Luckiest(and best moment to date) I've had.
Ragegasm replied to DiscoDan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I had a similar lucky day. The day before this story my friend and I had built two trucks only to find them both stolen when we logged back on and all our loot gone. I found a bicycle and was driving the map looking for the perfect spot to set up a tent. My friend logs on like 10 mins later, he's on foot half way across the map. I tell him where I am so he can come and meet me and set up his tent. I wait out in the woods a good 15 mins and hes reporting where he is as he gets closer. I find what I think is the perfect spot for tent placement. It's a veteran server with no waypoints so we are talking on teamspeak and he is pretty close to me we think. All the sudden I hear a shot. I tell him, "Oh I heard your shot you must be really close" He's like, "But I didn't fire a shot." So I pull out my sniper rifle and go have a look-see a who did. There in the woods I spot two tents and a dude in a green cookie monster suit. To make a longer story longer, I drop him, we loot him and his SVD camo, NVG's and silenced M9. He also has another ghillie suit in the tent, two more sets of Nvg's, two silenced rifles with 12 clips, range finder, 2 sniper rifles and 5 other sweet machine guns, blood bags, morphine etc. He even had a rocket launcher. We are both fully stacked with eq so we go down the map a good distance and set up one of our tents and start transferring the loot from his over to ours. This takes a good 30 mins. It goes a bit quicker because I have a bicycle but my friend is on foot. We finally transfer everything to the tent and it's about 2:30 in the morning so I tell him that I'm going to log off to get up for work in a few hours. He suggests I hide the bike away from the tent so if they find the tent at least I still have a bike and I say what a good idea. I then hop on the bike which is on a slight hill and proceed to immediately run over our tent, collapsing it and losing all the gear:) -
What is the longest you have been alive?
Ragegasm replied to DrFree_man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was alive 13 days with 2700 zombie kills or so. I just loaded into the game where I was camped with my bicycle north of the NE airfield. The graphics were way dark on this server so I decdided to adjust my gamma settings. My daughter had been on my computer and hit the mouse increase speed on my mouse. Instead of hitting OPTIONS, my curser was just a hair above that and I hit RESPAWN instead. I heard the flies and thought I had gotten sniped by a .50 cal or something. It took me over an hour to make it to the Airfield. I was probably 5 mins from my corpse and the server says it is going to reboot in 120 seconds. Lost all my gear! The next day RESPAWN was taken out of the game:) -
The problem with War Z's "features", and what Day Z should avoid
Ragegasm replied to Skurkanas's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Unfortunately we live in a society dominated by profits. WarZ is going to be a game for the mass market of pu--ies out there who need to have a store where they can buy themselves skills or equipment to give them the edge. I quit playing Battlefield when they started allowing people to buy all the unlocks and equipment they want, where I had spent 9789798 hours of playtime earning it. I would gladly pay a massive monthly subscription to keep the game as it is, hard and hardcore. If they decide to go with a mass market game that caters to wimps, I hope they release dedicated servers that don't have any stores, safe zones, bosses that spawn rare loot, set-up dungeons or any of the other nonsense that makes a great survival game just another MMO style game. -
Should just add random clothing generator at the beginning of the game so everyone is not a cookie cutter of everyone else. It should be permanent for your account. Different color pants, shirt, hat or better yet, no hat different color hair. Make hats an item you find and have different types colors etc. This way you could at least recognize people you see. The ones who kill you and the ones who are friendly to you. Right now the game has become KOS because nobody knows who the hell anyone else is and its not worth trusting them. If you see a dude in a green shirt, tan pants and a red baseball cap who shoots you, then later when you see him again you may avoid or kill him. Also works in reverse. That guy gives you a ride and a weapon, later on when you see him running from a hoarde of zombies, you might pull out yoru sniper rifle and pick off a few. Right now 10 people could be standing in a room and I couldn't pick out anyone, even a friend on teamspeak until he does something like lay down. With different clothing etc, at least you could tell your firend the guy int he red hat and green pants shot me, kill him!

Two Ways To Actually Fix the "Bandit Problem"
Ragegasm replied to jstarkreborn's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Having bandits makes the game fun and challenging. I got a couple of suggestions: 1) increase range that zombies spawn by double. So people can't scan towns for zombie spawns from a 1000 meters away to determine if people are there or not. Make zombies attracted to sniper rifles shots at twice the distance they are now. I consistently hit zombies/people from over 600 easy with no zombies coming to the shot. This way snipers will actually have a challenge to hit you. Also every time you kill someone it should say who you killed and who you were killed by. This feature should not be allowed to be turned off regardless of difficulty setting. People can kill anonomously all day long. People will begin to see who is a bandit and who isn't. This is only because everyone looks the same in the game. 2) Skins are dumb but make sense in a way. Right now everyone looks the same unless you get camo or a ghillie suit. I play female sometimes just so my friends on teamspeak can pick me out in a crowd. In real, you would recognize a guy who shot your buddy if you saw him again 5 mins later in another town. Perhaps change the spawn generator to MALE - FEMALE and you spawn in as a random faced/featured person with no hat and different colored shirts/pants. It goes by IP address not random every time you die. You will always be that random generated person when you log in. This way you could at least point out people better. If the bald guy with a grey beard, red glasses, green shirt and green pants keeps killing you over and over, perhaps this guy is a bandit? I've shot a friend before chasing someone simply because we ran in from different angles of a town and he looked just like the guy I was chasing, standard hat, coyote pack, dark shirt, pants etc. -
Change the way Veichles are handled
Ragegasm replied to FrIEND (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think the opposite. Vehicle repairing is just fine at the moment. However, vehicles should be just that, vehicles for transportation. Not massive storage units. I've built like a dozen vehicles (which takes hours sometimes by the way) and believe it or not actually DROVE them around the map for hours at a time. And yes in broad daylight even! No matter where I hide them, someone always seems to find them and yet walking the entire map dozens of times I can't every find one anywhere unless one happens to be back in its respawn point because someone forgot the one week reset timer and I get to spend an hour or two building yet another one. Right now vehicles sit motionless behind a clump of trees or in the past off map for weeks. All vehicles should respawn every 24 hrs not 7 days after no use. They should also not be able to store equipment for more than 24 hrs. Take your truck around the map, farm helicopters and airfields etc, then go store that loot in a tent. The game would be much more fun with people running around in vehicles and on foot instead of 99% of the players on foot and the other 1% using their vehicles at night with their NVG's to make eq runs to go store it off map in their mobile storage unit. Some of the funnest aspects of this game is getting a vehicle and hauling ass around killing, looting and pillaging. Also load more bicycles if nothing else! One per town that respawn every day and don't save. -
No clue what bandits being a part of the game has to do with zombies spawning at twice the distance? I'm a bandit and I am the one suggesting it. I think being a bandit should be more of a challenge as well. I don't think anyone, bandit or fluufy nice bunny survivors should be able to use zombie spawns to determine where players are in the game. Simply sitting on a hill with a sniper rifle with no risk of death is kinda boring and unchallenging.

I have a suggestion. Double the range that zombies spawn in when someone enters the area/town etc. Everyone by now has figured out how to determine if people are in the area they are entering by using binos/sniper rifles to scan the city for zombie activity. By doubling the effective range zombies spawn in, it will add more risk to the survival aspect of the game. Snipers can still sit out of zombie spawn range waiting for someone to enter their area but it will be much more of a challenge to snipe them. Sniper rifles are way overpowered compared to other weapons especially from the risk vs. reward aspect. I can sit on top of a mountain and cover two cities in some areas of the map and one shot anyone coming in without a chance of any zombies coming to the shots. I don't simply because it is boring as hell but its very easy to do. Also zombies should have double the range to hear and track to a sniper rifle being fired if they are going to remain so powerful. Lastly, you could have the option for servers that don't spawn sniper rifles at all. That would make the game a serious challenge.
