  1. CPU fan is not the problem, blue screen at the same spot again.  Though I will say the default CPU fan is at much higher RPM's.  Don't know if that means much, whether if the bigger one needs the RPM's or not combined with the cooling valves, but the default is running twice as fast right now.

Okay, is the RAM the only thing left to try?

That and a hdd if u can use one mate

If that doesnt work take out the battery on the motherboard for 10mins, put it back in and try again.

That will clear the cmos completely.

  2. What am I looking for with that exactly? The only thing I can find BIOS defaults is to press F5 for "optimized defaults" which just quickly flashes and then that is it.  Is that what I'm looking for? I found the flash utility, but don't see something that is basically for reseting it to defaults.

yes mate thats right. once you press f5 make sure you save and exit.

    then try again.

if that doesnt work let me know.

  3. And as far as I can tell, Win7 installed on the HDD fine through my other computer.  I got to the desktop and I'm running the sfc scannow thing at the moment, not sure if I needed to now, but I was able to with no issues.  What should be my next step?

    The scan found no problems.

Try just using 1 stick of ram. If that fails take out the stick and try the other.

    Could be a faulty stick.
