    Camo/Ghillie Suit bug question

I used cammo outfit all the time in 1.6.0.1 without any problems, updated to 1.7 - with Beta patch - and spawned in ocean, after playing for about 2 hrs. No mention has been made as to whether this bug will be fixed in 1.7.1

    DayZ Memes

    literally ROFL!!!
  3. So Rocket mentioned a couple of hours ago on Twitter: "Traps either this update or very shortly after." This seems to be relating to a suggestion made by the writer of this article: http://www.pcgamesn.com/article/dayz-five-things-we-want-see-bohemias-open-world-apocalypse "Traps. This is mostly because I'm a massive jerk, but I'd like to set traps. As a mostly solo survivor, I usually have to back away from people and observe them from afar. The solo player is vulnerable in all sorts of ways, and I'd appreciate being able to give myself a bit of help. What sort of traps? Improvised, Rambo-ish spikes in the woods; you could give up a shotgun shell to use in a small bomb. If there are teams of wandering bandits about, I want to deploy guerilla tactics on them." Personally I think it sounds interesting, however I really don't want one more way to die randomly in the game, so there should be a way to balance their use, so that smart or well equipped players are able to avoid or detect them (maybe a metal detector added as equipment? IDK). What are your thoughts on the potential future ability to set traps in DayZ?
  4. If maps are available on the internet anyway, why would you need them when you spawn?

Traps to be added in a later patch - thoughts?

What is wrong with you people' date=' a man without his 'nads isn't a woman. Totally fails to amuse. Are you 12? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_culture [/quote'] Thank you, I have read your lengthy wikipedia article on 'Rape Culture' and am now suitably chastised. Somewhat off topic though, wouldn't you say? We're talking about the ability to set traps in order to break fellow players legs in a game in which it is perfectly acceptable to murder innocent people for their cans of Baked Beans. Its not exactly Sunday School.

Poll: Do you play at night?

Not if I can help it because I always record my gameplay. Only play deliberately at night if I want to sneak somewhere dangerous
  7. YES Its better than nothing
  8. The number of "NO until melee" responses would suggest that a lot of people still have much to learn about that. Care to elaborate or where you just getting your smug superiority rush for the day? Many of us lamenting the lack of melee in DayZ are aware that the Arma II engine does not support melee, that does not make it any less unrealistic. Besides, if the Zombies have a 'proximity' attack perhaps this could be used to resemble melee for survivors, I don't know if this is possible but the bottom line is that without melee a survival simulator is never going to be anywhere near approaching realism.
  9. NO Removing your only means of defense in this particular Zombie apocalypse (a gun) makes this game less accessible to new players, and would cause bandits to frequent the coast picking off defenceless new players. Lets be clear: bandits will kill you whether you have gear or not - for them, that's pretty much all there is to do in this game after a while. Most new players would not survive long enough to find any weapon at all. Any first time players would not even work out how to crouch walk or crawl before attracting Zs and being eaten alive without the ability to defend themselves in any way. Besides, this game will never be anywhere close to being realistic without melee. In a real life Zombie apocalypse you would defend yourself with whatever was at hand - knives, cricket bats, sticks, shovels, rocks, fists etc. The fact this game does not allow melee means it is less realistic than many of the mainstream zombies games out there, all the while claiming to be a realistic survival simulator...until melee is added all of you arguing about realism are just kidding yourselves.
  10. The best part is this bus was just sitting in a field Outside Polana and I didn't even have to repair it :)
  11. I know the average life expectancy is about 31 mins at the moment, but I want to hear from you folks who are survival pros. What is your personal best in terms of in game days survived? (as in the Day No. when you log in) Also, what tactics or gameplay do you use that has enabled you to survive the longest?
  12. I was at the NE airfield not long ago at night and some guy was trying to snipe me from 830 M away while I was crossing between the two hangars. He was up on the hill to the east. He shot at me about 5 times but obviously didn't account for bullet drop because his bullets were hitting the ground way out in front of me.

Lets do this, Trading Station Delta - Edited

OK two quick things I will mention. Skalisty Island has a water source (pump) at the tiny town next to the one enterable building there. It also spawns animals you can hunt (goats etc). The downside of using Skalisty Island is you make it too hard and costly for survivors and yourselves to access it for trade. Ferrying survivors in boats sounds good but you would go through a lot of fuel and need to jack your prices (in terms of trade). If you lose all your boats due to damage/theft/server reset etc you will need to shut down trading altogether unless people with boats visit you (unlikely) because items (other than GPS, Matches, Pistols etc) can't be carried when swimming. I would personally think that Rog castle is better, it is very close to the coast and a spawn point at Otmel Island, hence easy access for newly spawned players to trade. The keep and gatehouse both have only one tiny entrance which can easily be defended (although Devils Castle would be easier to defend as there is a stair up to the entrance), with excellent overwatch from the roof of the keep and tower on the wall. Any location you use whether Skalisty or a Castle will be easily infiltrated by server hoppers.
  14. That dilutes the population. The "big cities" are supposed to be more important. They are supposed to attract more players and be the sight of more encounters and more action. This creates a balanced dynanic between low risk/low reward towns and high risk/high reward large cities. What exactly is so rewarding about the big cities? There's only so many cans of beans you can carry, for the really cool stuff you need to head to a military base/airfield/deer stand elsewhere on the map. And you get just as many vehicles elsewhere. Big cities are for noobs.

The Saddest Death in DayZ History

I fell a good 7 ft without dying or even breaking legs once, when I dropped out of the top window in the Otmel boathouse, and another time I jumped off the hospital roof onto the top of a wall and then down to the ground without dying or breaking legs, but I guess I was just lucky :)

should there be regular resets on characters

rofl worst idea ever, you obviously suck at this game to even suggest it That average isn't correct because of people who respawn whenever they get a shitty spawn and want to be in Prigordy or Kamenka. Not disputing the rest of your lengthy post, but just thought you may be interested to know that people who respawn for a better spawn location are not included in the calculation of average life expectancy, according to Rocket.

    Where to find new handguns?

Supermarket is best if you are after M1911 or Revolver, M9SD sucks, I have found the M9SD in deer stands and Control Towers but ammo is too weak and too scarce. Stick with the M1911, has reasonable size clip and is one shot kill with head or body shots, ammo is reasonably easy to find.

How long will my loot stay on the ground?

    1. I left my ALICE pack on the shore and swam out to Skalisty Island, roamed the whole island, climbed the radio tower and lighthouse there, killed zombies, butchered and cooked and ate a goat, swam back to shore and my backpack was still there. So quite a while. 2. If you respawn you do leave a corpse, and yes you can loot your own dead body.
