how many ppl will quit when.....

Someone gets 'outplayed' when you spawn into the game behind them or you just happened to find a pair of night vision goggles and they haven't, or they ran out of ammo because they can't find any. The idea that all this random shit occurring means someone has 'outplayed' someone else, is bullshit. If you start from equal positions and you get the best of your opponent then kudos, you ''outplayed' them, otherwise you're full of shit.
  2. I say give us a REAL zombie apocalypse and we will be too worried about them and less about the other players. They should be wandering all over the place and in places where you DON'T expect them. Zombies are pretty shit so far....I'm not afraid of them. I spend most of my play time trying to out spot other players.

DayZ has become Deathmatch / Team Deathmatch

It's pretty sad when your biggest fear is other players and NOT the zombie apocalypse. I have died twice from zombies but probably 15 times by players. Zombies I can predict, players I can't. I've sadly resigned to shooting on sight. I had some amazing co-op days with strangers a couple of weeks ago, but that's gone.

WTF is happening to the server community.

There's only one way to solve this dilemma. You have to make players worth more than a can of beans or some ammo. There should be more cooperative elements to the game, like blood packs for example. Kill as many people and who you like, I don't care, but make certain elements of the game require the cooperation of another player. There has to be a benefit to the players for NOT killing each other. Something like blood transfusion is key to this. The game requires you get a transfusion FROM another player. Perhaps food shouldn't give back blood. Blood could return VERY SLOWLY at a constant rate only if you are WELL FED. Otherwise, the only way to get back quickly is to have another player give it too you. All this talk of realism and I never had a can of beans heal a cut or make me instantly "200 points" healthier. Perhaps bandages should work something similar. If you bandage yourself, perhaps it only slows the bleeding and you trickle blood (Say 1 point every 10 seconds) for a period of time. Eventually it stops and you you can SLOWLY heal as above. Having a bandage applied, or first aid administered, from another player, stops the bleeding instantly and starts the healing process. How about infections? You SHOULD get an infection from zombie attacks. YOU WERE BITTEN! It makes your player continue to get more ill and degrade his abilities. The only way to cure this infection is help from another player. Things like this would require you to seek out other survivors or join clans/groups as survival is no longer tied to kill or be killed. This doesn't punish anyone for play style and makes other survivors more valuable than a can of fucking beans.

    Cannibalism and You.

Although interesting, there is no need for it in this game as it stands. Food is readily available and spawns regularly in the form of loot and animals. Now, remove those, and require players to actually grow, gather and hunt food. In a real survival situation, one would spend most of their day looking for food. Make starvation REAL! It can takes WEEKS to starve to death, not the measly few hour or so before you need to eat a can of beans. The same goes for water, a person can live several DAYS without water under greater and greater duress. During starvation, the player would get weaker, slower and more vulnerable to infection. Combine THESE elements, then cannibalism becomes a viable option. Until then, there's no point in it.

    The Moral Effect Theory v2.0

The death throes, screams of pain, blood everywhere, what's NOT there to attract zombies? I'm sure some loot would be damaged and destroyed by the zombies tearing the corpse apart. Is there time to loot? Can I take the chance to loot? Will they break the AK the player was carrying? Did that smoke grenade get lost in a pile of intestines? etc... I know with last patch zombies are more attracted to dead players. Does it matter how they were killed or is it just the corpse drawing them? Of course none of this matters outside of settlements as there are no zombies in the wilderness. I feel there should be more cooperative elements to the game, like blood packs for example. Kill as many people and who you like, I don't care, but make certain elements of the game require the cooperation of another player. There has to be a benefit to the players for NOT killing each other. Something like blood transfusion is key to this. The game requires you get a transfusion FROM another player. Booby Traps

How cool would it to be able to build different types of booby traps that attack zeds and players alike?
  13. I've been victim of it as well as the next guy. One one hand, I feel like there should be no bounds on play style and I agree with that completely. If you want to murder and pillage then go right ahead. On the other, I'd like to see some incentive for people to work together NOT by punishing the lone wolfs and bandits. There's only one way to encourage people to band/work together. That is to make critical element of play only possible (or much easier) if players work together. This is to say, don't punish those that want to play lone wolf killers, but make survival vs. elements and zombies more difficult if you are alone. How you ask? I have no clue, so BRAINSTORM people! Let's see how many ideas we can get here...nothing is off limits! It is a brainstorm session. No Criticisms!!! Just throw the ideas out there and see if anything sticks!

    Booby Traps

Yes, you could set zombie kill traps and cover doorways and what not.

Make campfires last much longer when placed near tents.

Put a limit on matches for starting a fire. Have the fire burn say, 10 minutes. If someone is there, they can click on the fire and select "tend fire" and it will burn for another 10 minutes. Other options could be "cook meat", "warm self", "dry clothes" etc.... If they leave, it goes out after 10 minutes and if they forget to tend it, then it goes out and you have to use another match to start it again.

    Wood in the Woods

I didn't consider limiting matches over limiting firewood. I'm changing my vote and aiming it at this suggestion. This would solve the need for firewood' date=' and those complaining fire doesn't last long enough. They could keep they're fire going as long as they had matches to keep it going. [/quote'] It would probably be easier(not to mention more realistic) to make a fire burn indefinitely until someone puts it out or leaves the area for long enough. After all, it's not like you need matches to keep a fire going: Simply adding more wood does that(you don't even need any special tools for that, as there is an enormous amout of deadfall and undergrowth in any decent forest). You only need matches(or a lighter) to start the fire in the first place. I was also thinking the same thing as the OP earlier today: "If my character freezes to death because he can't find any wood while wandering through a FOREST, he probably deserves to die anyway" I agree! Just limit matches for starting a fire.

    Booby Traps

There could be all kinds. Spiked pits, swinging logs, grenade in tin can trap, tripwires, claymore mines from the military posts, nets that trap players and zeds, etc.
  19. SkepticJerry

    Wood in the Woods

I think "firewood" and "hatchets" needlessly complicate the game. Who needs a "build the fire" mini game? Firewood is literally laying all over a forest floor. Make matches have limited uses and get rid of this craziness. Perhaps add a "rare" lighter! That has the same end.

A solution to KOS and death match mentality?

Perhaps if you don't have human communications for so long you go mad?
  21. I do. HDR to max, gamma max and brightness about 75. It actually looks like real night then. With normal settings its like playing in a cave. When your eyes adjust, even starlight can provide a good bit of light. I've yet to see the moon rise.
  22. I agree. Ditch the wood.
