I think that spreading parts over several servers is a bad idea. I get where rocket is coming from, wanting the community to say where each part is. But lets be real, if you find a car part, you hide it and you go look for the other parts yourself, no one is going to give it away. I bet people even just hide it on purpose, not going to use it, just so other people can't find that one part. The vehicle building and all is good, but keep the components servers sided, the map is big enough to hide all the stuff. On the mod it was the same thing all stuff could be found server sided, it was rare (specially for the helicopter), but at leas manageable. And I did not see every single player driving around in a car, it still took a fair amount of time to build one.

But what if you are not wearing a mask? At this point not wearing one would be more beneficial since mask at the moment have no benefits, the lack of field of view would draw most players away from using them.
-
Well, what do you expect them to do? Don't redo the engine and keep it crappy? Develop it further in a crappy system?
-
Funny you said that, I did take an arrow to the knee... once.. Actually, even more! I used to be an adventurer!

Its my friend and we play very passively, despite the clothing :) We use the camo for the functional factor, not the power trip factor. You know not being seen is better than getting spotted. Hide away and runaway, stay alive ^^

Would be to heavy on the gpu drawcalls, DayZ/Arma's engine is already really good at loading huge and giant maps, which no other engine can do on that scale and quality. One of the tricks they could do is have some of the already ingame foliage scaled up, it would make everything look denser with the same amount of drawcalls.

There will be more than enough zombies once they become the main focus of the development, at the moment the complete items and item system are the focus, that is also one of the reasons the loot spawns so very frequently and in so many quantities.

Also don't forget that most youtubers "stage" allot in order to get an entertaining video, which is not wrong. But gives a deformed vision about the reality that 95% of the players are hostile.

Isn't item permanence counterintuitive to permadeath?

What do you think people did on the mod? Get a tent, put it full of backup loot, fix a car, put it full of backup loot. It is the same story, just with high res textures now :). Also keeping a stash and hoarding is kinda human's nature. It is baked into the brainz. -
Then you should find a safer place to log out. If you die in a loading screen, to me it would seem like a poor choice of logging. I have never ever died during loading. Simply because I think before I log out :). But I guess in your case it might be the price paid for server hopping on dangerous locations :).

You did hopefully notice he was on the airfield right? The number one place where the thrust no one rule is in red markers all over the place.... This has nothing to do with kos, but more with being sure he can't back stab you later on. Safety will keep you alive. After all the last man standing is the one who walks away.

this has been answered many times before in the link Boneboys gave are good solutions, also read those comments, there are some solutions in there to.

Reporting status loot on military base
Mark Darkers replied to GunnyITA's topic in General Discussion
It is also not meant to be balance at this point, like Papanowel said it is an alpha and now it is not excuse at this moment, they are intensively spawning military loot to test and balance all the military item spawns. Remember when installing the game you agreed to test? Well welcome to the testing part :) -
...the moment you own it, you better never let it go you only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow..opportunity comes once in a lifetime

I did, but that must have skipped my eye, in that case I salute you :D -
a question that has always bugged me
Mark Darkers replied to irl-calibre's topic in General Discussion
I have no idea, I have seen the flashlight staying on before in a chest holster, but the same thing happens when you use it straight from the backpack. everything stays on. But since battery's are not running out of power, it is hard to check whether they are on or not, since there is no power loss. -

Where they hackers or something? Otherwise you're a real douche... You would have got 2 people killed for nothing but ruined clothes and a lost m4, thus ending up with less then you would have had if you let them live or teamed up.... -
Simply add a server where you think you are going to pitch your tent to your favorite list.
-
yea, you're right about that. But maybe just generalize those two vests for both mags and strips, for the sake of gameplay/playability.

DayZ Standalone 0.48 - Ghillie Mosin, New Animations and New Ammo.

That would be anice idea indeed, also spray painting the burlap before using should be enabled. -
Well the thing is, in arma 2 and arma 3 this is possible by going to the documents-(your arma version) and placing a texture file called face/face1, this skin then becomes a face option (character selection). The thing is, even though it is your face on it, the model does not represent the shapes, so you won't recognize yourself in it. Secondly, most people do not know how to make a proper texture unwrap of their own photographs. And third but most important. If every one had a different face ingame, this would mean that for the basic texture of the character, hundreds of different materials have to be rendered in game (draw calls per material on a player is already high with every item having it's own material and draw-call towards gpu). For instance: 3 players fully geared out, but with same base textures (body skin) will have around 20 drawcalls. The base skin gets batched and only gets drawn once for all 3 characters. Now if they would all have different body skins (custom face) then for each character 2-3 drawcalls extra get added and if 3 players stand next to each other this is 9 extra draw-calls (sort off) towards the gpu. Now you think 9 is not much, but keep in min 100 player servers are coming, so that would be 900 extra draw-calls, for something you barely notice ingame. This render space could be used for much more important aspects to render out. I hope this makes some sence. And don't worry maybe in the future a mod will support it.

Allot of people indeed forget the importance of sound, it is not only the eye that needs to be fooled, also the ears. A game should challenge every sense possible. Of course there are limits, but the once it can reach (eyes, ears, motion) they should be fooled as much as possible.

ROCKETS WACKY ROADMAP and PS4! what? u serius bro?
Mark Darkers replied to MAD Frank's topic in General Discussion
I don't think you listen to every thing rocket said, nor the 1700 people who are now working on dayz and what they do... they did not only hire artists. Keep in mind that even a pro coder needs to learn a new engine, that knowledge does not come falling from the sky... -

If they don't change how the grass is spread over the burlap, then this camo is useless, the burlap "ghillie' camo in its current state is a white flash beacon whenever you are hiding. -
Yes and yes. Your tent will remain in your hands just as your weapons, however: When you login your character won't hold it in his hands, it will be visible in the inventory with the text "in hands" and then your tent, simply click the drop button ("X") and it will fall back to the ground. A pitched tent becomes server sided and is thus only present on the server where you pitched it. (imagine the clutter you would get if the tent traveled with you from server to server:)).
