DayZ standalone held up by “core network architecture”, no longer has a release date
TacticalN29 replied to Lid's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah the article acts like it just missed a release date. There hasn't been an expected release date since December of 2012. -
It would be interesting, but as someone else pointed out in another thread it's not really a viable thing to do unless you have a base set up. He said if you don't melt the shell casings down and reforge them they will most likely cause a lot of malfunctions etc. I personally have never done reloading, but it makes sense to me.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if it did. But then again I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.
-
Huh?

They will release the game when they feel that it's not completely broken. That's the best way I can sum it up. If they were to release it now without having the sectors (or whatever they are called. The boxes that only send data from that box to your client from the server.) probably no one could run it as all zombies spawn in at the start of the server and don't de-spawn.

Other that DayZ is following the Minecraft business model, absolutely nothing.
-
Besides I'm not sure that he only has 5 people working on it. As far as this DayZ is following the exact same business model. They just haven't released the alpha yet, as they are in pre-alpha. The public did NOT develop Minecraft. Notch and Mojang did. The public was allowed to PLAY it. Not develop it. The public only gave feedback and ideas to Mojang and Notch, which is pretty much exactly what DayZ will be like when they release it.

Base Building - Do's and Don'ts (DayZ Standalone)

They already confirmed a prison for Chernarus+. Along with a shipwreck and new villages. -
Basically he's saying that, even if they were to be incredibly in-depth, they would probably still stop developing it sometime because they got bored or something. But if you look at EVE they have been continually developing that game for the past 10 years. And they aren't stopping. It would be amazing if DayZ got that type of support. Also look at TF2. They release new content for that game years after it originally released. Back on topic though, I feel like maybe they should get the dogs in the game before they worry about implementing a health care system for the dogs specifically.

Honestly I think this would be difficult to implement and take a bit of time. I don't know for sure though. Also, in my opinion, it doesn't fit DayZ/ARMA at all. It's a military simulator. It's just not the type of game that has stuff like this.

DayZ expansion suggestion
TacticalN29 replied to excursion_@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah that's pretty much what they have in EVE. But the only problem with that is the server architecture isn't there (in DayZ) as far as I know. Obviously it can be done, but I think it would a lot of work. -

I agree. But I don't know why anyone would want pretty much the same map only colder. -

It doesn't have to be a U.S. map (and I'm just using this as an example), but a map like NYC or some similar large city like that would be pretty sweet! We already have the more country type of map. -

Why would you want another map exactly like Chernaurs, but colder? Variety is the spice of life, as "they" say. -

Racist much? I wasn't saying it should be in America. I was just using it as an example. Has anyone here heard of The Crew? Somehow they inputted the entirety of the United States into it (an MMO racing game). I think Dean needs to find out how they (Ubisoft) did it! And then input the entire world!!! Yeah I know that would probably be years off, but it would be amazing! -

I believe Rocket has mentioned EVE as a sort of inspiration for something he would like to do. Basically there is a entire galaxy in the game and you jump through jump gates to get to the next system. But the jump gates don't look like loading screens even though they pretty much are. While there are multiple servers in EVE, it doesn't seem like it. It's not like regular MMO's where you select a server when you start the game. You just start the game. Different areas are run on different servers. They are kind of implementing something basic from that model. They are doing, basically, squares on the map. If your character is inside of one of those squares he will receive data from that square from the server. We won't be receiving data from the entire map. Meaning we should get a lot better performance. At least that's what I understood from the devblog and all that. But yeah if they were to, say, put in a U.S. city, it would probably be like flying for a little bit and then loading into another server to skip flying across the entire ocean. -
Yeah you're right. I wasn't 100% positive on that. I think they could do that with two buttons and another to put the pin back in.
-
Welp you are correct. Although it does sound like a pretty bad idea to use them.
-
Well as far as throwing accurately, yes it can be done. But grenades are quite a bit heavier than a ball. I think you are way over complicating the whole process. They teach you in the Military to pull the pin and throw the grenade. I get your point about cooking it in urban warfare so no one can throw it back, but when you are holding a grenade (and I have held one [not a live one]) you hand is already on the spoon. You use your other hand to take the pin out. There if you don't throw the grenade right away you are already cooking it without any more actions. However I would like an option to reinsert the pin as you can do that. Besides I feel like its too complicated a mechanic for something that doesn't happen that often. How often do you have grenades in DayZ? You'll probably be able to reduce that amount even further in the SA.
-
You may be able to use STANAG and G36 mags in the M249 in ARMA, but that doesn't happen in real life. I hope they implement complete realism as far as using different magazines with different weapons etc.
-
Well as I said every zombie on the map will spawn at server start and will not de-spawn unless killed. However the rest of your idea would never be accepted by the DayZ community. I don't think Rocket would ever implement it either. Not trying to be rude, just real.
-
I don't know where you get that it's impossible (and I'm surprised no one else has stated this), but Rocket has already confirmed that all zombies will spawn into the map at the start of server. They can only be taken off the map by killing them.
-
I would imagine this would be quite difficult to implement on the ARMA engine.

Releasedate for SA. Is this a true?
TacticalN29 replied to goo0gle's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Besides, I noticed when I was looking for the tweet, Twitter doesn't say the specific date. Like the picture says August 9th. Twitter just says something like 12 hours ago or 3 days ago. Unless you can change it somehow. I don't have a twitter so I don't know. -

Nope. I just looked on his twitter. That tweet was nowhere to be found.
