It seems impossible that BI could possibly have a new game engine ready, so what is actually going to be in the feature set of DayZ standalone? Will any major engine improvements be achieved with this release, or are we just going to pay for the same DayZ with its own hard disk footprint? This is what DayZ needs to be worth paying for: - Larger servers - Elimination of duping and hacking - Logoff timers - Anti-ghosting measures Is any of that actually going to happen?

You want a harsh, realistic world? You want threats in the wilderness without having to spawn zombies everywhere and bog down the servers? One bear can do the work of 20 zombies. They're hard to kill, they maim in a single swing, and they can smell the meat in your pack from a kilometer off. We need bears.

I want to see the OP travel 8 km with a backpack, rifle, pistol, hundreds of rounds of ammo, food, water, first aid, binoculars, and a hatchet, and I want to see him do it in less than a day. Then come back and whine about how hard it is to hold down a key on a computer keyboard for 30 minutes. -

Mind cluing us in on what sort of server-hopping fix you have in mind, so that we can discuss it in theory? Once the technology gets in place, we want you to implement the best possible version of the fix.

Some less-lethal combat options would be fantastic. Pepper spray, tasers, rubber bullets/beanbags, zip-tie cuffs, and knockdowns (blunt/unarmed melee) would all be great additions.

Your character is stored on the hive server. You can't delete it even if you want to. If you want to save your user profile, which contains all of your keybinds and settings, backup the ArmA2 and OA folders that are in My Documents. However, if you're just reinstalling the game, I don't think the installer will even overwrite those. -
I think the average life expectancy is programmed to ignore lives that last under 1 minute or something. By making people suicide-run into zombies or find a weapon, you would actually create a lot more 3-5 minute lives and drop the reported life expectancy.

I don't think you know what PvP means. The CZ550 drop rate was already nerfed. Sniper rifles are fine, go cry elsewhere. -

This is the perfect "ghosting" fix and the OP is right on. A relog timer for server-hopping A->B->A kills ghosting without impacting players who disconnect and just want to get back on (A->A) or are trying to find a server with the right settings, low lag, etc (A->B->C). Disconnecting to avoid death requires a separate fix (logically, a logout timer). -
People look different. We are all different heights, weights, and shapes. No two faces are the same, and we all move differently and have different civilian clothing. Because no game engine can properly model how easy it is to recognize an individual by their physical characteristics, other measures are needed. I would propose the ability to mark other players with colors (eg. red, green, blue), which would result in client-side color-tinting of their player model when they are within a close range, eg. just barely noticeable at about 30 meters and growing more distinct at closer distances.

No, it's unrealistic that you get to respawn at all. If humanity reset upon death, it would be meaningless.

Well, right now you can collect stuff, fill tents, and fix vehicles. Then you can go hunting for other people in random places. That's all there is in the endgame. I believe some more high-level objectives are in order. The purpose of high-level objectives is to attract established player groups to an area to spark some conflict. One thing that can be built on is the ability to produce stuff, instead of just finding it lying around. As the survivors of an apocalypse regroup, eventually they start growing their own food, making clothing, digging wells, and rebuilding infrastructure, and that's what I want to be possible in DayZ. I want to build towns. I want to plant farms. Even better, I want to command NPC civilians to plant farms, in exchange for my protection (or my "protection"). I want to have those same NPCs cranking out clan uniforms and ghillie suits. I want tripflares and barricades and machine gun emplacements to defend my towns, and I want to be able to build these things in a machine shop that I get running by fixing a portable generator. But most of all, I want to send recon parties on an expedition to probe someone else's player-built-village, then attack it and conquer their civilians to make stuff for me instead, and I want to defend my town from the same aggression. I want that objective. tldr: More sand in the box. It's feature adding time.
