    The only thing ive tried that works kinda is use the following formula 1,6x1000/X then you should atleast be able to rangefind with the scope up to 1000 meterish before the marginals in the scope becomes so small so its hard to see the diffrence, tried this in shooting range v1,1 with success. for ranges further than 1000 meters its best to have a rangefinder, but have never gotten my hands on one of those ^^ Hope this helps!
