95819) patch, I fired up Dayz Commander and started joining and leaving servers. I was using the latest Dayz patch (1.7.2.5) and the previous (95819) Arma 2 patch. I joined 20 servers in a row, and not one did I get stuck on the loading screen. I had a few servers that took a little longer to get past the loading screen than others, but they all got past that part in less than 1 minute. Also to note, I joined these 20 servers in a row, as fast as I could, and not once was I teleported back to the coast, so I don't think there is some kind of server hopping fix that was implemented. The 20 servers I joined were all running the latest Dayz (1.7.2.5) and the latest Arma 2 Patch (95883). So try this out and let me know if it helps you or not, it's not a guarenteed fix, but it's worth a shot. Also if you are using Six Launcher/Updater, I've read it will auto update you to the latest Arma 2 patch. If possible, try to turn that auto update feature off before you revert back to the (95819) patch. Or install Dayz Commander and give that a try. EDIT: Forgot to mention in Step 5 above, the App Data folder is a hidden folder. Google it if you don't know how to show hidden folders in your Operating System.

I've heard spamming "V" will help you in those free fall situations. (Never experienced this myself though)

Play on another server, they don't want you lagging on their server. I'm not sure why people complain about servers They pay the monthly fee, they can do whatever the hell they want, it's THEIR server. You don't like it, go to anohter server.

You did the right thing, if you didn't kill him, he would have probably killed you. You can't trust anyone in Dayz.

I bought the game just to play Dayz. Never even tried Arma 2 by itself. It's a lot of fun, and IMO, it's worth the $30 or so dollars to buy the game. Who knows how long it will be before the stand alone comes out, mine as well enjoy the game now. If you stick to lower populated servers, hackers are not an issue. I've never encountered a hacker in over a month of playing Dayz. Also it gives you a bit of practice to be ahead of the curve for when the stand alone is released.

If you updated to the latest Arma2 Beta 95948, you won't be able to join some servers. It depends on the server settings I believe, some servers with older Arma2 Beta patches, you'll be able to join. Some of them will boot you out of the game for bad version. If you don't have a set server you play on, on the left side of Dayz Commander, Check the 2 boxes to Hide Wrong Dayz and Arma2 versions, and you should be able to join those servers for sure.

I believe white is talking about the Settings in Dayz Commander. Go to the Settings in the upper right corner of Dayz Commander, and under Steam Options, the 2nd check box down, is Replace ArmaOA 2 files with the Beta.

What's with all these trading threads, oh what's this worth, what can I trade this for? It's worth whatever the heck someone wants to give you in the trade. There is no currency, there is no set trading deals, it's relative to the person you're trading with. If you are lucky enough to even get a fair trade without getting owned.

If you want a computer that will play games on the HIGHEST settings possible for the next few years, it's going to cost a lot more than $1,000 or so. For your price range, you can still get a nice gaming machine, but it's not going to be able to play future games on the highest settings for years to come. If you can settle for changing to Normal type graphic settings in the next few years, you can get that for your price range.

At least he made a new abbreviation in his rant, DHP = Dick Head Players. And I like how he compains about the fiends trying to be the BEST, and his forum name is Dayz ELITE LOL. Sounds to me he is an upset fiend, who wanted to be the best, but got his butt kicked by thy DHP's.

Maybe you got hacked by a nice hacker, who wanted to point out some important things on your map for you :). Didn't get you killed, didn't take your gear, just marked your map a little for ya.

To bad this event was not recorded, it would have been hilarious to hear the vehicle chat when this happened lol.

I did delete the beta folder before I reverted :)

I just joined 20 servers in a row, all running the latest 95883 patch, when I had the 95819 patch on my computer. Not once did I ever receive an error message. This might be a server side variable setting to force a certain patch though, I'm not sure. If you can't join a 95883 server after reverting back to 95819, just update it again to the latest patch.

That solution wouldn't work when the maximum players on one particular server is around 50. Oh my server is full, guess I can't play my main character tonight!

It seems to be happening to me, when I get stuck on the Loading screen of servers, and have to manually close the game out. I'm fully updated with both Dayz and Arma 2 patches, and I'm only trying to join servers with the latest patches that I have installed. So it's not just happening when switching from 1.7.2.4 to 1.7.2.5 servers. EDIT: If this is indeed a fix for server hopping, it's actually a dumb idea to implement. Most people start out on the coast, and eventually move inland, and head North. By respawninig server hoppers who are already geared up on the coast, it's just going to make it harder for the new players joining the game, when they are getting spawn killed a lot more. And then you start losing new players, because they are frustrated. Not the smartest decision if this was the fix for server hopping.

Tried searching, but no luck.... I've played on a few servers, where once I got a map + compass, I was able to see a blue marker showing my location on the map, and what direction I was heading. Is this a server side setting or something? Is this a Regular vs Veteran server issue?
