DO SOMETHING AGAINST THE HACKERS
Carebear Baddie replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
your friend was hiding in the grass, the grass only goes for about 50m. He may as well have been lying out in the street. -
Maybe allow people to take over the radio towers and broadcast their own wasteland radio show ;). That could be...interesting.

Are you using Dayz Commander? Try using it to find your server.

Need help on where to put a camp.
Carebear Baddie replied to commandercaleb's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As everyone has said, your camp will eventually be found, and stuff stolen. Best thing to do is to put it as far away from any point of interest as possible, with yout being too obvious (ie, up north). Also, and this is tricky, but try to predict the paths people will take across your camp ground and try to hide the camp from those path ways. -
Death needs penalties. Suggestions welcome
Carebear Baddie replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not when everything you had on you is easily attainable again within a 30min - 1 hour. And especially not when you have friends who can guard your body and let you get everything back withing a few minutes. And especially especially not when you have tents and vehicles set up with even more gear out in the woods. -
Beans to you good sir for not Alt + f4ing. Would've been nice if they'd have let you go, just for playing along. If I had been your robber, I'd have broken your legs and put some morphine and your weapon 30ft in front of you while my friend and I made our get away. As a courtesy of course ;)

Also, I believe Rocket has explicitly said he will not put in a class/skill system that will restrict people from doing things.
-
Kinda sounds the same as classes, but with a different name. I still prefer a skill system.
-
Would rather stay with player created factions, i.e. clans/friends.

Choose between restart with nothing or with our stuff
Carebear Baddie replied to MacStew's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I dont follow, how would being able to restart with all your weapons and having not lost a single thing make "the stakes higher"? -
lol guy, whatever you want to believe.

You mean quotes like this one?

I was going to write a similar post, but since OP obviously went to the future, stole my ideas, and then returned to the past to write them down I'm just going to give you beans. That and the fact that posting a compilation of ideas rustles GenerationVII's jimmies, and that's the last thing I would want to do. There is one thing I would change, and one I would expand upon. Rather than picking your specialization from the beginning, I like something more akin to what Argus posted. That being that you have [x] number of skill points to start out with, and you spend those points while performing those skills. Your events idea is also something I've thought about. I would expand on your idea by suggesting mechanic that allows Admins, or some type of "Game Master" to randomly spawn shorter events as well. For example, say we get to the point where we have built fortifications (for this example it'd be an above ground one) and an admin/GM sees that there's a lot of people hanging out at said location, he could spawn some type of zombie invasion against the town that the people there would have to defend against. Obviously such a system could be abused, so some sort of system (maybe server rep?) would have to be added to try and prevent those types of situations.

Zombies walking inside is a bug. Also, they are infected, as the home page says:

As an expansion to this idea, what about having the chopper visibly crash? -
Rough Idea of possible player built communities!
Carebear Baddie replied to status_quo69's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Red text burns my eyes. nvm, you changed it. Thanks. Also, I believe rocket has said he wants to add fortifications, and the ability for players to create hubs. I want to see that eventually, either in the mod or standalone. -
You didn't add "use my silent axe that will attract no zombies and can even be used to pre-emptively kill a zombie before he even sees me" in your list of stuff you can do. You should try that. Also, don't crawl so close to the zombies.

Increase spawn of toolboxes, slightly decrease the spawn of barbed wire and it wont be as bad a problem.

The Fundamental Problem of DayZ's Survival Gameplay + Suggestions
Carebear Baddie replied to TanX's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think I agree with everything you posted OP. The only thing I would change is that rather than using Chlorine or Iodine tablets to purify water you should have to boil it in a pot (or maybe a smaller amount in a tin can). This would require you to leave the fire on longer and could attract other players or perhaps even zombies.
